I love mine, I have no issues with them. As of now there is nothing that I want to try and change to.

Had significant flyer issues with my first set with Proj X 6.5. I'm low spin normally and this combination made them awful. Tried a set with S400 and while still long, I'm 10 rounds in without 1 flyer. I'd say fitting is key as it shocked my how bad they were after all the hype. Magical fix with an easy shaft change.

I've got just the P790 3 iron and 4 iron heads (original version) and I've tried many shafts thinking that the 3i and/or 4i would be a good driving iron played with my Adams XTD Forged or my Cobra King Forged MB's... for whatever reason I can not find any shaft combo that I like in them. I've tried several shafts; KBS Tour V 110, C-Taper Lite 110s, Modus3 Tour 105s, and UST TourSPX Recoil Prototype 95 F5, and currently have a Graphite Design Tour AD 85s in my P790 3i head.. still not finding any love for the P790..

I have the 2019 P790s and love them. Great looks, forgiveness and sound/feel. Agree with others that fitting is key with these. Love them with the PX LZ 120 6.0 shafts!

Added OG 5/6 to my bag to blend with P770s. Nice thing about the new 790 is the influx of slightly used older ones on the bay and such :) Blends nicely when bent, and is for me very forgiving. The feel is a tad clicky to me but I get over it for the forgiveness relative to the 770s. I gather if I full set'd them I would think they felt pretty soft for a hollow based technology iron. I hit a demo 2019 and yes different but not enough for me to pay full retail for my experiment in blending: old clubs need love too!

Same with me, OG 790s, 4-6 and 770 7-pw! Shooting my lowest rounds ever with multiple 73s, they're not going anywhere anytime soon

Nice Lefty. Do you rate them a tad clicky as well? Yes its a subjective thing just curious. For me center strikes feel pretty soft on the 790 however off center I feel click yet they fly quite well, similar misses from my 770 long irons will easily be 5ish yards short in my real world track man which is a 180y par 3 I play weekly, and the 190 driving range target green with strike monitoring technology by Dr. Scholl. :)

I have the 2019 version 4-G with C Taper 130 X. Zero flier issues whatsoever. I hit the number every time. Getting fit for these heads is key, truly makes a world of difference.

790s Compared to the 770 can be a little clicky on mishits, but center contact feels good... My miss is toe, and I will say the 770s might be a little more punishing but not much in it at all!! I've got the full set of bot so I've done some head to head testing with both being the same loft! With that being said, I do have to say that the 770 were a little more consistent for me distance and dispersion wise, hence the combo set!

Cool, I find the 770s to be very forgiving on mishits for a forged CB. My miss has been heel but working on my path to get it better and experience that toe side of center once in a while. They way its behaved for me, a heel miss on the 6i may fly 158-160 when near center hits closer to 170. The 790 seems to give me 5 more on the same miss. A very bad miss that drops to 150 (and it does happen for me :) and the 790 keeps it closer to 160. So the miss is just less crappy, and possibly on front of green or not in hazard. For my game and strike patterns, big big fan of the blend and the 790. If shopping new today, I would give the MP20 range a hard look.

To follow up on this I played today (shot a 77). I will say I think the Apex 19 are a tiny bit more forgiving on less than good strikes. I did have a couple just fall out of the air I have never seen the Apex do that. That being said when the P790 irons were on they were fantastic. I personally think it has a better sound/feel than the Apex (they make more of a solid crack sound). I only hit 44% of greens in regulation but I was driving, chipping, and putting well today. If I had to make a decision right now I would probably stay with the Apex irons. However I plan on going back to the range and playing one more round with the P790 irons before making a final decision.
