Replace my Adams CMBs PLEASE!!

Ive owned maybe 4 sets of Irons since 2012 but keep reverting back to my Adams CMBs. Ive tried cally apex, adams mb2, ap1, ap2 .... but nothing performs, feels, and looks as sweet as the CMBs.

I use a TM UDI 3 iron, it came stock with the c taper lite, a lighter version of the 120g c tapers in my Adams irons & it suits my swing great just like the 120g version.

I don't have much money so to replace these will be a used set. I cant afford to experiment too much, but I'm fairly confident of what I need...

A forged (negotiable) players cavity (could maybe do with more forgiveness) that came factory standard with the c taper 120 or c taper lite, preferably the lite ... I want to be able to find a used set with the shafts I know work (or a shaft that performs very similarly)

Expert opinion required! :D

I like the look of the MP5, MP25 or even MPH5 ... that's all I can find that have the c-tapers in a lot of used sets.

on a side note: I know I could just keep the Adams CMBs, but a hoe gotta hoe :lol: I fancy a change after 5 years.

I used to have the CMBs - they were great but I sold them seeking a little more forgiveness. After limited success with Ping I series I took a chance on Srixon Z 545 and haven't looked back. I like the lighter shafts too and went with DG SL, purchased from Rakuten in Japan.

I can't help you with the C Taper Lite as I have no experience with those, but I do know that the Srixon comes with the Modus3 105 as a lightweight option. Lots of people seem to be playing Modus shafts now.

I went from Adams Pro Gold Forged Blades (pre CMB's) to Bridgestone J15 CB's. I could not be more pleased with my upgrade, plus the cost is less than other brands.

You've already tried a bunch of great irons. I would try to locate a shop that sells Srixon irons and give them a shot. It's also not fair to ignore all the love the JPX-900 line got this year.

My guess is you'd really like either the z765 or 900 Tour. I'm also guessing you're about to get a lot more recommendations on those two clubs.

Unfortunately Bridgestone has changed their marketing and pricing structure so that is no longer true. You might still find a new set but I think they are rare. Last I looked around there were only used sets available. Great club.

Might try the Cobra King forged tour. I have hit both the CMB and the Cobra's and thought them similar. You can find a good deal on the Cobra's.

If nothing feels, looks, or performs like your CMBs then I'd quit looking! Oh wait, this is WRX. Good luck if you keep searching.

i200s, MP25/5, JPX 900F/Tours, new MP18 line looks good too. ;)

funnily enough i have c tapers in mine (and have a 20* UDI) such a good iron

I played cmb's for quite some time, fantastic irons. Recently was fit for srixon 565 irons and I can't say enough good things about them. I really liked the 765s as well but wanted the extra forgiveness. Pretty easy transition, just took a while to adjust to the increased distance

My vote goes to Srixon 545 or 745. Just can't go wrong.

How about a nice set of mp-54's or MP-H4's?

Bought a set of MP-H5's with c-taper Lites ... hopefully these can unseat the magnificent CMB's from their throne!! :D

I was gonna suggest another set of CMB's or a set of X Forged '13 models... Let us know how the H5's go!

I have a set of CMB's in play at the moment with Nippon Modus 125 shafts which I just can not find anything to replace but I have decided to try a set of Mizuno JPX 900 tours with the same set up. I will tell you how it goes. It is just so hard to find an iron set that is as good as the CMB's

Have you tried the Adams MB2? They won't directly replace your CMB irons but the mb2 is an irons I recommend ever hoe owning at some point in their life. Otherwise get a set of XTD forged? It's the next generation of the CMB. Wait for the p770 to drop in price. They are built like the CMB. I personally think the CMB has a lot of influence in the P770 since Taylormade takes adams tech. The other obvious option is turning over to the dark side and go for a set of Titleist AP2 any generation. The iron that CMB copied.

You can also add the Mizuno JPX 850, MP-59 or MP-15 to your list... those models have been discontinued now but you can find a heck of a deal on them new in the box.

Get more CMB's honestly. If you're picky about looks at address buying really matches them while giving the same performance

This is what replaced my CMBs. Both outstanding clubs and both more forgiving than they appear. Can't go wrong with either. Both are 10s to look at and 11's in action.

I just switched this week to the p770's. Way more forgiving and with c taper lites to replace c taper 120s.

Can anyone confirm the Adams Idea CMBs have conforming grooves? They are not listed in the USGA database. I assume the do as they are not out that long, though now getting concerned.

I'm throw out the new Mizzy MMCs.....they should do the trick for you and get those pesky CMBs on the BST.

See if you can snag some MP5s. I love mine. They are quite forgiving. Honestly. doubt you will find anything to look as pretty in the bag while still having incredible performance.

I have the same issue. I am on my second set of cmb:s since they were released. (Also have one minty spare set in the garage) I have really tried to replace them but nothing works...

And everything has sent me back to the CMB:s and i have really been trying...

There really is some magic in the cmb:s, (even the grips seems to last longer on the cmb:s :-) I know i can keep playing them, but for a wrx:er this is a problem:-)

Almost getting ready to throw in the towel and be a cmb hauler for life...

I tried everything available except PXG and went with Fly-Z+ forged from 2 seasons ago. Only iron that felt better than my CMB

I'm in the same boat - been using my Adams Idea Pro Golds for probably 8 years and have intermittently tried other irons. Nothing can kick them out. Now I almost feel guilty thinking about trying something new - feels like we've developed a trusting relationship :)
