Most Forgiving Driving Iron?

Looking for some feedback and insight on what everyone considers to be the most forgiving driving iron when struck off center. I plan to make the time to demo and be properly fitted in the near future, but until then I’m curious to hear what others think and have experienced.

 

At the moment I am looking at:

 

Srixon U85

Callaway UT

Taylormade GAPR Mid

 

Are there others I should be considering that are more forgiving?

Can't go wrong with either. Srixon higher flying. Callaway more bullet like. Right shaft is key

I just got a Ping G410 Crossover 2 and it’s pretty forgiving. Very easy to hit off the deck because of its sole camber.

Callaway Apex Hybrid! Hate hybrids but can’t miss the left

GAPR lo is probably the most forgiving UT iron so mid is definitely more forgiving

the bigger the more forgiving. The ping crossover series is probably the biggest. Adams DHy is very under the radar and underrated. You can hunt one down for cheap. Titleist TMB is small but it has tungsten weighting to increase the forgiveness.

Based on CG locations, Gapr mid is the most forgiving.

I play the Srixon U65 and it's the most forgiving one I've played (T-MB, Taylormade, etc.).

I've tried 4 including the Maltby HDI, Mizuno MMC Fli Hi, Tour Edge CBX Ironwood, and Cobra King Utility. I really like my Cobra but the Ironwood is really easy to hit.

Nike Vapor Speed 3 iron, 19°, good size but still decent topline, flybeam forgiveness. $50 from Dallas golf on eBay but you gotta replace the shaft

I'm gaming the Callway X forged 18's right now and have been killing my 3 iron off the tee. I'm looking to dump my 3 wood and go with the UT 18. However I need to make sure I'm hitting it 20-30 yards farther than my 3 iron, or it wouldn't be worth it, especially if I'm dumping my 3 wood.

 

I hit a UT21 in a simulator a couple of days ago and it felt realllllly good. Some of the utility irons I've tried in the past have been a little clunky and not very workable. This thing felt just like a regular long iron.

I have a Mizuno mp 18 mmc fli hi both 2 and 3 iron. My friends kill them. However just doesn’t fit my eye. Going to be getting rid of both of them. PM me if interested!

The Srixon U85 and the Callaway Apex UT are the two best in overall performance for me. Easiest to control and long. (with the right shaft that is)

So I ended up getting fit at Club Champion and the clear winner was the Taylormade GAPR Lo with a KBS Graphite Hybrid Prototype shaft. Shots were a perfect “medium-ish” trajectory (averaging around 30 feet or so in height) and producing some ball speeds at or just over 150mph. The GAPR was definitely more forgiving than expected and versus everything else I tested. Looking forward to getting it in the bag eventually. Thanks to all for the responses.

I wish I can swing a DI.

It is great from the tee but am way better with hybrids from the deck.

I picked up the u85 on a whim, got the stock recoil shaft and it flies higher than I’d like on a typical shot.  However, the club is so easy to hit and an automatic 250 off the tee (2iron).

Anyone with a moderate swing speed (99ish with driver) play the gapr lo? Or would it be too hard to elevate without faster clubhead speed?

I have a Wilson Staff Fg Tour Utility iron that practically swings itself. It's a bomber for sure. Unfortunalty it's sitting in my basement. It's for sale on the cheap if anyone is interested. Xstiff shaft.

The most forgiving driving iron is a hybrid.  ;)

But seriously, I have the P790 UDI-2 and I like it. I'm not terribly consistent with it, but it offers strong distance and my misses are manageable. But I'm also experimenting with a low-loft, low-launch hybrid (at the moment, a Titleist 818 H2 at 17 degrees). I'm curious to see if it gives me similar distance numbers, still with a penetrating flight, but with a touch more forgiveness from the rough and sketchy lies.
