I wasn't at Callaway then but I assume you mean that it launched with a bunch of attention and interest, sold very well at first, but then it didn't really stick. Dude there is a reason Callaway is telling people to not give out info...headcover or not.
Then why start showing it to people in the first place?
THey have to show their reps.

It's the reps that go after and show the people and their buddies.

It's the reps jobs to show/sell the product to their accounts. The challenge is to keep all those people quiet. The need to keep everyone quiet about it is due to the fact it is "new technology". If the technology does get made public other companies, TMAG, can jump all over it and get something like it to market sooner than the planned release from Callaway. These companies are so good and so fast at getting product to market that you have to protect something like this. Otherwise I guarantee their would be counterfeits coming out of China before the real deal hits the shelves. That said, I had a chance to see and hit everything yesterday and it is good.

I deleted my post- sorry Callaway. I figured that since I had seen it that it was basically public knowledge as I am certainly not a Callaway insider.... also was never told it was secret info. I did think the new driver was great, it flies very well.

J - you are definitely biased, but that's not a bad thing. In terms of anticipation vs. actual performance, how would you say this one ranks? And which driver would you say it's closest to but better than?

Haha. I had a buddy of mine that was a scratch golfer that used the IQ with an X-Flex Rombax and use to hit that thing so freaking long and straight. I could never look down at the thing at address though. It's difficult to make a driver with lots of tech in it that looks traditional from address though. OEM's are constrained by cost as well. If price was no object, I am sure they could use different materials and methods in designing heads and shafts that really DO perform better than what we currently have. It's a challenge given these limitations to create something new every time. If Callaway allows you to change spin conditions in this new driver, that is a major leap forward in adustibility. Being able to control head weight, loft, face angle AND spin rate truly allows people to find the perfect set up for their swing without having to try 20 different shafts as well. I'm excited.

LOVED the Ft-i Squareway woods! I just got rid of mine last year after I put the Razr Fit in play. It was the first fairway that I actually had full confidence in hitting.

Depends on which driver your talking about. But I do not have enough experience with the new stuff to be saying it's better then X,Y, and Z clubs. Getting it out on the course and the trackman will tell me that. What I can say is it feels and sounds great and it has tech that is new in the golfing world. Useable, functional adjustability like never seen before.

I get a feeling that this driver will be about the same as every other new club that gets announced here ...... it's the best club ever created until people use it and it's no difference than other driver that is out there right now .....so go run out and spend 400 dollars for a driver that offers little to no difference than the club in your bag right now

I'm super excited to see this. This driver sounds amazing!!! This is my favorite time of year, as I get to see what will be in my bag 18-24 months from now when it is on major clearance. With mark downs and trade in just picked up my X Hot 3 wood for $80 brand new from a green grass shop. In about another 6 months or so, by the time the season starts here in PA I can replace my 09 X Forged (which I bought brand new in 2011) with the XHot pros. I recently saw that the X HOt drivers are down to $219. Another 6 months and one of those babys will be mine for less than $200.

Patent applications are published for the world to see 18 months after their filing date UNLESS an applicant requests that the application is not published, which was the case with this application. So, competitors could not see this application until today when it issued as a patent.

So essentially there isn't anything anyone could do about it anyway, even though they can see it? Of course, all anyone would have to do is slightly alter it and I'm sure anyone could find a way around a patent. Thanks for the info!

So if driver b and c are just other options (and apparently equals) to the optiforce, which came out last summer and didn't
set the world on fire, sounds already like this hype is overblown. If driver b and c are so awesome, who would ever fit into the optiforce 460 if they tried all 6?
Optiforce is part of our speed enhanced segment. This is particularly good for seniors and people who don't generate a lot of club head speed anymore. Lighter club head, longer and lighter shafts, more aerodynamic heads. Specifically designed to help people who are force limited create maximum club head speed and ease of launch. We were surprised that the head did so well on Tour because as we've said before, this line was not meant to target Tour type players. Of course these players were not building theirs as the retail versions were, in that they were going shorter shaft length and adding weight to the heads.

Driver B and C do not replace Optiforce at all. They are entirely different performance packages to deliver maximum distance. They will replace Razr Fit Xtreme.
A little off topic about BBA, but I had a chance to put a OF 460 through its paces this weekend, and other than being 46" ish, that club was solid.
Im glad to hear the OF is staying,as I think it could help a lot of people generate some speed....... and if you dropped the price on it, it could take place of the razr x...199.99, 299.99 for the X2 and 399.99 for B&C
