Im currently gaming a gs tour 14° with a protopype 80x but thinking of moving to a 4 wood as I dont often hit 3wood off the tee. Any offers on the 14° considered otherwise can stay in the backup bag
[/quote]That is not allowed, may want to put up ad in buy/sell/trade before receive notice from mods.

Perhaps until the day i die will reside in my bag theTRC F 18*, x-stiff YS-7, .335 tip. My first hybrid, and none has come close to even meeting it for playability... it brought back, for me a short hitting arrow straight player, the long range birdie on man-eating par 4s, and is the best club from anything but a perfect lie when i would otherwise use my 3 wood. also decidedly in the bag and beating many competitors is an MD *21; with only a stiff shaft irod 81 grams... should have it reshafted but it mostly works way better than other hybrids with better shafts. Short hitter, yes, but do not ascribe to using weaker than x-stiff shafts for just about any graphite club; because I am self taught and totally rely on the club being exactly where I want it to be at all times, and not flexing somewhere else, occasionally will hit a 15 yard pull with the MD; but the TRC is always dead straight, and hits longer off the deck than teed up... consderably so, though. I get 182-187 teed up, and up to 195 off the deck.

I've also got in reserve an SS 07 13 degree, but as I am a short knocker, lately it has just been a little too much off of the ground from the fairly bare yet wet lies I typically play on a public Florida course... so losing distance have transitioned to something inferior made by Callaway with 15*. I have the 4 wood, but my TRC is exactly the same length with more creativity, and also way stowed away is the Sonartec driver and 56 degree sand wedge... both of which are okay, but not as good as my i 20 driver or my many other variable wedges. The sonartec driver was great at times, probably a 380 cc size head or so, and you can nail it, but then suddenly comes this hard left shot out of nowhere with the stiff shaft, which again felt too soft at times. The x-stiff on the Ping i20 never yanks left unless I hiccup midswing or lose my grip on the first tee, etc. It is always about 2 yards right of center on average.

so I have given sonartec a long hard look and love these hybrids still, particularly the TRC is unbeatable... the honeymoon with that club was the best ever, but it has lasted now about 10 years without any loss of erotics.

Harry Potter? Never heard of him; is he a character in Melville's obscure works? Sonartec 3 wood, and 5 woods, and driver--which can play off the deck, too. All mentioned, all reasonably solid clubs, and better than mainstream fairway woods put out in today's market, yes, the Bridgestone fairway woods do have the drving cavity, but they don't have quite the solid strikes of the Sonartec quite right; but even as good as the sonartec fairway woods are, they are not as good as the sonartec hybrids. If I was a stronger hitter there is little question the Sonartc SS-07 13* would be in my bag still, but to me the hybrids are the highlight of Sonartec. Isn't the TRC what Todd Hamilton broke through with in the British Open victory? You shouild ask yourself what it was that Proust wrote about golf? And he did write about golf, by the way.

In reference to above question- Todd Hamilton used a 14* Sonartec MD in Open Championship victory.

It was a sad day when Sonartec went out of business. The made the best clubs and had the best marketing (none).

I have several of the GS Tours in 14, 15, and 18 degrees....use the 18 most, never use the 14.

I also have the MD in all lofts, the best hybrid ever made, use the 25, 21 and 19 the most, like having the 15, 17 and 23 in reserve.

I've been using the GS Tour in 14* & 18* for several years now. Mine just have the stock Red Ice shaft in X flex. I've never found a 3 or 5 wood that I hit farther or more accurately. Without a doubt these are the best fairway woods I've ever swung.

Last week I picked up a nice Sonartec NP-99 *13 from Play it Again Sports for a whopping .99 cents. It had a like-new Golf Pride Multi Compound grip and the stock Aldila NV (stiff - xstiff). I'm not sure about the shaft but for less than a dollar, why not. I haven't had a chance to hit it but the club sets up great.

I also got a mint 510tp *8.5 for $10 while I was there.

I have the SS 01 in the 13* w/Penley Stiff, the light gray one. This combo is a/the bomb! You have to be somewhat quiet in your swing path to hit it correctly but "wow," does this thing pop! Honestly, I bought a Stage 2 Taylormade TP 3 wood (buying into their program) and as good as it is, the Sonartec 13* is in my player bag. I guess that says it clearly; In my opinion, you simply cannot get a better 3 wood.... I have two friends who have run the gambit (Titleist, Taylormade, Cobra), all garaged in lieu of their Sonartec; one bags the SS 01 exactly as mine, the other a NP.

I have the Royal Collection Tour VS series which is the heir apparent to the GS Tour. Absolutely crush my 14* and 18*. Outside of the Exotics line, there really aren't fairways that can come even close.

Actually put my 18* up in the BST. I just am too steep/spinny for a 5W I think. Put a 2i into the bag and it seems to hold a bit better for me on wind with same distance. But the 14* will have to be pried out of my cold, dead hands. A bomber 3w that puts me out there around where most like their driver to go.

I play a SS-07 15*. I'm looking for a strong 3W and considering another Sonartec. I'm fascinated by all the particular models. Anybody like a 13* in a certain model?

It's not 13 degrees but my ss 3.5 14 degree 3 wood is a fantastic strong 3 wood. Good off the deck and a fantastic driver alternative. Gets it out very long.

Still playing my 13 & 18 GS, the 14 gets played now and then.... but can anybody recommend me a Sonartec 21 degree FW head? I'd love to get hold of a GS Tour 7 wood but there don't seem to be any out there these days... how do the NP 99 & SS woods compare to the GS Tours?

IMO the NP 99 & SS woods are a bit less forgiving that the GS. I like a little bit deeper face on my fairway woods so I like the GS better. I have some NP 99s but I always end up playing with the GS. I also think the GS is a bit hotter off the face.

I have a 14* ss 2.5 3 wood that is my gamer. Love it. I'm comfortable playing it off the deck or the tee box. Plenty long, elevates fine although definitely not high launch, I've never had it on a monitor but just looking at ball flight it looks pretty even and flat, so probably pretty low spin.Thinking about poking around to try to find a matching 5 wood.

I know what you mean.... the GS Tours can't be beat, that's why we've still got them in the bag. Now the NP-99 and SS's, are the trajectories similar to the GS's? Alternatively I could go down the RC route and find and old CV pro or similar....

The most similar to the GS Tour is the Royal Collection Tour VS, in my opinion. Almost exactly the same: deep face, small head, hot as hell off the face. I've tried almost all of them and the VS is pretty much spot on.

My GS Tour 15* was until recently the second oldest club in my bag. It is and has been a great 3 wood, solid and consistent off the fairway and long and straight off the tee. On the days I didn't quite have my driver dialed in or I absolutely had to find the fairway it was my go to club. A week ago I decided it was time to look at newer technology and I put a Callaway Alpha 816 16* in the bag. Based on limited use it has been an acceptable replacement, but I won't make a final decision until it has gotten a lot more play. In the mean time the GS Tour is standing in the corner ready to take its place back in the lineup should it get the call! A few weeks before I did finally replace my MD 19* hybrid with a Callaway Alpha 815 20* hybrid and it won't be making a return to the bag, it had a great run, but the newer technology can't be beat!
