My first time refurbishing a putter. Baby steps - the last thing I wanted to do was ruin a nice Cameron. This Dead Center is like one I really liked when they first came out in the late 80's. It was pretty beat up but I got it for $20 on eBay. It was all DIY and trust me, I'm no artist. I'm more demolition skill level than finished carpenter. Bead blasted, angle grinder/polisher, Dremmel tool, buff and polish then paint fill. I've already ordered some more cheap putters to tinker with as it is a lot of fun.

If you use aircraft stripper, it will take absolutely any paint off, strong stuff

Second that, the Tal-Strip is some nasty and potent stuff. It has quite an odor as well, and you certainly only want to use it in a well ventilated area.

Citristrip? Any Home Depot or Lowes should carry it, even walmart.

 

 

This is what I have used. It has worked on everything but the lime green Odyssey swirl on the sole of the Metal X Milled 2-Ball putter that I had. And it has been safe for all finishes so far.

I just bought this CB4 5 wood to pair with my CB4 3 wood. Earlier in the thread I posted the work I had done on that. There was considerable face wear and a few cosmetic defects I had to touch up before I could properly initiate this new club into my bag. Here's a picture montage of the work I did to match the look of my 3 wood. Let me know what you guys think.

Just repainted my '99 Hogan Apex Plus irons to the original colors. This was my first time, very easy. Hoping his will allow me to get over the recent inability square the club face at setup.

All kidding aside, pretty happy with how it turned out. Soaked bottom of irons in nail polish remover to strip the paint, applied multi purpose acrylic paint with a toothpick, let dry, then wiped off excess with nail polish remover.

I still haven't found anything that will remove the paint from the swirl on the sole if this MXM 2-Ball. It feels almost like a decal or something. The Citristrip took the paint fill on the face off in minutes but not the swirl. Could the paint be naked on? Would that make a difference?

Get some Aircraft Paint Striper from your local Automotive Store. This stuff will remove any type of paint, powdercoat,Baked On whatever you have.

Will it harm the PVD finish?

Citri-Strip is what I use. It's good on most colors, but I have to break out the acetone and X-acto on white. I can't get it to touch white paint, but it's safer on skin.

Aircraft stripper will not harm the PVD. CitriStrip is good for removing softer paints like acrylic, enamel.....but for harder paints like urethane's, the aircraft stripper works better

I've been using this Jasco Premium Paint and Epoxy Remover and wow it's pretty powerful! Does a great job, just don't get any on your skin!

Just so you know, that isn't green paint in those holes. Its actually a green sticker. All you have to do is take a needle and stick in along the side. Then, just do a 360 around the outer edge and the stickers will pop out.

I've read and reread this thread a few times over the past couple weeks. My paint came in today, Tamiya XF-1(flat black) and X-16(purple), and plan on starting tonight. Will post pics when complete.

Nothing hugely exciting....decided to keep these pretty standard looking. Just a set of Zing2's i recently cleaned up (And re paint-filled) as part of a 'semi-retro Ping bag'............

 

 

 

And the woods for this bag, that i also 'refreshed' and re-paintfilled - slightly differently from stock:

Still need to polish the sole, redo the cavity, and paintfill the face. I had a hard time with the Tamiya X-16 purple in the cavity but the XF-1 flat black was really easy to work with. Will redo the cavity in flat black and paint the face logo in purple.
