Older Forgiving Irons for Wife

Looking to build or buy my wife a "new" set of irons. She rarely gets out with me but is showing more interest. Forgiving is the name of the game.

I'd like to spend less than $150 (less is of course better) all in and looking for model recommendations from the community. I haven't played this game long enough to recall older irons that might fit the bill.

$150 might be a little tough, but if you can find some Cleveland Launcher's that would be a good place to start.

an older ladies set on the Bay for around 150 ,cobra ladies 3400 hi transition...my wife played them for the first five years she played...they worked

These, or a set of the older Cobra Fly-Z's. My wife has played both. I think she definitely prefers the Cobras.

I guess it wasn't as hard as I thought. Goes to show you the last time I bought used irons! :cheesy:

Might I suggest finding a set of Spalding Executive XE’s. They are a full set of hybrid style clubs from the late 80’s. Super easy to hit. I bought a set for my wife as she was starting out. Got them for less than $100 on eBay. I put on some fresh baby blue grips and did matching paintfill and they looked like new.

They are a fun club to hit too. I couldn’t resist taking a few swings with them.

My wife got started with a set of Mizuno MX 23, senior flex shafts. Worked out great.

Played lacrosse and rugby in college but she is 5'3". She has a set of Wilson Kmart specials with very noodly shafts which is her main motivation behind wanting an upgrade. Those likely aren't "real" ladies flex but I was still leaning towards a senior set. Great to hear that route has worked for your wife.

Rowenta makes some pretty forgiving irons. I do all the ironing in our house as my wife does not iron. Should be no problem getting an older model Rowenta, they last forever.

x-hot senior graphite. My wife doesn't even want to try any other irons which I guess is good for me. There's a joke in there somewhere.

Just make sure to bend them about 3* flat, she's as short as I am. Game changer after years of OTR clubs.
