Ritz Carlton in Sarasota is $175,000 per year, the course next door the Nicklaus/jacklin course "The Consession" is $350,000 per year.

Are you Schwartzing me?
absolutly nowway that is true!

my membership is just 1800 no food beverage carts included. Ful range etc the whole deal.

There are clubs with 50000 initiation and 750 monthly dues with the short season. Also another expensive club that is 100k initiation 550 dues
My grandparents actually belong to the Ritz in Sarasota and I can tell you that is the initiation fee and its a thousand or so a month. There is a lot more to it that just a golf and tennis though.

I'm UK based and pay £225 per year as a student. No food minimums or anything like that for me. Buggys are £20 per round and the range charges £2 for 45 balls. Course is nice enough - traditional parkland and playable all year round!

Can't believe the prices you guys are paying in the US. Absolutely savage!

Private: non-resident, full privileges (pool/tennis/range), 1k/yr plus $75/round w/cart, no minimums
Semi-Private: (27 hole Donald Ross gem): $850/yr, $15/round w/cart, unlimited range

I love my club when I get down there (awesome folks!) but stick to my semi-private when time is tight (not to mention money!)...BB

Fairway: Titleist 917F2
Hybrid: A-Grind

I've been thinking about joining another club, but it's in another state, around 3 1/2 hours away. We go there in the spring/summer/early fall about once a month or so, maybe twice if time permits for the weekends. We have property there, but no resident rate/membership for this course, so that doesn't help any.

I think it's like $200-300 to join, then cost would be around $30 a month for a cart. Guest/Family can come with me, and includes like 10-15 guest passes for them to play for $30. Rate is normally $110. I wouldn't use HALF those in the course of the summer.
No other amenities other than a RTJ course that is pretty fun to play.

Probably not worth it dollars and cents wise for me. I'd have to go up the a ton, and play there a ton.

"I was joking with mine. $100k initiation is a little out of my budget."

That's no joke where I'm from (East End of LI NY) ... In fact, that's the low end of most of the private clubs in the area. Fortunately there are a few private clubs that are quite nice that are starting to come around in their pricing - $6k initiation payable over 5 years and around 8k/yr dues + 6 mos. food min of $150/mo... It works out to about $12-13k/yr. Certainly not cheap, but approaching doable! I play several of the local private courses and would LOVE to belong to one - the biggest draw is obviously pace of play and conditioning. That being said, the public courses in the area have really improved regarding conditioning this past year. Even one of the Muni's (anybody know Indian Island in Riverhead?) got really nice as they hired a superintendant from one of the local privates
Personally, I "belong" to a public/daily fee club that has 2, 18 hole courses, grass tee range and a pretty nice practice facility. I pay $2000/yr. I can play any time during the week and after 12 on weekends/holidays. I pay $15 for 18 holes w/cart or $8 for 9 holes w/cart. I don't pay to walk. It's $4k for any time/any day play + no cart fees. The membership runs one year from the first day of play, so you get a full year no matter when you join (I think all clubs should do this to be fair - but I understand why they don't) I've had this membership for 5 years - The first 4 years I played well over 70 rounds (many walking) which made it a no brainer as far as cost... This year I haven't played it much because the group of guys I play with like to move around to different courses.

Just thought I would get into the mix. I just changed clubs and here are the numbers.

Junior Golf Membership - $5000 initiation, $216/month, $60 food & beverage minimum.

This includes tons of extra amenities for the wife and kids. Not to mention it's only 5 minutes from my office with 2 18 hole courses!

Have any good jobs there? That might be worth a move!!

I am in the process of moving my membership from Elmhurst (just outside our city) after 10 years to Niakwa (just accross the street) due to proximity to new home. Its a Stanley Thompson designed course built in 1923

I am starting over, having to pay a entrance fee of $7500.00

Membership share $2500.00

Annual green fees $3350.00

Capital dues assessment $700.00

Club house assessment $500.00

It's a big hit but will cut down my golf day by at least 11/2 - 2 hours when you account for travel, warm up and after golf beverage. Also now my wife can join me for an after round drink or bite to eat with the kids!!

I will miss playing Elmhurst as it is a classic golf course, but this move makes things easier on the home front.....

cheers.

We just submitted our application and are waiting to hear back but the club we submitted to join is 25k initiation and with cart fees, F/B minimums ect. it comes out to about 12k a year for dues. We looked at 3 others in our area and they were all around the same price give or take a few thousand with the exception of a few super high end clubs. The reason we decided to join the club we did is because of the membership special they are currently running. The initiation for your first year is only 5k and if you decide you don't want to stay the 5k is fully refundable.

$335/month, no F&B, unlimited range balls and free golf carts. I have no idea what the initiation fee is anymore. I paid $18K 13 years ago, probably only $10k or less now. Several better clubs in the area have dropped their init fee to $2K, but they have much higher monthly fees and quarterly F&B plus assessments.

Old stuff:

1964 Acushnet O-SET M6S Bullseye Putter

New stuff

The best here in Santa Fe, NM is ~$30K Initiation (used to be a $90K equity a few years ago but they weren't selling) plus $1300/month. One big problem is that it is pretty cold and the ground frozen for ~4-5 months of the year. They have 2 Nicklaus courses and with few members the courses are usually in great shape for 6 months of the year. Albuquerque is about one hour south and 2,000 ft lower elevation so we can play year around down there. I average only one round per week so I usually play the resort courses in ABQ. We buy an annual card which gives us $20 off the peak $85/round rate and preferred tee times. So, I figure I spend about $3200/yr and am not locked into anything. I pay ~$100/yr for unlimited use of the local public course driving range. It is mats only but it is close to work so I use it during the week. I probably hit about 9 buckets per week for 7 months of the year so it definitely pays for itself. If I could play more I might consider a club but for now my situation is working pretty well.
