Which Driver is in your bag now?

jol

There are SO many club Ho's on this site (including me). I'm curious to see if anyone has used the same driver for more than 6 months, may have tried several others, but goes back to "old faithful" at the end of the day.

Name that driver and all those that you tried subsequent to acquiring it.

For me, TM R9 460. Tried; 909 D2, SuperTri, SuperFast TP, G15, SuperFast non-TP

R9 420 9.5 with stock motore stiff. Still wish I never sold my superquad tp 8.5. Kick myself everyday. Damn winter off seasons! I should also mention that I fell for the newer is better. I sold my superquad in the winter thinking that the new offerings would better. All I can say is that since coming to this site and reading posts everyday. I won't make the same mistake again. I can't thank everyone on this site enough. I have learned so much.

905R with a whiteboard. I've been playing this head for four years now. I did try a R7 425 TP for a couple of weeks about a year ago. I hit the 910 D3 a week ago and the 905R might be in trouble.

this year I started with my old faithful cleveland Hibore XL. Then g15 (sold), back to hibore. SuperTri with a couple different shafts (sold) back to Hibore. 2 different Ping Raptures (sold) back to Hibore. Then went a got fitted at miles of golf in michigan (I'll never go anywhere else now btw) well maybe except for the for sale forum here. It was really close between a 8.5 910 d3 and a k15 driver. I tried almost everything else and the numbers were so close between the 910 and the k15 i went for the best feel and the k15 won by a mile in that category.

Taylor Made 425TP 10.5°, Rombax 75 stiff.

Been using it on and off the past 3 seasons, although it may be time to move on. Been getting outdriven by 10-20 yards since this summer. Hitting it too high even with the weights set to a lower flight. Thinking of getting a Superdeep since they'll be selling like peanuts once the R11 comes out next year.

I had been playing an 8.5* Speedline Classic for close to a year and would still be playing it if it wasn't stolen, so now I'm trying to find it's replacement...I just hope it isn't going to be as long of a process as I'm afraid it will be. Everything about that club fit me perfectly.

So in my bag right now are a 3458-D with PX 7A3 and a 4250 DF with Accra Tour Proto. I should be receiving a 9015 with RIP today in the mail today. I also have an octane tour on its way as well. Hopefully one of these with be a suitable replacement.

I had been switching between a Titleist 905R and Nike SQ Tour for years now. This year I picked up a 909 D2 and threw a R.I.P. in it. It lasted for a couple of months until I finally broke down and hit the Superdeep. I absolutely hate TM drivers. I've never hit one well and have always hated the feel. This thing is a beast. It looks like the Superdeep will be in the bag for a long time.

Nak NP-1 8* with Speeder 761TB D5 @ 44.5"

After this year I'm finally sick and tired (as in puking)of chasing technology in hopes of a fractional performance improvement. I am currently a -0.4 and have ranged from +0.8 to a -2 in the past three years. My swing speed avg. with a driver is 112 and hit 118 (according to Trackman in September 2010)when I go after it. My 3-yr average with the driver is 66.76 FIR and 276.8 yards per drive, primarily with a power fade. I'm over 50% GIR & Scrambling, 60% Up&Down and Sandies, and 28.4 putts per round. I guess at 47 y.o.a., I need to live with it and settle for 275-280 in the short grass and appreciate the occasional 300.

Prior to selecting the Nak I built, bought, and or traded for the following in 2010 alone:

Cally FT9-TA 8.5 with Kai'li, Whiteboard, PX 7A3, and RIP.
Cally DET 8.5 with PX 7A3 and DWB
J33R 460 8.5 with 757, Motore 7.0, and DBB
J33R 420 8.5 with 660 TR, 761 TB, 757, Kai'li, PX 6A4
R9 460 8.5 & 9.5 with Motore 7.1, Altus LT, DWB and RIP,
Exotics CB3 9.0 with Motore 7.1, DWB, Kai'li, PX 6A4
9015D 10.5 with DWB, RIP, PX7A3
B'stone J38 8.5 with Motore 7.0, 7.2, Kai'li, PX6A4, 7A3

My best results came from the DET and J33R's, but I prefer a sub 460 head.

