When do you crave golf more?

lchang

Recommended Posts

It seems logical that you'd miss it most after not playing for a long time. (People in cold weather can relate to that right now, I'm sure.)

But I can't be alone in feeling sometimes that I want to play most badly right after a round: If I just played badly, I want to get out there immediately and play better. And if I just played well, then I want to get out there and do it again because it was so fun!

What say you?

Always tempted to grab a bucket and hit the driving range after a round of gold (to just hit more balls, work on something that came up on the round, or get the bad shots from the round out of my system)... so it's really hard to say which makes me want to play more. Both, probably.

Yeah, probably both. If I could play or work on the range all day everyday, I most likely would.

I crave it now. Between the temperature and not hitting balls since November due to broken ribs, I put my vote in for "not playing in a long time"

Both. After a heart attack I laid in recovery thinking (dreaming) of playing. Sometimes after a bad round I feel like heading right back out because I left so many shots out there.

Haven't hit a golf ball since late October. I've got a strong golf jones going right now.....wish I was jumping on a jet plane bound for sunny climes.

And the current weather: -4*. Sigh, golf seems rather distant at the moment.

I thought just about everyone wants to play at least another nine holes if they've just finished having a particularly good round. Once in a while I'll do that, expecting to continue on with great play.....doesn't happen usually. I guess it's because I'm "expecting" to play well & expectations are a killer.

The benefit of having that 'want' to play again after you play badly (or good, whatever) is you can. You have the option. When it's 0* outside, playing isn't an option. I've been wanting to get out to a course since mid-November. Thankfully, I'm heading to warmer weather in less than two weeks where I should be able to get 2-3 rounds in, then again beginning of March.

I think it's much, much worse when you don't have the option to play, so yeah, I say I want it more when the chance isn't even there.

I want it more after a bad round. If I shoot a good score I have a feeling of contentment and peace that lasts a couple of days. If I play bad I want to get back out as soon as possible.
[/quote]

That is exactly how I feel........so I usually want to get right back out there.

But for an answer more towards the question, much more so after a long period of not. Ring able to play. Like now with this ugly winter, chomping at the bit to get back out there.

None of your answer choices. I play all year round but tend to slow it down in the wet winter months.

I crave to play more in the summer when it's warm and light out till 10pm. Having a microbrew and playing chipping putting games on the greens after a round in the warmer summer sun, day road trips to resort courses, playing 36 in a day, smells of summer . . . . . ahhhh can't wait for summer again.

If I have a good round the more I tend to want to play, if it's a bad round I'd rather hit the range.

I played Monday at a course about an hour from my house that a buddy wanted to play. I loved the course and can't wait to go back. I played pretty good and wanted to play 9 more but we had get on the road to make it back for obligations. I couldn't help but think if we had played our local course we would have time to play 9 more. So yes, I want to play right after I play! My game sure reflects it if I can play several days a week versus once every 2 weeks.

I live in Florida and play a few times a week, so I guess you can guess which I selected. I want to golf the most though on days I have to work. I guess you could say that is my "long time" as in 4 days......

I feel your pain of the Chicago winter, I've been trying to get my brother in laws down for a trip to Scottsdale. Needless to say but I'm envious your trip is already planned. Until then ill keep hitting balls out of the snow banks on my driveway (legit helped my non existent bunker game)

I'd have to go with both answers. It always made my dad laugh that I would go hit a bucket or two after a round. All he would want was a sandwich and a coffee. But with the weather we've have over the past couple weeks,I've been inside limited to thing like 9-3's and what not so I'm itching to get outside and get a round in

Whenever I play/practice, I always go for as long as I can if possible because I seriously dislike driving home and having the craving to get back out there. Because of this, I play to the point of near exhaustion so that playing golf for the rest of the day is out of the question!

I had to vote for after not playing for a long time. My other passion, deer hunting, gets me through October- December. Come January I really start to get the itch. I'm just hoping for a mild March, so maybe I can get out in another month and a half.
