Tiger Woods club fitting

OldTomMorrisOldTomMorris Members Posts: 2,084 ClubWRX
I was watching old footage on YouTube from the 1998 Bell South Classic and it appears to me that Tiger was slightly more upright in his posture at this point. I've looked for his club fitting spec but I can't find any information, although I did find one WITB from his Nike period where it was stated his irons were 1° upright.

Has the fitting on his clubs changed over the years?

Pretty sure he went from 1 upright to 1 flat.

Pretty sure he went from 1 upright to 1 flat.

This seems correct, at least during his days with Foley.
    driver: SRIXON Z745
    fairway: NIKE VAPOR 13*
    3-4 IRON: MIZZY MP18MMC FLIHI
    5-9 IRONS: MP5 DG AMT X100
    WEDGES; CLEVELAND RTX 4: 48, 53, 58, 64
    PUTTER; RIFE Cayman
BALL; various, ask me that day.
  • It has to have changed over the years. I mean, it's pretty tough to have vertebrates fused and not adjust your swing/fitting.

Yes they’ve changed slightly. I believe length and loft have always stayed the same, but lie has varied a degree or so over the years.

I can't find it but there was a press conference he did where he said he has played pretty much the same iron specs his whole life including X100's the only thing he has changed was the lie angle and they was around the Foley days. I am sure he is constantly making sure they are correct.

Very astute of you. His lie angles have been consistent with Mizuno standard specs in the past as well, which are flatter than most OEM's.

It's been widely known that his driver length was 43.5" back in the steel shafted driver days.

What I find very interesting is his driver loft. 8.5 head but actual measured loft of 11.25. Also interesting to see that he was playing the DI 6X, I only thought he played the DI 7X.

I thought the same thing. What would be the purpose behind that?

Their specs on that particular sheet was not factoring in the open face angle (+2.5-2.75*) for effective loft. His playing loft on that head would have been about 9.5-9.75*

That 2-iron @3:37 is just unreal. Unfortunately you can see why his left knee had so many issues, it was no match for that insane hip speed. He carried that thing about what, 265+ yards?

He sharpied them for a while, then they sparted making a black one, he was using a white one this year in some of the putters he used
