I didn't realise that the Muirfields were so much smaller than the FG-59s; I've a 1~SW set of the Muirfields, but I'd heard that the FG-59s were really compact so I was expecting them to be smaller than the Macs.

I agree. I heard the 59's were the smallest blades out there. I'm waiting for my baby blades to arrive to compare. I was stunned at the Muirfield size - and honestly the 3/4i i am striping. Not so much with the 1i. I'm a good striker but these are in a different league! Do u ever hit that 1i or is it on the shelf??

I sometimes take either the 1i or 2i out when I play a persimmon-and-blades round, and usually try to hit either club at least once during the round.

 

The 1i I only hit off the tee, though I've tried the 2i off the fairway.

 

The last time I hit the 1i, I absolutely striped it. Since then, I think I've avoided taking it to the course as it's better to live on that memory!

 

I've actually got a few old blade 2-irons and another blade 1-iron (a RAM); I find muscle back long-irons to be temperamental beasts. Some I can hit, others I can't. Believe it or not, I find the Muirfield ones are among the easier ones to hit! The RAM 1i I really struggle with, but I've a RAM Tour Grind 2i that's relatively easy.

 

My favourite 2i is a Mizuno MS-203 (TP-19 in Europe); I've a Mizuno Original 2i with the same specs (same shaft, same shaft length, same loft) that I can barely hit. Looks great in the bag, though🤣

 

I only take my old muscle back long irons to the course when I'm playing for pure enjoyment. If I hit one right, it makes me grin like a little kid and the memory will stay with me for years.

 

If I don't hit it well, I don't let it bother me. I'm not good enough to get angry over a mis-struck 1-iron.

 

Don't know if I posted pictures before. The RAM 1i and 2i are fairly recent purchases, so perhaps I should post them here. As an experiment, I put a Modus 115S in the 1i. Perhaps that's the problem.

Built a BRNR mini 11.5* and TSR2 15* with Diamana ‘ilima 80X’s. The Mini is tipped .5” and the TSR2 is tipped 1”. The two tone ion shaft looks so freaking clean in these heads and the bag appeal is off the charts with the BRNR headcover.
 

I’m not sure how much time the BRNR will spend in the bag. I hit my TSi3 very well so I don’t really see why I’d carry it. It is super long though! I definitely like it as a driver replacement for a lot of players

I’ve long been a supporter of the 2 hybrid being a better option than a 3-wood/3 HL club but 50% off an Exotics C722 fairway wood was too intriguing to pass up. It wasn’t a need by any means, the C722 would be replacing the C721 hybrid spot in my bag which might just be my favorite club in the bag. Does this mean I am officially a club ho?😂

Syncagraphite Loop Fairway Six X Flex to give a run in the Stealth 3 Wood.

 

 

New set of irons - GTD Cross Forged (in fairness, haven't seen many / if any on WRX to date). 

First impressions - stunning - really wonderfully built iron, not too dissimilar in it's target demographic from say, the OnOff Kuro irons. Players cavity - S20C forged steel, so expecting these to be soft as butter and wildly consistent. Rather flat lie angles, which i like - though will adjust some of the lofts on the 10 and 9 iron (strength 2 and 1 degree respectively) to ensure smooth gapping and something i'm familiar with. 

Will be getting these fit with Fujikura Axiom 125 X's (pending whether i like them or not).

Was lucky to snag one of the Buyee auction site for just under AUS $150 (~US$100).

Can purchase them / check out the spec sheets for most of Syncagraphite's catalogue at Tour Spec Golf: https://www.tourspecgolf.com/brand/syncagraphite

 

Plenty of bargains to be had over there - especially considering the relative weakness of the yen currently.

Yea. I know a good bit about Syncagraphite. I'm just trying to figure out the best spot to buy from with me being Stateside. AND, which Syncagraphite Distributor will sell the Shafts withOUT Tip Adaptor Installation. My stuff is Bonded and Glued, I don't need nor want Adaptor Installation.

Also bought one at this bargain price, except mine is with the Ventus Blue. Hasn't been delivered yet (I live in Thailand), hope it's as good as their fairways from 10-15 years back. Played the CB1, CB2 and CB4 Tour back in the day.

Just finished this build...will hit tomorrow once the epoxy has dried. Going to see if they can kick my Miura MC-502's with LA Golf L Series shafts out of the bag. Srixon ZX Utility Mkii with Ventus Black HB 10-TX, Srixon ZX7 Mkii 4-PW with Dynamic Gold X7 and Vokey Wedges with Dynamic Gold X7's. All finished off with Golf Pride Multicompound's and BB&FCo White Lightning ferrules.
