The Nippon Blue are probably going to launch really similar or a touch lower than your DGX100. I have not hit the Super Peening Orange but they are supposed to spin more and launch higher than the Blues. Also theN.S. Pro Modus 3 Tour will go higher and spin more.

Have you thought of tweaking the loft of your irons by 1° up? You will probably see more significant results by changing heads or lofts vs shafts.

The AP2's are really the only 714's that interest me. I have the 712CB and MB enough to know that I like my current irons more. I am really excited to try the AP2's though...
I gotcha. I am thinking about picking up some AP2s or going to all cb. I like how low I hit my blades, but this summer especially in tournaments I have found how much more important it is in american golf to be a high ball hitter with your irons. It makes all the difference. I think putting CB's in my low irons to replace my worn 7-9 iron would help. I had the 710 AP2s, but the low iron top line was way too thick for my liking. I dont really know if it is different on the 712 AP2's or not. I am hoping the top line on the 714 will thinner than what I had on my 710's. Also scratch when are we going to see a swing vid. I have seen JW's and Vix yours has to be next. All we are missing is Pure, Swan, and some of our other top posters. I dont critique, but I am always curious to see the swings of guys with the nicest shafts and such to compare to mine, load, launch, etc.

You will definitely hit the CB's a little higher than the MB's. especially in the low irons.

Come to SoCal and you can see it in person :taunt:

If you dump the 9.8 let me know :)
I will keep that in mind. For now I am going to stick with the HD, I changed the loft to D4 and have been hitting it pretty well. I have never had a problem with it off the tee, only off the deck as it has given me fits. Hopefully the added loft will make the difference and help even my gap between hybrid and 4 iron. I am considering picking up a 712u 2 iron as I love the 4.

I picked up a 21° DHY and I am not impressed, it was a fail from the get go. I knew after a handful of balls that the DHY is not for me. Don't like the way it sets up, I find it very demanding, feels harsh and has a very low penetrating, low spin flight that is useless to me unless I was playing in very high winds. Personally I find the 712 much easier to hit and superior in every way. I have a feeling that I am in the minority on this one.

If all things are the same I think you will gain a half club with the U vs a traditional iron. So I think you should get a 3 bent 1* weak or a 4 1* strong.

I am playing a 712u 4 bent 1* weak and it's the perfect 4 iron replacement. To me it's like a cool looking GI iron, launches high and very forgiving. Others have mentioned that its demanding, personally I don't think so.

I am going to try the AP2's but they will have to beat what I already have in the bag. If they don't than I will check out the Mizuno irons or stick with my Miura's.

I don't expect the 714CBs and MBs to perform any better than the 712s and I already know that I like my current irons more than those.

Scratch, have read through most of this and love your sticks! Such a sweet setup - one of my very favorite on WRX.

How is the playability of the 712U, and how would it be compared to a PCB? I could be thinking about a new set in the fall... My MP32/KBS combo is pretty sickeningly good, though.

Titleist TSi3 10* (at 9.25*) w/ Tour AD DI 6X
Titleist TSR2 15* w/ Tour AD MJ 8X
Titleist TSR2 18* Hybrid w/ Fuji Atmos Blue Tour Spec 8X

Mizuno MP Fli-Hi 3 iron w/ KBS Tour V S HS'd
Titleist 716CB 4-P w/ DG AMT TI X100 SS'd
Vokey SM7 Slate Blue 54.10 (1* strong) and 58.08 with Onyx DGTI S400
PING PLD Anser D 35"

2021 ProV1 or Left Dash ProV1x (or random other tour quality balls LOL)

Thanks for the compliment.... I really like the 712u, I have made some really bad swings with it and the balls ended up on the green or not far off. What is a PCB?

Great bag, I game MIURA also. Just curious, I don't want to offend, but why the Vokeys with your Miuras? Are you not a fan of forged wedges, just wondering? We see the Custom Vokey grinds daily, big with the Japanese customers.....

I like the Miura wedges but I like the Vokey's more.... I don't mind the Vokeys being cast as I normally pure my wedges so they would feel good no matter what they were made of. Vokey actually thinks that cast wedges perform better and last longer. I don't know if this is just smoke and mirrors or facts from data that they received. In any case Vokey's are played by most PGA pro's and many are not paid to play them. If they are good enough for them then they must be okay for a hack like myself.

How's the 913HD off the tee? Trying to find a hybrid to use for mostly off the tee and the occasional par 5 second shot.
HD shines off the tee, I have had some issues with it off the deck. Off the tee it has been rock solid. I tried a few other hybrids recently (Anser, 913H, DHY, i20) and the only other true hybrid that I would consider is the Adams 9031. For me all the other hybrids just setup strange, either they are too big or have a shape that does not fit my eye. I think the HD and 9031 setup better than anything right now.

I'm thinking either an HD or Anser. What didn't you like about the Anser? Just the setup?

Scratchswinger's game right now is rock solid, best I have seen it. iteachgolf really helped you man, noticeably more solid and consistent. :drinks: I was going to mention how much better your ball flight is with the Covert Tour, but I wont ;)
