I don't think the exact release date is final yet but based on Ping's usual cadence (no pun intended) they should be in shops by early August.

didn't they jus come out last year with the G30 line? I'm prob wrong but I don't see them really bringing anything out. I'd like to play there stuff but I jus don't like most of there irons. only iron I'd buy if I was wanting pings would be the s56.

They are on an 18 month cycle now for all woods and irons, i25 and Karsten were their February 2014 release so it makes sense that the are being replaced this summer, G30 was their August 2014 launch so they are due to be replaced in February 2016.

G and i lines have been on different timelines for release for a while now (several years). Both lines usually have had an 18 - 24 month release date interval, and they cater to different markets; or just golfers looking for specific characteristics in ball flight/forgiveness.

G = GI/ semi-SGI
i = semi-GI/player cb
s = tour/player cb

Ping irons are (and historically have been) some of the best performing and durable irons out there. Surprisingly good feel for cast irons and just really good designs. Many tour players that aren't even on staff with PING choose their irons and other clubs from Ping's different lineups (KJ with G15s/i25s, DA Points with i5s, Streelman, Kuchar, Snedeker with Ping woods, most recently DLIII with S55 irons).

Give them a shot, they are excellent clubs.

Any info on iron design? Is head shape similar to i25? Is finish closer to Glide wedges or G30 irons?

Is it i-series with e referring to a version as mentioned earlier or just I-E?

Again, these will be called just "I Irons", E1 is the model year designator, they [u]will not[/u] be marketed as I-E or I-E1, just like how Titleist doesn't mention 714 when referring to the AP2s.
