Looks a little deeper in pictures. Could also be a smaller head.

Looks to be more rounded along the back, so I suspect its a smaller head.

    Looks pretty sharp

No seam line on the crown either. Would be interesting to know about the differences.

I was told the diamonds are to reflect face angle. The three diamond head would be the most open.

Pure speculation, but I could see one of the diamond heads being modeled after the Epic Forged. 450cc, slightly deeper face and a more rounded shape.

Diamond Head were a great band. Right at the heart of NWOBHM. As for the heads I imagine they are spin and hook killers....as in no need for them to come to retail.

It will be interesting to see if any guys on tour playing the Flash choose the non diamond "retail" version. So far I believe we are two for two on guys using the diamond versions (Garrigus and Stroud).

Granted, we haven't seen detailed pictures. But, there are some pics on the USGA conforming list. The diamond heads all appear to be different shapes and sizes.

On the GolfWRX instagram post about Min Woo Lee's witb, his flash subzero is the three diamond version. To me, comparing the photos on the USGA website, the 3 star version looks significantly longer front to back than the other versions.

Difficult to say. The angles and distances from which the pictures were taken are different between the two.

Would love a head without the line on the top. And if they really are varying levels of open-ness, ill need the triple diamond. but my only chance of getting a lefty one is if i steal it out of phils bag when he isnt looking image/ninja.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':ninja:' />

It designates a difference in CG for each one. 3 diamonds is what most guys are gravitating towards.

There were a few different Rogue SZ heads with different amounts of spin as well (Rogue SZ-V and others had different serial numbers), so the diamonds is just an easier way to delineate between the different heads.
  • Not just CG difference but other super duper secret side sauce as well.....

Callaway usually has a smaller CG, Tour-Only offering, and have used the "double black diamond" in the past to designate the lowering spinning, lower CG, "harder to hit" version of their offerings. I would have to imagine this is some sort of continuation on that trend, likely somewhere in the 440cc range and deeper faced. Pics can be deceiving when they aren't in the same photo side-by-side.

The more posts I see with Callaway staff players using the Flash Sub Zero, the more I see these 3 diamond heads in use. Sergio, Garrigus, etc. It makes me wonder what it is about these heads that makes them so popular with the tour pros. What does the tour head have that the retail version doesn't?

Something about it bothers me. If the driver works for me, that's great. But I didn't like when TM did this either. They have these pros touting the companies latest and greatest. When in all reality, they're playing a completely different club.

I know tour issue designs are not new. But Callaway can't be thrilled all their pros want an alternate crown design.

It has more to do with face design and CG I believe. The 2 diamond is for players that miss towards the toe, 3 diamonds I believe is high on the face and I don't know about 1 diamond.

I have the 2 diamond and it is significantly better on my toe misses.

Make an epic flash with standard red accents, no line on the top, the exact shape as the razr fit xtreme at 440cc with the sound fixed and I’m in. Otherwise it’s the m5 tour or the g410.

They all seem to be different shapes and sizes. I'd love to see some pics of your double diamond head if you were so inclined. Does the face seem taller? It looks more compact.

That is a very interesting theory. With the artificial intelligence behind the face it would make sense for callaway to design club faces that suit certain misses better than other ones. Though you would think that if this is a possibility, why wouldn't they make this an option for the everyday consumer,? I have been a long time callaway loyalist, but this is putting a bad taste in my mouth. The thought that tour players are getting significantly superior product to than the consumer is aggravating. I am fully aware that for the majority of average golfers, a "strike specific" face is effectively useless. but for the more advanced players with a consistent, or predictable miss, why would they not want to provide them with the best possible driver?

If you look at the confirming photo of the 3 star it has the standard Epic Flash SZ weight. If you look at the photo linked by RdS22 if has what appears to be an older Epic weight in the front...

I've tried the Epic Flash and it was good but span more than my Epic. I'd love to be able to put a heavier weight in the front but I don't want to increase the overall weight.
