I guess this validates the Hi-Bore and Sasquatch/SUMO geometry based designs. If Titleist jumps on the band wagon, there's certainly more to it than we previously thought.

I'd definitely hit it; how much better it'll be remains to be seen.

I'm starting to think......why look at Titleist to validate anything? I've always been a fan of theirs since they are one of the older club companies still around, but really they've been trailing everyone else in equipment. driving irons, hybrids, 460cc's and now this. They've come out with "classier" looking versions, but they've been following the trends more then setting them lately. JMHGO. :drinks:

Wooden drivers were invented, then for about 100 years they were perfected, refined and manufactured on a mass scale. I guess what we're seeing is the gradual refinement of the modern, titanium driver. I feel like the brand of Titleist in some senses validates the square head idea. I think it's great. For some reason I won't feel as bad showing up to the range with some geometry problem hanging off my shaft, because I'll just tell those glaring eyes "Hey, new Titleist" It's almost this obligation that good players can't NOT buy it.

The D1 is not as deep of face as the D2. Lucus Glover was carrying the ball 315-320 with the D1 today. I guess it sets up real square. The only problem is that Titleist changed graphics on the D1 and the USGA did not approve them yet, so no one can use the driver this week in the tournment.

Both can be used they are both on the conforming site for USGA with the new graphics, if a guy who has been playing a 983k since hes been with Titleist and has not put and one of the 905 series in play you know that this is a good stick. We sure will see.

Think if Tity would have been ready to drop this bomb with the rest of the fall line. 907, 906f2, 585h, 755's, and the Detour, and then maybe throw in those Tour Van Design Vokeys? Either way this thing is gonna knock our socks off for sure. In the retail market it always seems as if Titleist drivers are sleepers and only for the guys with the big bucks, but most of the guys without driver contracts inside the ropes are playing them. Obviously they are doing something right. Taylormade is only the #1 driver under 460 cc's now so that definitley proves something.

They changed graphics on the D2, not the D1. The D1 is legal for play this week.

I was told by a very notable source that the D1 is not legal for play this week at the Chrysler Championship and currently isn't on the USGA conforming list. I am told however that it should be legal for play next week at the Tour Championship.

I think it's rather clear what Titleist is doing here. They are going to try what they did with the 905 line. You know, make different drivers for different people. The D-1 is Titelist taking a chance and going for the wild shape or spaceage look market and the others are more for players that like a standard look.

The bottomline is that all the companies have hit a wall with the USGA and R&A rules. With the rules stating clubheads can be no larger than 460cc's and the COR factor, they are running out of things to do. They want your money so, the whole spaceage shape is a way they hope to get you out and buy.

With that shape and with the red line running almost all the way across the head, it looks like something from one of my old geometry textbooks...........

Prove:

"If two triangles have two sides and their included angle equal to each other, then those triangles are congruent."

Thanks, but no thanks. I'll wait for the D2. There's no way the D1 will ever toss my Tour Comp or my 580xd tp out of the bag! :drinks:

Emphasis on 'not legal for play this week' big guy. And like I said this info comes from an very noteable source.

You keep watching that website to see if anyone is playing it this week! :drinks:

My Hats off to all the 6453 players. The geometry envelope was pushed by us, you accepted it and defended it on the board. Other OEMS follow suite, do some tweeking of thier own, give you the neccesary AMMO to fire back but all of you are just interested in hitting it....... This a Great Offereing by Titleist.

I feel like it looks like a Titleist branded Ft-3. Did any other clubmakers rejoice in the fact there is NO sleeve inside the head to worry about!!! The shaft comes through the head all by itself.

I still don't get why Titleist makes their woods with a bore through AND a full hosel. This makes any shaft you put in the heads play completely different than it was designed. Not to mention you have to have a shaft with a LONG parellel tip section just to fit in the head.

You can also forget about using the shaft again unless it's going into another Titleist head because the tip area that needs to be prepared for shafting is like 4" long!
