Round two of the FedEx Cup Playoffs happens this week in Chicago.

Course: Medinah #3 a par 72 of 7657 yards that seems to be changed every time they host a big event. I think the course will play about the same as it did for the 2012 Ryder Cup.

Purse: $9,250,000

FedEX Cup points: 2000

Field: The entire top 70 in the FedEx Cup standings are currently expected to start at press time. The first place points for the OWGR are expected to be about 72, keeping this event as one of the strongest of the year despite a field of just 70 payers.

The field will be battling it out for one of the thirty spots in the Tour Championship next week in Atlanta. Additionally, the higher your position in the rankings, the better starting position you will have at East Lake.

Making the final thirty is of MAJOR importance. Everyone in that thirty is exempt into all four major championships next year. No matter how bad a year you are having (looking at you Patton Kizzire), you still get in the majors.

This is the final year of the BMW sponsorship and this tournament will have a new name next year. As for the old name, Western Open, the Western Golf Association still participates in this tournament. The tournament still raises money for the Chick Evans Caddie Scholarship Fund. Since 2007, the tournament has raised over $30,000,000 for this fund.

Radio said he should be getting here today and still scheduled for the pro-am tomorrow teeing off at 6:50am. I wonder if he picked that time or if it was previously scheduled?

A few weeks ago, mornings were in the brisk 60s. Last week it has been pretty muggy out, real heavy humid air. I am already going Sunday for the finish, but thinking about also going Thursday just in case there is another WD.

Chances of Tiger playing this week are about on par with his making it to East Lake to defend his Tour Championship.

Just saw a video of TW walking across the parking lot, something not right :(, and as a fan, I want him to play well, but not optimistic about this.

jesus christ. can the guy hit a shot during at least a pro am before we start doing this? I hope this is said with sarcasm.

Jesus Christ I am entitled to an opinion!. Just sharing my thoughts, could care less if you agree. I am as big of a TW fan as there is and no one wants him to contend more than I do. Sorry I offended you

His walk in general is different. It's like hes walking on egg shells at all times

I’m thinking Tigers got some physiological hesitation regarding his back, happens a lot when recovering from injury. It’s like you get scared to use it subconsciously and move differently to protect but he’s got really good physical therapists so I’m sure they would get him past that

Which is very normal for people with back issues. any misstep or change in your gait could send you to bed for a few weeks. Walking on hills on the course etc is handled with the same care. Hes being careful, thats a very good thing

I am at the point of not wanting to watch Tiger now. The rug has been pulled out from under out feet with regard to him being back and healthy enough to compete over a series of events. It’s like watching an old boxer who has had one fight too many but keeps on going. The senses and feels re there, the body just won’t let him do it anymore.

I doubt he'd be willing to accept being a ceremonial golfer because if he did what you suggest that's what he'd be. He'd soon not be exempt for the US Open too as his OWGR would tumble.

He's got 5 year exemption for winning the Master's, correct? USGA has also shown willingness to give past champs a couple special exemptions after their exemptions run out. Given his history with USGA championships Tiger probably can count on playing every US Open until he's 50.

He can play as long as he wants at the Masters & PGA and up until 60 years old at The Open. It's a 10 year exemption for the US Open. He's guaranteed in all four for 5 years after his Master win but I can't see that scenario were he only plays those 4 events in season and thats it.

I was at practice round yesterday, heard tiger showed up in parking lot around 2. Thought he might head to range but never did, got worked on and went to some green behind clubhouse that I don’t even know if spectators can get to, I couldn’t find it. Was late in day anyway and most people left, like 4:30pm. This course is much better than Conway farms that they have had bmw at in recent years
