I don't get the finish issues with the i25 on the plating? I've had two sets and I've had zero issues.. I bought a set last April and had no issues. Slammed a club in the bag and barely even made a mark. Played them all year and like a fool got rid of them this spring. Decided to get another set and have had them two weeks and they look brand new. I love the finish personally. Oh well. I would like to see what one looks like that has a plating issue just to know.

Can't wait to see the new ones!
It looked like you hit a rock on the outer toe of your club. The finish just chunked off on its own. I had the delamination on my i20s and of the three news sets sold at my club that I know of, 2 out of the 3 i25 iron sets had it too. You don't want to see it, just be glad it missed you.
I'm still playing the early version i20s and never have had any issues with these. IMO, I think some people just expect their cubs to stay pristine all the time. Not going to happen!
I don't think anyone expects pristine, but it's not unreasonable to expect them to actually stay together. I saw sets that were worse than others. There were a couple that had huge chunks that you could pick at with your finger nail.
these clubs are mass produced in china.....so it's not like their high quality works of art built by craftsmen, anything made for profit that is mass produced has a certain percentage of failures.....i.e. badges coming off, flaws in metal, etc etc
I said nothing about not expecting failures, it happens with every manufacturer. I was commentating on the previous statement that most people wanted their clubs "pristine" even after frequent play, when that wasn't the case at all.

I found out the number of heads that are doing this is under 5% so its not like you would expect everyone to see it with their clubs. Obviously that number is what they know about and what's been reported... it doesn't seem so bad but 5% is still WAY too high in my opinion. I do quite a bit of PING fitting and sales and I've seen one set of S55's do this and probably 5-6 sets of i25's and some of plating issues actually affect play... not just look. I mean if that happened to my personal clubs I would be annoyed and want it fixed when I had some downtime so I wasn't without my clubs for something a simple as a cosmetic issue BUT a couple sets definitely would have had an impact on playability.

The only positive is PING takes care of the situation if you're a trusted account and they know you've seen this before and can tell them what it is... if that's the case they will ship out a set to you without ever seeing your clubs so you won't have any lost time.

I have this high school girl that's a pretty good golfer (shoots in the 70's in tournaments) and she is now on her 3rd set of i25 irons because they have basically fallen apart on her. I actually feel bad because she thinks she's doing something wrong and that's not it-- just the clubs failing. Hopefully this set holds up and she just got them 3 days ago.
Interesting stuff!! That girl has bad luck I guess but she had good luck in choosing pings. They'll replace for right away.

I change too much to list it. Working on that...

Rumor seems to be an introduction in early July (some speculated that Greenbrier may be the venue, which fits the time frame).

Probably take a couple of weeks after for it to get in the channel. Ping often sets a date in advance for which the club cannot be distributed. We won't know if that is the case on this one or not, for a while, probably.

If you can wait 8 weeks, I would guess (and only a guess) you would be close to being the first to receive.

A buddy of mine is on his 3rd PW in his S55 set, but strangely none of his other clubs show any delamination. Ping sends him a new club to his exact specs before he has to send his back, so he has never been without a PW. THAT is customer service!

My 6-iron has a tad bit of the wrinkling that you see before it starts flaking off. I'll get it fixed this winter, but to me it does not get in the way of performance right now. Bottom line is, I know Ping will take care of me, so I'm not worried about it. Also, the only place I have seen it is right on the bottom edge of the toe on the face.

Back to the real thread here...cannot wait to see what Ping has in store for us with the i-E's! Sounds tasty!!!

I haven't gotten to see these topics fast enough but they look awesome and the finish is much better by all accounts.
Do you know if they are coming out with any new stuff other than irons JW?
I'm sure JW knows more but I haven't heard of anything else.
Yes-- there is a new G iron replacement that looks pretty slick. I've heard it is LONG... and I mean crazy LONG and forgiving... which is their goal with that target audience. The guy that I heard that from is a realist and an engineer so he won't make claims like that unless it truly does what he says it does... and he was just raving to me about how long this club was for the loft. LONG, HIGH, SOFT and FORGIVING... what every golfer wants... right? I won't leak the name of it unless someone else does it first but I'm pretty sure its a G series iron replacement... and its NOT called the G35. I liked the look of it so much I am going to order myself a #2/3/4 utility/driving iron to just whoop on from the tee... Lol.

New wedge... Glide wedge with the Eye2 sole... definitely gonna be grabbing a 60 in that one just to tinker with...

Everything I saw looked very good... PING still on their game at least. A couple major OEM's have released stuff that I thought was just average and not even worth releasing against their older line of stuff. This whole mid-summer release I think will do very well for them. Excited to get my iE1 fitting components especially coming with several nice stock shafts and no more complaining about CFS being the stock shaft even though its a great shaft in my opinion. I ordered a couple sets just for the wall with different stock shafts.

Anyway I think people will be excited when they see this stuff.
Thanks JW I'll have to ask my ping rep why he's slacking on the info lol. Glide with the eye2 sole sounds intriguing.

I was in a pretty large independent store in the area last week and they had the Karstens marked down by over $100...curious if the GMAX is a replacement. Curiously, a public patent was just approved for publication for GMAX on 6/11/2015: http://www.trademarkia.com/ping-gmax-86606104.html

I will go on record now as saying that if these are modeled after the Glide wedges, and blend seamlessly with them, then I will sell all of my other equipment if necessary to pick a set up. Green dot, Tour Issue s400s, White and Black NDMC midsize grips logo up. Take my money now, Ping.

I know it sells, but I never get the never ending obsession with length with irons. If it hit my G25 irons 20 yards longer...it would just cause all sorts of issues at the bottom of the bag. I'd rather them focus on better loft spacing - the gaps at the short irons are too high and the low irons are too low...than more distance.

But the new wedges sound really intriguing. The i-wedges were some of my favorites...putting that sole with the Glide sounds like a real nice combo.

For the golfer that the G irons are aimed at, hitting a shorter iron and getting the distance is super important to them. I am reminded of this all the time when I play on the weekends and get paired up - for example, I played with a few older gentlemen this past Sunday. On one of the par-3s it was 145 yards. I hit PW to 6 feet....they hit 6-iron. I was just thinking how much harder it must be for them to hit a 6-iron. If they could hit 7 or 8 it would make the game so much easier for them.

So yes, I understand your logic - I'd take a few extra yards with the irons but I don't need them to be the longest clubs ever or distance obsessed but many would benefit from that.

Yes, if you could give them another 10 mph in swing speed they could hit a shorter iron, the game really is easier for players with fast swings. With the swing speed they have though they're still going to need a 30* lofted iron, regardless of what it says on the bottom.

But even if that club is stamped "7" or "8", the loft and length will still have to be right for them to hit the green - in other words, the same clubs as that 6 iron, but with a different number on it.

So, the only thing that changes is how good they feel about themselves for hitting a shorter iron to that green.

The "obsession" with iron distance and the "obsession" with being annoyed by stronger lofts are equally annoying. Pick the 14 clubs you need based on loft, length and design, and worry less about what number is stamped on it.
The number are just there so you can tell one club from the other - because people kept forgetting whether their 150 club was a mashie-niblick, a sandy-spoon, or a frigger-spork.
