If you dont know Cantlay's backstory this article is from February but still pretty good. Gets a stress fracture in his back. Four weeks later watches his best friend/caddie get hit by a car and the guy dies while he is stitting with him.

Big fan. Much rooting.

Yep. That's why I was pulling for him.

Don't know if he was actually drunk or not, but drunk walking is pretty dangerous.

Catching up:

  1. I never really see spike marks on my line that I want/need to fix. That being said, I will repair them (after putting out) and hate when a) people drag their feet on the greens and b) are too oblivious to fix the marks they've made.
  2. Mrs Eagle probably came to pick him up to first, make sure the internet people didn't murder him and second, because he probably been drankin...
  3. I was rooting for Cantlay because i) of the story above and ii) because I was dreading the social media "Epic" campaign ejaculation to follow if Hadwin won. However, other than that, his sour faced demeanor doesn't make him very watchable.

So is the smaller 104cc GP SNSR grip close in size to a SS Flatso 1.0 or thinner? Asking for a friend, but will probably try to stop into GG to check on out myself.

How about these jackholes, cutting up the green at one of the Trump courses?

http://www.golf.com/...ental-activists

IIRC something similar happened at RTJ before the DCGT event last year, vandals poured gas on one of the greens and lit it on fire.

I'm probably misremembering part of this but I'm 60% sure that is 90% correct...

Thinner? Different? I've used both. You've just got to check it out for yourself to have any idea if you'll like it. I think you will, based on your PP58 fanboi status. I've got the 104cc Contour version. Great size, and shape. A little bit larger overall than the PP58, with less taper.

Collection implies that some remain unused, I consider it more of a rotation.

Latrobe and Memphis are on the list of possibilities, along with the DJ Spider, if I can find one with an alignment line.

I can't recall the last time I worried about a spike mark on the course. Certainly not since the days of metal spikes. When was the last time you work real spikes? Hell, half the guys here are probably too young to have worn them.

For certain people (like me, and likely you), wedges are so damn personal. 5 years with wedges is like a long term relationship. You know how she'll perform from any position, and that level of comfort and reliability cannot be understated. She'll always have a place in your heart, even after you move on. I've gone thru 3 or 4 52* wedges trying to replace that BStone J40. Sigh.

Anyway, I'd suggest matching the exact grinds of your 5yr wedges to ease the transition. We all have types that we prefer. Good luck bud.

my relationship with the pings has never been what it was it with my old vokeys. chipping out of bad lies in particular has never really been as good. that's why when i actually starting spending the time learning i looked at vokeys

golf question about a new rule change : how often do you guys actually see spike marks that you think you'd like to fix, but can't because of the rules?

my answer: never.

These guys just say stuff, and then they show the replay and if it disagrees with what they say, they just keep plowing right through their explanation. Football announcers do it all the time.

the way that tilts me hardest is when they say something like "XYZ is one of the best wedge players on tour" and you KNOW they're wrong and you look up the stats and the guy is like 148th in proximity or something like that

When you hear all the complaining this year about the pros skipping Arnie's tournament and how they should go out of respect. . .just remember, last year when his health was bad, every one said the same d@mn thing and not one person could tell you who the "bad guys" were who skipped last year, and who were the "good guys" who went.

Except Day. He obviously went. Rickie goes.

The media love to play that up. In Tour Confidential this week, one guy said players should "honor arnie" by talking to reporters more (although he said it in general, and actually said players didn't have to go to Bay Hill).

They have Kuch's caddy sitting in on TC this week.

one night we do a power hour. can't drive so we walk to a party. i ask my buddy why the curb was getting higher. You know the transition from curb to jersey walls? yeah. so then were walking on a jersey wall next to cars doing 60 mph on rt 193 in college park. the shoulder is super wide but still maybe not smart.

Flagstick Tending Talk Monday : Where do you stand/expect others to stand when you tend the stick?

I've always done my best to stand on the high side of the hole from the perspective of the incoming putt (without having my feet in somebody else's line, of course) at arms length from the hole.

I ask because I actually had a threadzien ask me to stand on the low side of the stick for a putt one time. I was happy to oblige, but just thought it was a unique request. Made me question my entire life of flagstick tending.

Never cared enough or played with someone that did. However, usually to the left side facing the play while grasping the flag with my right hand. You know to be able to thrust the flag out of the hole..

I was taught that most important was to stand so that that your shadow didn't cover the hole. Beyond that, above vs below is an interesting debate. Assume the argument for above would be that most players don't miss on the high side by a couple feet very often. Argument for low side would be that if you have to putt through footprints/spike marks, I would want an uphill putt I could hit harder.

I think this whole fake outrage by the media is kind of a joke. Matt Ginella said players should be ashamed for not attending the event this year. Just get over yourself already seriously. IMO, the schedule was absurd this year, Florida - Honda, WGC in Mexico, Florida - Innisbrook, AP Tourney, WGC Match Play - all in a row. Guys aren't (most likely) going to do that many events in a row especially leading into Augusta.

Combine that with the number of guys who apparently just flat out dont like that course, I have no problem with them not playing an event.

More importantly to me, a lot of the guys that aren't playing went to Arnies funeral / Memorial Service IIRC. *Thats* paying your respects. To think that they have to show up, take a week out of their schedule to play an event that clearly isn't that popular - now you're talking a PR issue.

I always figured that standing on the high side made it less likely I would

A) Have to move to avoid a missed putt hitting my feet.

B) Leave fresh foot prints in somebody's line for their next putt

Both assuming that more putts are going to finish below the hole than above it.

I was taught that most important was to stand so that that your shadow didn't cover the hole.

Interesting. I cant remember the exact situation, but I suspect that's exactly why I was asked to change my positioning. Probably was shadowing the cup.

I don't have the best golf etiquette in the world. I also think some golf etiquette stuff is just over the top silly. It doesn't have to be a football game out there, but the expectation that everything is just so when you're hitting is tiresome.

There are a finite number of spots in Arnie's tourney. 372 guys can't tee it up. The same guys that are being told they should be they would get squashed if they showed up and posted +8 taking a spot from a lower ranked guy trying to keep his card. Meh.

Stand above the hole and make sure your shadow isn't over the hole or in front on the line. At arm's length, with the flag bottom weight not resting fully at the bottom. Slight tilt, so no chance of an oops.

If you play men's league around some of the Yahoo's I have, you will see see foot drag marks all over. Just because the rule doesn't affect your round very often doesn't make it a bad rule...
