Vokey SM6's

I've been checking on this thread every now and then, but have not in quite awhile. I'm sorry if this has been asked already....

 

1) If you've been playing the SM's over the last couple generations (SM5, SM4 etc.). Did you happen to see a difference in flight in the new SM6 over previous SM series wedges?

 

2) Did you happen to see any benefit with their new groove patterns in the SM6 wedges? Where the different depth and width changes with loft made shots more predictable, or easier?. I always figured wedges with max grooves (either nonconforming, and even now conforming grooves with their max dimensions) and spin would be ideal in every wedge produced, and in every wedge loft. And then just take more club when needed and swing easier to help reduce spin if needed, or by flighting the ball.

 

3) And at last if anyone has played past generation Vokey's is there much difference in size or offset when compared to the SM6? There's not a shop in town that sells Vokey's off the rack so I've got nothing to compare them too. I've got 2 buddies who do play the SM5's, but they seem rather large in head size (I've been playing Scratch 1018's, and now Scratch DW TD wedges which seem noticeably smaller in size when compared to the SM5's). Again, obviously Vokey's are not oversized but slightly larger than I used too. Just curious if the SM6 have the same offset and size as SM5?

My opinion on them when I tried them was that the flight seemed a hair lower or flatter. It wasn't a huge difference at all. I barely noticed it. At 46-60* the loft is going to do way more to the golf ball than shape will. I think the SM5 looked a tad too large but I was ok with it. The new SM6 look to be a tad closer to SM4 size and really had a good shape to them.

 

I never played the SM5's, but I've seen the SM6 wedges and they are similar in size to my SM4's.

Honestly If you have money for new wedges then go ahead and wait. But in my experience the SM5 and SM6 is so similar. If I were you, I would wait and buy SM5 with a lower price. But thats just me.

I would say yes. I can't imagine a sitiuation that would call for more bounce on a LW vs a SW

Sorry for the late reply. I ordered through Chris at best golf deals on Jan. 15th and have been dealing with him for a couple years with excellent service. My order was for Jet Black 52.08 F and 58 K with tour issue s400 and no stamping. I hope this helps.

They're extremely compact. Way smaller then the same set up I had with SM5. I had those in raw black and the Jet black is darker and richer for sure.

-Head shape is great

-TVD is no longer, but Wedgeworks releases are still going to happen

-There will be a raw option at some point

-There will be a V-Grind available at some point

-There is a noticeable difference in trajectory

-The placement of CG is a big deal on these wedges, they feel REALLY good!

When did you put your order in? I'm a little confused why mine (according to who I ordered them through) aren't going to show up until the end of March/early April. I hope they are wrong as I sold my old wedges already. Ha.

DD's quoted me 3-4 weeks because of a custom shaft - I'm fine with that as I still have my SM4's to use until then.
