anyone looking to go play on simulators over the winter this place was fun it’s on 206 north in sandyston, about 15 minutes past chatterbox.

2 courses are crystal spring are going to be open this weekend. friday saturday and sunday.

what courses were open? Wild turkey is fun, and ballyowen is prob my favorite of them all.

Wild Turkey and Cascades were open. No way they ever opening Ballyowen in the offseason. Too protective of that course. Crystal Springs itself hasn't been open at all during the offseasons either. I suspect because the ground is wet, and all the hills, they don't want people sliding down them walking from the fairways to the cart path (I'm guessing).

 

I was up there on Saturday and it was busy. I'm sure it was even busier on Sunday when the wind died down.

As of this comment, only 50 days til Spring and more importantly 64 days til the "official" start of the season. We've been lucky with the weather so far. Just pray we don't get that end of March foot of snow :-/

 

Looking forward to the opening of the PGA Store in East Hanover as well. I'll go to the grand opening, maybe I'll get lucky and win a sleeve of balls or whatever.

hope all you fellas are enjoying your quarantine as best as you can. I have been messing around with grips etc to make the time pass once i get home from work.As far as experiments go from basement to the yard i settled on no wrap for the top hand with 4 for the bottom, i shall see once we get to go play again if it transfers over. picked the grips off amazon and surprisingly enough they are very nicely made and the grip itself feels like it will be prefect for some hot weather when it finally comes.

Good to hear from this thread. I thought we were going to have golf to help get us through, but no luck. I think it's hard to argue that golf is a pretty safe activity, but I just think it kind of flies in the face of wanting to keep people home. I'm coping surprisingly well. My wife was all for me getting out but when I mentioned I stopped for a bagel and coffee on the way she asked if I washed my hands before eating. I hadn't (course bathrooms closed). Asked if I used hand sanitizer. I hadn't. I said it was fine, golf course shop was closed, paid online. She said it wasn't about that, it was touching door handles, cash at the bagel shop, self-serve coffee. Made me realize how easily I could bring something home.

Curious to see how long until they relax. Looking at the numbers, seems NJ is a week or two behind NYC, and if so, we've got weeks to go until it loosens.

I'm hoping weeks myself, the reality of this virus is just unreal. still wanna know what all these people use to use to clean their homes prior to the out break. now some rumors are that the virus likes ibuprofen, and is making some cases possibly worse.

 

Heart goes out to all the hospital workers and their families. I know its been a stressful time in my house with my wife being a nurse.

It's somewhat slowed me down from buying stuff....

Currently doing some hotmelt projects to pass the time...Live in a condo so I'm basically boned right now. I can hit little pitches and stuff outside in a grassy area, that's it.

I did some quick research. Closest open course is 3.5 hours away in Alexandria, VA. Doesn't seem too bad. Leave around 6am and be back home at 7pm.

Saw an email from Bethpage and also saw that some courses in Delaware are open. I’m on that NJ GOlf Club mailing list and they said they’re looking to book a day in Delaware but no details.

don’t think I’ll be going anywhere, and I echo the well wishes for our medical workers, first responders, grocery store workers, restaurant kitchen staff. All these folks who are keeping our society running. Seems like the last thing I should be thinking about is golf. But then I also think we need to maintain sanity.

I think if like.... May rolls around and I haven't played, then I'd be willing to take a trip to Delaware. As of now though this gives me more time to focus on my stroke and other short game things.

Do you guys know of any good net systems that pop up and go down really easily? Robust netting would be key.... I can't be launching balls into peoples houses.

There is a petition to our ridiculous governor to open to NJ golf courses. I doubt it will do much but you never know.

i'm pondering a trip to mid-pines and pine needles -- i need to get on course. this quarantine is killing me esp with no one allowed on golf courses.

they added a few things on the 24th. hope they add golf. definitely safer then getting your phone fixed and them not showing symptoms yet.

the lynx in port jervis is open. just emailed and got an email back. cash only.

 

i have played there a few times. it’s a easy walk except just one green to tee.

Hope everyone is doing well. Can't even do driving range, which stinks. I've been able to cope with this well, so far, as Golf season technically didn't become official til Yesterday. Now, when it's the 3rd weekend in April and it's 68 and sunny and we're still stuck inside, then I may start getting crabby.

 

Been working on shallowing out the club more on the downswing before we got shut down and it was really starting to come around and see results. Hopefully I'll be able to pick up where I left off.

 

With that said, my prediction is Memorial Day (there abouts) when stuff starts to get lifted.

This whole no golf thing is really tough to deal with. Hope this is all over by the end of April but I doubt it. First member guest already gone!

The no golf thing makes no sense. State allows people to go bike riding or hiking in parks, stand in lines for takeout food, ice cream, or the post office to mail something. But we can't social distance on a golf course in the fresh air. How is playing golf different than any of the other things we are allowed to do?

They are starting to crack down on that. I live in Monmouth County and was at Sandy Hook beach on Saturday and it was packed. Saw an article thereafter about just how easy this thing spreads at the beach. What do you know all state parks are now closed down., including the beach. Going to get worse before it gets better, but a bummer nonetheless.

The way Murphy has been talking, I wouldn't be surprised if we're not allowed on the golf course till August. NJ, NY and CT governor's are saying that they want to open things back up together at the same time. This whole situations sucks. I'm around more people when I have to go food shopping than I would be if I were golfing.