The Nak and the J33R are neck and neck distance wise and the determining factors were accuracy and trajectory.

I don't know if this is what the OP was really after but this is the last year I'm chasing the rainbow over 2-3 yards off the tee. Maybe my loss will assist some of you in your never-ending pursuit of the perfect driver.

Find what works well for you and play it. It's my belief you'll be happier and money ahead in the long run.

The answer to better golf is work your butt off and learn how to hit it better, farther, and make more putts.

I've played the R9 420cc head since the first day it was sold at my local golf shop. I played it for over a year, then decided to try the Supertri. I was really liking it, but it seemed to launch the ball too high for me. So I tried different shafts to find the ideal ball flight, but could not settle on one until I came across a used Supertri with the new Fuji Speeder VC 6.0. I fell in love right away! Tight dispersion and long! However, I still found my ball launching too high to my liking. It just so happened that my friend had a Superdeep in his bag, so I tried the Fuji on his SD head. WHAT A COMBO! Right after our range session, went straight to the golf shop and picked up a Superdeep.

Since then, I've only gamed the SD with the Speeder VC. Then came the much awaited and lauded Titleist 910! As the driver ho that I am, went and got fitted the first day it was put out on the shelves (11/19). Rep showed all the numbers and went home with the Kai'Li. Took it out for one round and compared the Superdeep fairways hit and score, front nine (910 D3) vs. back nine (SD). Front: +6, 2 fairways hit; Back: +2, 6 fairways hit!!! 910 D3 is now sitting in the closet just waiting for my bro-in-law to come home in two days so he could try it out. After that, it's going back to the golf shop...luckily, they have the best return policy, 90 days no questions asked!

One lucky Titty driver lover is going to pick this up at the shop for $329 (that's how much they mark down from new to used), practically new, not a scratch on it!!!

(Oh yah, if you're wondering where I live and where this golf shop is, it's in Santa Ana, CA - Roger Dunn Golf!)

The Wilson Staff Smooth is in my bag , i have tried a cobra SZ 440 , T.M. R9 , and a Callaway FT 9 and a few others but, come back to the Smooth everytime . Other drivers may be a little longer but, i have not found one with a better combination of distance and straightness yet .

At this very moment- Ping i15 9.5-degree, with a Whiteboard 73S- Has been in my bag since March. Works pretty well, but something isn't quite right.
Drivers tried in the past few years-
TM r9 420 TP, 8.5-degree, Fubuki 63S- HATED IT.
Callaway FT-5 iMix, 9.5-degree, Fubuki 63X- HATED IT.
Ping G5 7.5-degree, Aldila NV65X- Seriously LONG, but my misses were ugly.
TM Superquad TP, 8.5-degree, Fuji Reax 65S- Thought I'd love it, but hated it. In hindsight, probably should've kept it, and tried a different shaft.
TM r7 TP 8.5-degree, Blueboard 83S- Best, most comfortable driver I've ever used. This one was in the bag for a good three straight years, and should've never left.

Hence, I've got a Tour Issue TM r7 TP 7.5-degree on it's way to me now, and a Purple Ice 75X ready for it. Let the experimenting begin. Again....

D - Ping G430 LST 9-degree, Kai'li 60S
3W - Ping G400 Stretch 13-degree, Alta 65S

5W - Ping G425 17.5-degree, Alta 65S
Hy - Ping G400 22-degree, Alta 70S
5-U - Ping i230, Aerotech Steelfiber i95
54- Ping Glide Pro Forged
59- Ping Glide Pro Forged Eye toe
P - Scotty Cameron Teryllium T22 Fastback 1.5
