Ritz Carlton in Sarasota is $175,000 per year, the course next door the Nicklaus/jacklin course "The Consession" is $350,000 per year.
WTF? Where are you people coming up with these numbers? No club costs that per year. "The Concession" is 100k to join plus $900 per month. I'm getting the distinct feeling that many of the replies are coming from kids that have no idea what club memberships actually cost.

My brother told me Isleworth in Windermere, FL, cost $100k to join if the powers that be decide to let you in.

Five equity clubs in my area. All range from $6,000-9,000 per year. That tends to be pretty standard around most of Texas other than some of the newer places.
Which clubs are $750 a month in DFW? I was offered a membership to some of the local club corp clubs for around $250 a month for the family. Unlimited golf and tennis, very little initiation fee.

There are two private clubs in my town. TPC used to 45k initiation and $500 a month carts not included but no food and beverage minimum. Initiation is down to 10k I think bit dues are about $550 now.

Valencia Country Club is 100k initiation last time I checked and $550 a month. This course is immaculate, difficult and one of the best in California. Luckily if I ever want to play I've got a hookup.

I have no clue where they get those figures either. Desert mountain which is a nationally recognized club with 6 Jack Nicklaus courses is low six figures to join and less than 2 grand a month.
I know some clubs with initiation in the 300k range but for yearly dues not going to happen.

I live in Bethesda, and I am surrounded by Congressional, TPC Potomac (f/k/a Avenel), Bethesda CC, Woodmont CC, Columbia CC and Chevy Chase Club. Under 40 membership on average is $50,000 over a period of years until you turn 40 but some don't charge interest. Upon turning 40, one pays an additional $10-30k depending on the course. Dues are roughly $1k per month (all-in including food/bev minimums). So around here it ain't cheap to be a golfer.

There are 2nd tier courses (e.g., Argyle, Norbeck, Manor and a handful in Northern VA that are much less.

Muni fees are approx $60 w/cart during peak, high-end public courses are $100 w/cart.

Buckets of balls aren't cheaper than $12.00 wherever you go.

for a "junior" membership

no initiation
$3600/yr in dues
range included
cart included
full family membership
pool included
fitness included (nice brand new facility)
no clubhouse minimums
$90/yr locker
$90/yr club storage
$40/yr mens club

pretty good deal. there were a LOT of courses built in Kansas City in the last 10 or 15 years, and almost everyone is struggling. you can get some really good deals out there, i think i found one.

I'm from OP. What club is this?

Brookridge on 103rd and Antioch. that's for the 18hole side, the 9 hole side is less, but i don't know by how much.

There is also such courses as Rivercrest, Ridglea, Shady Oaks and a little place called Colonial here in town that would all likely not really be comparable in quality of to any Club Corp courses. Think they would all easily be in that price range once you add in all the carts and other minimums required.

Trophy Club C.C. was $250 initiation and is $340ish per month. No food minimums. 50% off food and drinks actually (alcohol not included) and the One membership gives me access to several courses in the area as well as throughout the country at a substantially reduced cost. 36 holes, unlimited range, pool, dining, yada, yada, yada.

I was referring to equity clubs, not Club Corp. Big difference in structure between the two.

I can think of 4 clubs off the top of my head in the $750 range and that's before minimums, carts, assessments, etc. However, most are between $500 and $600 per month.

I'm a member at a nice 36 hole facility in NJ, one side is private and the other is public and I have access to both. Also have access to private practice facility with separate short game area and grass range. I joined last August and paid $3500 to join and was able to play the remaining of 2010 for no additional charge. You can walk any time you'd like and there are no food or bevarage minimums.

At the local country club, it's approximately $75,000 per year or so.
No it's not.
Yes; it is. That is for the full membership I believe. That also does not includes drink minimums and food minumums either. It's also rated one of the best in the state. It was designed by Jack Nicklaus.

OK, since I'm fairly near the area I asked for a membership package to be sent to me. It came in the mail and the most expensive membership to NACC is $75k initiation (which is 100% refundable) and $633/month. There are no food and beverage minimums. You can also choose to pay $37.5k for initiation but, that is not refundable. Either way, the membership can't be recalled for 5 years. So, this club is nowhere near $75k/year.

I posted early in this thread about what I pay and man do I feel, A. cheap or B. smart or C. lucky? Our course isn't a great course but has a lot of challenges and is fun to play, is well maintained. Sure it needs some improvements but not bad at all. Oh and I probably adverage 200 rounds a year so that's about $9 per round including cart and range. I think I'll stay right here, and yes I have a job.

I am going on the opposite end of this thread.

Our course which is nicely maintained with bent grass fairways and greens is a shorter old school course but maintains a 133 slope rating from the men's tees. I have a choice come Feb ever year. You can drop $1900 or pay around $164 per month. Monthly minimum is $45 carts are not included but I walk much of the time.

I like that ir doesn't break me an we have a nice course that is virtually empty in the evenings.

I think I'm doing okay, I spend roughly $5,500 a year.. Low F/B minimums. All that good jazz, decent courses. I have 5, 18 hole courses that I can play within my 10 minute drive, a par 3 course, full grass ranges and short game areas at each course, with all the range balls I want to hit. Pretty good deal for roughly $400 a month I plop down for my club membership, but still have the ability to change it up.

I like the option of mixing it up so I'm not playing the same course all the time, and from the same tees each time. Gets busy during the summer when all the fair weather guys want to play with their wives, but I get out when I want, play as much as I want, and hit on the range till I'm dead tired everyday of the week.

These aren't short courses.. The one I live on is 7050, and they have slope ratings over 130. So a good challenge.

We pay just over $10,000 for the most prestigious course in my area.
the food minimum is 1,250 yearly and $100 for the improvement fee. (i think that's what it's called)
The entry was $12,500.
The course was renovated in 2009 hence the big price. It was cheaper before but the course was okay but now it's awesome. Over 7000 yards immaculate condition.

We joined this year because it was closer to our house. Our old club was 5,500 but i can't remember entry since I was a month old when we joined. But the new one is a lot nicest. We joined so i could drive there every day. And I do I love it. For those of you who think I'm a dumb kid and don't know anything. Ur wrong I like to know this stuff. I'm 16 btw.

I'm curious as to where the guys from Minneapolis in this thread are members (if you're willing to say, no problem if you're not). I've spent a lot of time looking around the last couple years and haven't been able to find anything that's either that reasonable or a good enough course where I would be willing to play it the vast majority of the time.
