Sligo retired the "Martin" which was my favorite (only) design. Big fan of golf shirts made out of something other than cotton that also have a pocket.

 

I did buy a Straight Down shirt last weekend. Anyone else have those? They seem really nice.

I am kind of worried about the weather for Saturday too. The UV rating is going to be high and I don't want to get sunburn,

 

Its not many times that I wish for a country to have an armed rebellion, where they shut down the airport and take the tourists hostage, but I do think that the Dominican Republic is overdue for one...

It is now. Much like BangWord not allowed, the Hive has conferred upon you a new name. Mostly because we can now use Simpsons gifs, and the fact I cannot do much right now as all our suppliers at work are closed.

Saw the new routing a couple days ago, should be fantastic. They are really making a lot of good upgrades there. New bar/restaurant opened off of the 18th green at #2, redesigning the putting course, redoing #4 - should be really fabulous.

Woke up at 4:30 with the dog, could barely get the screen door open, so I knew it was going to be a tough shovel. Went back to sleep for a couple hours and then went out and shoveled off the deck and driveway. Got on a 9am call, showered and the drove in to work. Easy commute, until I got to DC, of course, where there are just random piles of snow in the middle of the street.

 

Not sure why I didn't use the snow blower. Thought the snow would be too heavy, but on my drive in, I saw a bunch of people using theirs. Rookie mistake (snowblower rookie, not a snow rookie).

Sounds like a trip back to the resort is in order for 2018. I really liked #4, so will be interested to see the result of the refresh. Putting in a short course is pretty sweet, and the holes they are blowing up to do it were nothing to write home about. Would be great to play a round then hit the putting and short courses with some friends and beers. Thistle Dhu was probably my favorite thing about the resort, so I'd love to see a fun short course next to it.

this is inspired by that Obee thread where he's talking about the pro giving the scratch golfer 3 aside.

 

You get to tee it up against Phil Mickelson at a nice place. He's going to give you strokes, but maybe 2 fewer than you're supposed to get, but he says, "I won't play you for less than $X per side."

 

How high is $X so that you don't go play against Phil?

 

E.g. I assume everyone would play him for 20 a side, and probably NOT play him for $10,000 per side.

 

Remember, he's giving you strokes, but cuts you a couple, so you have a chance of winning if you play out of your tree, or he has an off day.

$50 a side as I'd assume I'm going lose $100 to Phil, but it would be a cool story for $100. Above $100, I'd feel like Phil hustled me and the story becomes less cool.

What do we say Phil is? +6? That means he'd probably be giving me around 15. I wouldn't be that bummed if he gave me 13. So really, even if I got as many strokes as I was entitled to, it wouldn't change my opinion of whatever $X is.

 

I'd still pretty much treat it the same way.

 

I'd say my threshold would be probably around 5 strokes. But if Phil is cutting someone that many strokes then he's a ****head.

 

Phil better have square cash. I don't carry cash around like an old person.

Hmmm. Absolutely. Two big assumptions though:

 

- We're playing at a somewhat neutral site

- I'm not playing him at like 7500 yards. If he wants to nick me 2 strokes, I'm countering by playing at @ 6800 yards and he's playing 7200 or greater.

 

Cashwise, I dont know. How much is it worth to spend 4 or 5 hours playing golf with him?

 

Pretty cool that he - or his assistant - keeps his actual AZ hdcp up to date. No Grint for this guy.
