Adding in an update...I played in a match play tournament Friday/Saturday and the putter performed beautifully - when I let it do the work.

I changed up my grip to be more unified and remove my ability to manipulate the putter. When you let the putter swing, it’s automatic. It’s just challenging for me to let it happen all the time.

I am left handed and am describing this as a lefty...I started with a conventional reverse-overlap grip and practiced with my thumbs off the grip. When I put my thumbs back down, I would start manipulating the club again. I then went to basically holding the putter in my left hand and overlapping three of my right hand fingers (pointer, middle, and ring) over my left hand. This left my right pinky on the top of the grip. My thumbs were then closely aligned and on each side of the press grip. This change in grip made it much harder for me to do much more than just grip the putter and let it swing. I’ll be curious to see how long it lasts, but it seems to be working for now.

If you search youtube for "directed Force one-ball drill" and Directed Force 2-ball drill you'll find those. The best way to get it dialed quick is one handed putting from long range which will teach you to use gravity to control speed rather than acceleration to control speed. From short range, hit a bunch of putts with your thumbs off the putter to build trust that the face stays square on its own and also to help your body figure out a way to get just let the putter do its thing!

@labgolf Do you have other photos of the grips available for sale. I’m considering a new grip but the pics on your site only show one angle and it’s hard to see what I’d be getting.
Also, my understanding from this thread is a new grip on the B2 shouldn’t throw off the balancing much, but could alter swing weight. Is that correct?
Would it be the same for 2.1?
Thanks!

Not specifically. I would say to let the grip lead you to where you need to be to let the putter do its thing. For me, I used to grip putters with a standard reverse overlap, strong left hand. The OG lead me to working my palms a little more under the grip. My thumbs are now separated. The way you hold the grip does seem to be the most common adjustment people make but there isn't a lot similarities to what people change. Mostly people find a way to hold it that gets their hands out of the way and not giving them as much "control" over the putter so that the Putter can control itself.

im having great success putting with the putter when I look at the hole, seems my distance is better that way and I just let the gravity do its thing, if I dont look at the putter then I just let it workthe shaft became loose after 2 days and I pulled it out and tried to superglue it, hope it works and I didnt glue it back crooked, that was strange though that it came apart so quickly.@labgolf

Oh no! Did you get it from us or ebay? If you got it from us, we will of course replace it. Please email Matt@labgolf. and he can get the replacement going.
Regarding looking at the hole, it makes sense. When we become ball or putter conscience, bad things happen. When we are target focused good things happen. Hopefully you can get to a place where you can be target conscience but still look at the ball. Keep us posted!

Good stuff in this thread and great customer service from the LAB group! I ordered the DF 2.1 b/c I just don't play as much anymore and figured I could use some help. I received it on the first tee before a club event and proceeded to shoot 75 making a few birdies and 1-2 three putts, but the alignment choice was wrong so I turned it back in.

In the meanwhile I ordered the B2 in brass as that was the one I was eyeing all along. I've been playing Seemore FGP and Edel E-2 Tourque Balance putters the last 2 years. Well that one came in and I received it again on the first tee of our club event and shot 72 with 6 birds. I've been a 3-5 hcp for quite a while but I was surprised how well I scored first round out with both putters. I did have a 68 with it in my first round out since the Shelter-In-Place orders...but that was raised cups so you know kinda sorta counts.

Service: I mentioned in an email to Sam that the brass was a bit heavy to me and he offered to exchange it for the stainless model. I sent it overnight b/c I had a Pebble tee time in 10 days. They expedited the job and it came in with 2 days to spare. Shot 77 at Pebble.

I have changed the grip to my favorite Rosemark 1.52. Like has been mentioned I've found light grip pressure and length of stroke controls the pace. It feels very heavy if you try to go short and change direction quickly and give it a HIT....(it almost feels like you create lag if you rush the stroke).

Thanks to Matt and Sam for their service and quality product!

That's exactly how I have the most success with it as well. The tech is letting the putter come through straight, so my brain is able to take over with the correct stroke for the distance when I'm looking at the hole (actually concentrate on the stick).

Have you sent in a fitting video to labgolf yet, to understand your specs? It is very accurate. See their website for the instructions.

That way you'll know what you're looking for. Lab Golf does post some of their factory seconds on the bay for really good prices.

Changing the grip will technically knock it out of balance but the difference will be negligible. EXTREMELY unlikely you'd notice. Obviously we want the grip on as straight as possible but not over concerns about the balance. If you are installing the 1.L, ignore the locating bar at the top of the grip and instead use your feel to determine if its straight. I know its awkward since its oval but you got this!

I have been waiting for a couple of years for a blade version of the LAB concept. Being a mechanical engineer the LAB technology struck me immediately as i read about it. And it helped me better understanding what traditionally balanced putters actually do or want to do during the stroke.

Finally I got my Blad 2 and I am now extremely excited for the way it performs. But I have been struggling at first.

The centered-centered straight shaft into the putter head is something you need to get accustom to. It interferes with your view at the ball and alignment lines and possibly with your stance. But no big deal after a bit of practice.

The forward press grip coming with the putter was not a good experience for me and I got back to my favourite grip.

The balance is very different than traditional putters (obviously) and I had to learn to avoid manipulating the putter. This involved some changes in my grip that took some time to figure out, in particular the position of the right hand thumb.

Still, I was struggling and even thinking about dropping it because I could not hit the sweet spot on a regular basis. Many times the putter gave me an awful feedback and putts did not roll well and end up short. I was thinking the sweet spot must be so tiny that I have to hit the center of the face much more precisely. But no this was not the problem, it turned out I was hitting the ball too low on the face, hitting it "thin". I made some adjustments and wow the stroke is fantastic and the ball comes out rolling perfectly.

Now that everything fits together, I feel really confident in every situation particularly on short putts to make it and on long putts to get the right pace. Just rock my shoulders and let the putter do its thing!

I think this year I will have a lot of fun on the greens and make everything. Thanks LAB Golf.
