Xanax on tour?

I've never attempted to play golf on any drug other than alcohol and THC, but Xanax wouldn't be my first choice if I was looking for performance enhancement. As stated earlier I know Beta blockers have been a problem. I would assume Adderall and Ritalin would be performance enhancing and are probably allowed with proper documentation. Ironically, it is considered acceptable if a guy with scrip wakes up in the morning and takes two Adderall instead of one because he's having a big day and needs to concentrate, but if you or I took one it would be considered a violation. Big pharma has made sure that it pays to play.

I am starting to think that Beta Blockers could really help me elevate my game. My swing is decent but my nerves are a mess!

[/quote]Can't say I blame you, but I don't like to drink and play golf. Some of those cart girls are sweet though. I golfed with a guy who was 3 times as old as the cart girl on a particular outing, and he thought he could charm her with his bs. It was tacky and inappropriate, and he made a fool of himself, imo. I always treat the cart girls with great respect, which is probably a breath of fresh air to them, because of all the bs they must put up with when the playboys try to charm them.

I've had a look and Xanax seems to be allowed on tour from what I can work out in the manual for their anti doping program.

If you have anxiety disorder and only taking a prescribed dose you can take it.

If they find out you do not and are abusing it to be more relaxed then its a suspension.

.25-.5mg could def help a lot of golfers who suffer from anxiety. If you’ve never had issues with bad anxiety count your blessings.

It’s an allowed substance per the PGA tour rules guide.... no medical exemption needed.

I see that as a short term advantage with a number of long term consequences. Benzos can be highly addictive and are not recommend for long term use.

I personally don’t think that’s a road most would take for a performance advantages. I feel like the pros should be smarter but what the heck do I know...

I’ve never taken Xanax but I have been prescribed Propanalol in the past and I do genuinely think that it had an impact on my playing golf. I couldn’t quite put my finger on way at problem is created but it definitely created one...at least, that is my excuse for poor golf and I am sticking to it.

Withdrawals from two substances in particular have been shown to be potentially deadly: alcohol (due to a condition known as “delirium tremens”) and benzodiazepines.

a bunch of tour players in the 80s were on this and they described it as not being able to get "up" Nick Price was one. Also blood pressure meds had the same effect. Not sure if many stayed on it but from what i read, it wasn't always helpful.

I take a type of this therapeutic class of drug for panic and anxiety. If I was to get off I would need rehab or some wellness plan, which would include being out of work for months. I go 2 days and I feel awful.
