M5 and M6 drivers sit open?

Is it just me or has anyone noticed most of the M5 and M6 drivers sit very open? Have only seen them at my local shop which has about 10 of each, but all of them sit very open. Not sure if this is just because I am sitting them down on a hard surface but it makes me think I need to manipulate the face. How about those of you that have hit outside on grass. Did either of these sit severely open?

When I hit it outdoors, I thought it sat square or maybe just a hair open. It was perfect. My M5 also sits perfect. Now, there's going to be variance between heads due to manufacturing tolerances, so it's possible the ones you saw were more open. Nothing a face angle change with the loft sleeve wouldn't fix.

Also, TaylorMade does a good job hiding the slightly more open toe with Twist Face with the paint, but I find that it is noticeable if you look at the club at address in just the right way. I saw the same with M3/M4.

Both the M5 and M6 have a 14 degree option called the Rocket 3. It's listed on the pages for the M5 and M6 fairways.

Today's Golfer, the UK magazine had Brian Bazzel from Taylor Made in their latest edition and his quote was "We've softened TwistFace a little, which was at the request of Tiger Woods. Where M3 and M$ needed a 2* open face angle to look square, M5 and M6 are much more like 1-1.5*. We've also tweaked the top edge so it looks a little straighter too."

My M6 sits way open (3°) or at least it falls open soloing it on ground...it is most fade bias club I've had since SF TP 2.0......so nice to sit on tee box and not worry so much about going left

I have yet to seriously hook this head

My buddy went to M5 cuz of extreme fade bias of his M6....

I love this head for this simple reason....

My M3 may not be Open if you placed it in a jig but I feel like when you place it on the ground it tends to fall open. Most open looking driver I’ve ever held. The M5/M6 seemed to do the same.

Same deal with the old K15 driver. Neutral but if you soled it in the SFT heel pad it rocked the face closed like 6*.

By the quote above, I presume you mean AIM THE FACE? If so, I would highly recommend you start doing that. I mean, you do it with your irons and putter already, right? Why would you expect the Driver/FWs to be able to aim themselves just because the sole is wider? After all, we don't play off a flat floor. Even tee boxes can have an irregular surface. Try asking the better players at your club if they aim their driver & FWs or if they just sit them on the ground and hope for the best.

Most of the retail heads we measured in the boss' retail shop are between .5 degrees closed and .5 open. Most of the Tour issue heads are .5 open to 1.5 open depending on what the player wants. These are all in the STD setting.

You're getting more interested in a M5 tour head the more you post about it!!

The launch and spin are pretty unique but if you get it dialed in, you won't find a longer hitting driver.

It's funny that you say it's it's open

at the sale for Black Friday there was about 50 drivers M6 has an M5 I probably went through 40 of them before I found one that set Square

all the 9 were open it wasn't until I found a 10.5 that sat square but also looked like it was a 9! they measured it had 9.5 degrees of loft to differentiate

so not saying that TaylorMade was open but it was really funny that all the g400 look open too.

So maybe they're trying to differentiate between the sft 4-ping and the D type for TaylorMade?

They definitely are more square or open than other drivers. They also are very fade biased. So much so that Rory and a lot of other tour players put one weight in draw just to neutralize the head.
