Scotty Cameron Experts, What Do I Have Here?

Picked this up today from a local shop. They sell consignment items and apparently someone came in and left a LOT of Scotty Cameron putters to sell. Quite a few of them were tour issue and off the tour including a tour issue 009.

 

I can't tell if it is copper all the way through or just a coating. Did Scotty ever make a copper Newport with a sound slot cut into it or is it carbon steel with a copper coating?

IIRC it was the "Newport Beach" models that had the sound slot.

 

Haven't seen that finish though

Lack of milling tells me that it has been plated. My guess is an old beached Newport, that wasn’t remilled and that has been plated by an aftermarket shop..

I don't believe that one is part of the limited copper set. The Newport in the set did not have a sound slot and the set putters all had an engraving on the toe side of the face.

that's correct, not part of the set. I believe this was a special issue with the beach slot. I think the special ones had an engraving on the face 1 of xxx or something like that.

The COA (A-003609) for this one says 1 of 8. The one that the OP posted lacks mill marks, the finish is dull, so it may be an aftermarket job.

I agree with jasantx about the lack of milling and the dull finish however the sound slot does appear to be factory. To me it appears the same as the one he posted and is very similar to the Inspired by Duval in length and width.

They still have most of them. There were some Futuras, a Coronado, Detour, etc.

The OP's putter DOES have mill marks... Click on the photo and zoom in. Also, copper that is left on its own, will patina and become dull. I think the OP may have fallen in to something very special.
