Trying to convince myself to buy lostgolfballs.com

so i want to try out lostgolfballs.com but am a little weary of not being able to see anything first hand as far as quality. ive searched on here for several nights and have not been able to find any photos of peoples first hand experiences with what they get. i want to buy the AAAAA Titleist Prov1s but just a little worried of what i may be getting. its between buying these balls or going out and buying brand new NXT tours since they are only $30 a dozen. i played the pro v1 all last year but i purchased the refurbished ones that Target sells. i never had any problems with them other than color getting dingy after a few holes. and the more i think about the refurbished i just dont know what quality they used to be, before being repainted so i want to try and get away from those.

hopefully someone has some photos of what they have received form from LGB.

I don't have photos, but the 3 dozen AAAAA 2009 ProV1s I ordered a couple weeks ago from LGB had unblemished covers, but slightly faded sharpie marks and/or logos. Of the ones I've played, they played no different than a brand new ball.

How many would you say had the marking/logos on them? i know the sharpie markings you can clean off with some nail polish cleaner.

I have been playing thier AAAA near mint balls for about 1.5 years and cant tell the difference I imagine the AAAAA Mint look even better and play the same as new ball also. The logos or markings dont bother me, only a few have it and it does not change the performancec any either.

I would say do it, you cant beat the price. Although usually if your patient you can get them even cheaper from there Ebay online auctions.

Of this batch a good 60%, which is high compared to my other AAAAA orders.
[/quote]

yea thats a high percentage. i know logos dont do anything to the ball by in my mind they bother me slightly. i like a clean looking golf ball like new but cant afford $50 a dozen. i just have to tell myself stop being stupid.

I would go for it but if you are picky about logos and sharpie, i'd reconsider. I bought 8 dozen Pro V1xs last spring on special for $100, they were AAAA. I'd say about 40% had logos or sharpie marks. Performance was no different from brand new balls, I personally don't care about logos but sharpie does bother me. I've never bought the AAAAA but if you buy the AAAA I'd prepare for about 40% to be logos.

I buy all of my balls from there. Can't beat the prices on AAAA balls, and I can't tell the difference versus brand new.

I'll never buy a box of balls brand new again. LostGolfBalls.com AAAA and AAAAA balls are basically "one hit wonders", brand new balls that some guy shanked off into the woods on the first tee. Every now and again you'll get a AAAA ball with a small ding on the cover but who cares. As for logos and sharpie, I can clean the sharpie off and I actually look forward to seeing what new and interesting logos I'll get in my order.

Cram it with walnuts!

Once you buy lfrom lostgolfballs.com, you may never buy new again. Don't be too cheap, get the good quality. I buy 4 or 5 doz a year all at once, and usually get free shipping. Most look absolutely brand new. Some have logos... Once they become scuffed, they become practice balls. It also doesn't hurt as much to lose a ball when you only pay 40% or 50% of what a new one costs.

i ordered 4 dozen of the best quality balls and they should be here by next wednesday. now its just a waiting game. i hope not too many have logos but im sure after a while those logos wont be that big of deal. consider i saved over 50% of the cost vs brand new balls. id rather have the money to pay for the round of golf instead of paying for the balls and only playing a few times.

I have a psychological "thing" about playing used/lost & found golf balls. I'm not so much worried about their condition, but more so that it's bad karma or something... haha

For instance, if I hit a ball OB or into a hazard and can clearly see and retrieve it, I won't. I just have this belief that "if it ended up there, it just wasn't meant to be..." My friends think it's kind of weird but whatever; I think this is my only "superstition."

Thank God I don't feel that way! Lost Balls and Overstock provide me with great balls cheap that I figure will end up playing the way I play them (good, bad or ugly). I'm sure it's a "psychological thing" that when I used to have a tough shot, I used my "shag balls" because I didn't want to lose an expensive ball and I lost strokes because I didn't know how the ball would play or feel. Once I started buying quality used balls, I started playing more consistently and making better shots since I wasn't worried about losing a "good ball". I'm also an older player, so the balls that really "fly" tend to have no feel at all when I'm near (or on) the green. I'd rather play the same ball all the time, even if I lose some distance, since the only hope I have to score is when I'm confident in my short game and that's when I need to have a consistent feel and response from the ball.

I've read a ton of good reviews on here about them, just order enough to make the shipping cost worth it.

Shipping is free for orders over $75. I bought 4 dozen '07 ProV1's at $20 a dozen ($80 total) so shipping was absolutely free.

The other way to look at the karma of the situation is that the used/lost ball has come to you to find its true destiny. What could be better karma for your round than that?

Also, spending less money on golf and then giving away to charity the savings would be AWESOME karma on a much larger scale than your golf score.

I'm glad I found this thread.. I have been contemplating getting balls from this place.

The things I've always worried about, have been balls sitting underwater for too long. Is this even a concern anymore? I know it used to be an issue with wound balls, but I doubt it's an issue these days.

I think the golf ball industry put out the word that golf balls lose distance if they stay submerged. Just saw some research recently that showed that is not the case, and a golf buddy who is a Phd. in Chemistry tells me that golf ball covers do NOT absorb water. Don't worry about it...
