Callaway Big Bertha V-Series Fairway Woods: In-hand photos

Recommended Posts

Short Story: Callaway's Big Bertha V-Series fairway woods are lighter and more aerodynamic than the company's other fairway woods. That creates the potential for longer shots for golfers who are a fit for the club's launch conditions.

Click here to read our full story on the fairway woods on the front page.

Tried the 5 wood and Heavenwood today on the sim. Heavenwood went a smidge further, but I didn't like the extra 0.5" shaft length. Both felt nice though and really lightweight. I've been looking for a cheap 5w to put in the bag as a trial, but I may just trade for one of these. If I can talk myself into using a 57g shaft for FWs.

Love the 3 wood head address view. No interest in the weight or the sticker.

I agree, it's a nice looking head reminds me of a 910/913.

this 3w is awesome at address
is the head also super light, or just aerodynamic?
if the weight of the head is "normal", paired w a heavier shaft, it would be sweet I bet

Love the look of the sole and footprint, definitely reminds me of old school Callaway woods, which were awesome. Plus a black and red color scheme always appeals to me for some reason.

The head looks great at address, but I doubt the ultralight shaft would agree with me. Still waiting to see the driver which for some reason isn't around here in the usual retailers.

I just love the sole of this club: sleek, no frills, nice graphics. If I get one I may black out the Newton, but other than that it looks great.

From what I remember from hitting them, the V series fairway woods are larger. Similar to Great Big Bertha woods size, maybe a little bit smaller. Larger than normal, but not overly large. Definitely bigger than the X2HP 3w I game.

I also agree, very nice looking head from address. Maybe a little too much real estate down by the ball for my personal tastes, but nice shape.

Inbetween Razr Fit Extreme and Big Bertha Fairways--which I love. Seems to be at least..will have to look tomorrow night..I just think it looks great! When you set it down on the tile in the store it sits perfectly!!! Love that sole.

Have to see these in real life, the trend imo, is to go larger heads in these fairway woods which is why i luved the DET fairways since they were small and easy to "slide" behind the ball compared to the mega 3 wood heads now. Right now I am not convinced any weight savings in a fairway wood for is a big advantage since for me, I tend to slow my SS down for fairway to get better contact (not miscatching it with the ground) vs letting it rip full speed on a teed up driver. We'll see.

Just checked online in the UK, and these are £189 ($305), think I'll pass on that, until the prices reduces, it shouldn't be too long. Price drops will be inevitable.

Saw one of each (driver, 3, 5, Heavenwood) today. Store only had them on display so no chance to hit. I will say, they look fantastic from every angle. I don't like the Newton medallion on the sole but that's easily covered. On looks alone I'd swap out my X2H's. Overall club did feel very light but I have always played with lighter shafts. Can't wait to hit them.

I saw these yesterday. And they look incredible in person. The 5-wood sat dead open and had a very rich, high end, and pleasing shape. Reminiscent of the old Big Bertha heads from yesteryear!

How do they compare to the X2 Hot fairway woods (not the Pro). I found the X2 Hot the easiest 3 wood to get high in the air off the deck. The 5 wood version is really easy. On the other hand, if I could eke out a bit more distance with the BB V series, without giving up the ease with which I get the X2 Hot up off the deck, I would consider purchasing them
