Bought my first Scotty last year. 2014 Newport Select. It has no sight line and feels pretty awesome. I had to reason to buy a new scotty 3 weeks ago but I did.....

 

I bought a 2016 Newport 2 on the classifieds for a pretty good deal. Though, I'm not entirely sure how I feel about the insert. I probably need to sell the old one to supplement the cost of the new one. I like the head of the 2 over the select.

I putted with it in the store the other day and had been thinking about it all week. I went today and picked it up. I really like this putter... very nice feel. I had always liked the looked the look of the head, but didn't care for the Works insert. This insert feels very good. If only it wasn't 100 degrees outside....

I've been trying to test Wilson's 8802 but it's been hard to find anybody who had one in stock. I was going to ask the shop to order a new one with the proviso I would test before purchase. Informed the shop had an unrestored completely original 'The Wilson 8802' (7/10 condition) equipped with their tour shaft & grip of that time. Whoever has owned it over its 50 years has really taken care of it, and the few nicks/dents show they used it and didn't keep it in a trophy case.

 

The little jewel, manufactured just after Palmer left Wilson back in the mid-1960's, has simply wonderful feel, and really lends itself to 'gentle' strokes to die the ball at the hole. I was surprised by how easily I was able to aim it properly, all of my putters for the last 40 years have had alignment aids.

 

My pretties; Cameron(s), Odyssey(s), Pings(s), are all on the shelf.

Just got a new Odyssey Works #7 CH for 100.00 on eBay.

I scored this same one last week 3 rounds with it and it's a love affair, I for the first time I am very bold with my putting I don't mind running a put by 4 or 5 feet, just know I am going to make the come backer. I can honestly say I have not missed a put within 5 feet. I have always been a mallet player, but never felt really confident in 4=5 footers till now . Love the plumbers neck on it. Being a lefty hard to find a a plumbers neck mallet in lh . Normally they are singe bent or double bend. The putter sits nice and square with a smaller profile than any other # 7 I have seen in Lh.

Great confidences like never before , I can see the handicap going down for sure .

How do you like the paintfill in the x5? I just changed mine from the dark grey to white and it is amazingly better.

I like it as I know there are some other color combinations that look better. I plan on keeping the color I have now.

First round today. Never had a threat of three-putting, burned a few edges, and made a lovely 20' slider for birdie. Just wonderful for controlling distance.

Found the Odyssey US101 #7

 

 

Here's my mini review

 

I found the address is very classic #7 with the exception of the single joint slant neck.

Correct me if I'm wrong. It feels more half offset compare to double bend putter shaft.

 

As far as the metal face feel concern, the metal-X milled design does provide faster roll compare to my white hot pro #7 center shaft. Odyssey claimed the sound chamber behind the putter face to provide better feed back... I found it quite muted and doesn't really give the click or higher pitch sound even when struck right at the sweet spot in comparison to other major brands. Nevertheless the sound feedback doesn't really make much difference for me.

 

What I might be not too used to would be the grip. It comes with a tapered midsize cabretta leather in red maybe I'm just more used to Superstroke pistol GT 1.0

 

Will use this standard grip for the weekend and see how it performs...

The top line/face must be thick. That sound slot is darn near in the middle of the sole haha.
