This season I'm changing things up completely. I've decided to drop the mallets and go for a plumbers neck style putter. (Betti BB-54 currently on the BST)
I really really wanted to game a Piretti Cottonwood II but it's out of my price range right now. So instead I made a poor man's Cottonwood. I found an Odyssey Metal-X #2, 35" for well under $90. Added 17g of lead tape and there you go...poor man's Cottonwood!

If this little experiment doesn't pan out, I always have my trusty Bettinardi BB-27 to fall back on.

Love those Trad II's!
I have one myself, but my flow neck handmade usually gets more bag time.

I still have the Slazenger Kirk Currie PSP1 that came with my clubs when I bought them to learn on last spring. It's also probably my most neglected club which I'm going to be changing.
First, welcome to the forum!

Secondly, the best with your search for a new putter. Sometimes it can be daunting, standing in a big box, or even a smaller Pro Shop, with anywhere from 30-40 to over 100 different putters to choose from.

Believe me, it turns into a nightmare for me, lol.

Well, have a great season :)
I agree, there seems to be a million putters to choose from at the golf store. I would suggest you go see someone at a golf store with some knowledge and the ability to try out on their putting green. Do you have an arcing swing? If so, maybe look for a putter with some toe weight. Personally, for someone learning the game to probably get a blade style putter, IMO, they are easier to lag up to the cup from longer distances. Again, a qualified golf salesman should be able to steer you in the right direction. Also, 'lie angle' comes into play with putters.
Good luck, Tom

Thanks guys! I meant I was going to practice with it more. I feel like I do pretty well with it and will get better with some real practice. It helps that both of my girls are interested in playing, we're going to setup a putt putt course around the house, and I'll start taking the oldest (6) to the putting green for some fun. I drool over all of the pretty putters but until I get a lesson or two on putting with my coach and a fitting I will be staying with the status quo.

Thanks for the support guys!
-Sean
(I just started getting lessons and address and grip were on the docket first, I have a great swing path apparently.)

Thanks for the kind words. It really is pleasant to look at, but the performance is there as well. I just got back from Scottsdale where I played 4 rounds (first golf since October as well as first rounds with this guy) and it worked admirably. Soft but with great feel. It pretty much sealed the deal when I sunk a 55 footer on the last day.

Sick of the constant putter merry go round, I went all in on a Byron so I could get everything I was looking for. Deep milled, 370 grams, stainless steel topped off with the Japan Black only Superstroke. Here's to hoping spending more money up front will save me some in the long run. Now if only the snow would melt!
