Congrats to Bryson!

The field last year was even weaker when Ryan Moore won since it was during the Olympics but nobody remembers that.

In kind of a joking way, I didn't think it was possible for a stand alone PGA TOUR event to have a weaker Strength of Field rating than this week's 140, but you are correct.

Last year's John Deere had a paltry 79. Kind of makes me wonder what the record low is on TOUR. :)

I'm buying some single lengths and a putter I can anchor tomorow. Stat.

Congrats Bryson. Glad to see the monkey removed.

Asterisk by this win by Bryson because of weak feild, ammirite?

The Masters Invitation and two year exemption won't have an asterisk.

Jordan Spieth's career is probably a whole lot different right now without his John Deere win.

Not to mention those other "chumps" who made the JDC their first victory on the PGA Tour - Payne Stewart and David Toms!

I'm not a big fan of Brysons persona but I was happy to see him win. He fought his way back to tie Rodgers and eventually win.

I don't know what Rodgers was thinking on 17, I guess hindsight is 20/20 but he knew the score, all he had to do was par / par for a playoff. Take the 3 wood off the tee, keep the ball on the fairway and hope for a good approach shot to set up a birdie attempt.

So if RF wins The Open is the f7 price drop null and void? Congrats to BAD, bump the naysayers...they mentioned you in same breath as Payne today for wearing the hat.

Did either of you guys watch his presser after the round? He came off incredibly humble, open and honest about his game.

He explained the significance of the hat, and how Payne has had a huge influence on his game/career. I get it, some people rub me the wrong way, too (directed at new2), but he sounded genuinely honored and grateful for the opportunity to win today.

I'm glad he finally got his win. He learned a valuable lesson: It's not as easy as it appears. He paid his dues and was rewarded. Congrats kid!

Yes, he I did see it and he was very humble which I prefer over his attempts to impress us with his genius. I have no doubt he's a smart guy and that some of this "mad scientist" hype is marketing and a way for him to stand out so I can appreciate it but sometimes it gets to be too much.

This weekend I enjoyed watching him and was impressed with how he fought for the win, shooting 30 on the back 9 on Sunday is impressive. McCord was doing Bryson a disservice yesterday and today with all his talk about how smart and analytical BC is, it was just over the top.

He is very likable when he's humble, he's a person not a computer so I hope when he does put on his "mad scientist" jacket, he does so in small doses.

This field was hardly weak.

I don't think any player thats a card carrying professional to be weak.

I guess it's a relative thing.

I suppose it can be looked at in that way

Well said. Agree commentators do no justice to him. I love that he's an analytical player, but I'd rather hear Bryson himself explain what he's doing than hear, aww, gee golly, he's got all those formulas and whatnot.

Yeah, he analyzes his game. Tell me how. That's what's interesting, not just repeating the same bullsh*t over and over.

McCord was in a veiled way calling him a headcase and that single length irons were a joke on Friday and Saturday coverage. His tune changed late on Sunday. Comical stuff really.

Did somebody say they're glad he got rid of the monkey? This dude absolutely 100% never had a monkey on his back to win. If there was a monkey, it was to start making cuts. Yes he won the amateur and NCAA in the same year, but come on...

It's certainly arguing over a mostly meaningless expression, but surely you would agree there were high expectations and attention on him, no?

what putter was Steve Stricker useing?.........

He's toyed with a Scotty GoLo from time to time over the past year, but that White Hot Odyssey remains his mainstay.

That putter has made him about $30,000,000 on Tour in his career. Pretty sick when you think about it.

Still rocking the 913D2 driver, too. And leads the PGA Tour in driving accuracy. And still plays the 710 AP2 if Im not mistaken.

Its not all about the newest equipment, kids.

I know he's worked with Scott Fawcett and does the DECADE app course management stuff. That's pretty analytical stuff that we're unlikely to ever hear a commentator discuss (too boring for the masses).

The only head case here is McCord, and that has been for some years now...
