Lol. It was just a matter of time before she won again. Like her or not, she's too good a player to stay out of the winner's circle for the remainder of her career. Perhaps Ms. Choi's win earlier in the year light a fire under her behind.

I haven't read the entire thread, but do we have a WITB for Kerr? I think I saw Ping driver and fairways, but I don't think she's a Ping staffer?
She hasn't been on Ping's staff for a few years although I don't remember her playing anything but Ping. The last I remember it was S55 irons but please don't count on that being currently accurate.
Last I remember she may have been playing Ping G25 driver and fairways, but for irons she was using the Callaway Diablo Forged. This week I thought I saw new Ping G30 woods and maybe i25 irons?

CK's mostly Ping now, but has played Diablo Forged irons off and on for a few years...but pretty much stuck with Ping woods. She plays without a club contract (unless she signed one recently) which allows her freedom to play whatever she wants.

A lady next to me yelled "Go Stacy, go!" Stacy looked over, but did not smile or acknowledge.

I'm surprised Stacy didn't SNaP at the lady.

She is intense when she's in the ropes. When she's in that mode, who knows what's going to happen!

Rickie Fowler is the same way. Once he's in the ropes he's in "game mode".

Ms. Rankin has often used the phrase, "It's not a swing one would teach today". In this case, I don't think it's a swing one could teach. 'Not unless one was also a part-time circus performer.

Let's go to the Konica Minolta Biz Hub Swing Vision...

Break the swing down for us Kostis.

Ignore what happens between pic 4 to pic 5 and between pic 5 to pic 6 and it's a fairly textbook swing.

HSvejFl.png

Great job with the swing slides. The swing looks great like you said despite slide 5. I can't imagine going past parallel is providing her with distance benefits. So I wonder if it's more of a timing thing for her?

Yokomine Sakura san came from a rural area, and her parents owned an izakaya ( a small bar/restaurant). She took up golf in elementary school, but started to really practice in Jr. high school. There were no golf pros around. Her father became her mentor and teacher, like many current and past Japanese pros. A home-made swing to try to overcome her small stature. Kind of Daly-esque. She used to hit driver after driver while sitting on a chair as her father teed up balls, so maybe it came from trying to generate swing speed all with the upper body and arms.

Her father worked very hard to support her in her goal by building a practice area, cutting the grass, building bunkers for her to practice, etc. He was her caddy as she worked her way through amateur events and into her pro years. Her mother ran the business pretty much on her own.

They had little money. He built out a small motor home and they traveled to tour events in it, sleeping and cooking in it. She came from some pretty humble beginnings. She and her family sacrificed a lot to get where she is today. It was interesting to see the camaraderie between her father and her. He pushed her to be better as her caddy, but they laughed about it later and seemed to have a good relationship. She was serious and unsmiling as she started out on tour, but has relaxed a little more now. He cooked her food, washed and ironed her clothes and did everything he so she could focus on practicing.

I saw an old 2005 Japanese TV show about their situation, They even followed her through her first tournament as a pro (Japan Ladies Open) in 2004 and caught all of the conversations between her and her caddy-father. Some of it was funny. Her father asking her if she was nervous, and saying things to her that only a father can say on the last hole... like scolding her for a bad fairway bunker shot. Not really scolding, but the Japanese way of laughing as he told her she was "hetakuso," which means something like saying "Wow, you're a hack!"

She came in 22nd place in that tournament and she and her father were having a funny battle as he wanted to take credit for her performance in the interviews.

Soon after that, her father realized that the best thing he could do was to let her decide if she wanted him to continue being her caddy, since they were together 24/7 and it might not be the best thing for her. She fired him, laughingly, and he was fine with it. He only wanted what was best for her. She was on the second-tier tour, hoping to get through JLPGA Q school, and won a tournament. Her father was happy for her, but a little sad being on the sidelines now. He watched and helped her practice, but bit his tongue because she said that she needed to do things herself in golf.

As she started the next season, he caddied for her again in the first tournament. He loved it and missed being in the action and helping her. She was fine with having him around to talk to during the round again. Their golf relationship had changed for the better after he let go.

She Tigered a chip on the 16th hole of the last round to fall one back as co-leader. Her father was silent and simply asked her to birdie the 17th, which she did. She chipped up to three feet ont he last hole, a par five. She was very nervous over that last 3-footer for the win, but her father helped her gather her nerves, forget the gallery, and focus on the putt. She made it to win her first tour JLPGA Tour event.

While she collected the check, her father popped open a cold beer and entertained the press.

Wie teeing of the 10th to start her day Sunday, hit a super high 5 hybrid. Looks like the stinger era is officially over.
Well, she's got that going for her. Which is nice.

Bah. There was nothing wrong with the "stinger". A little tweeking to the strategy, maybe. She was leading the tour in GIR's for the first half of last season.

This fan was probably throwing up her bibimbap last night

I know it's easier said than done to find a host club.....but they should relocate the KIA to LA.....I know all the LA Korean fanboys would appreciate a shorter drive to an event.

They would also attract a larger gallery.
