Who here is a shooter? Are you a 1911 person, or a Glock guy?

If you appreciate the "sweet spot" of a great 1911 trigger, you probably love to play blade-like irons. If you're a Glock guy, you are probably a game improvement iron player. Perhaps a different topic for another forum; but someone here probably knows what I mean.

Imagine the arrogance of assuming that a lower COG that's 1.25 inches behind the shaft axis, and huge offset, and oversized head with perimeter weighting and a big dug out space behind a super thin face, add up to better results for a good golfer. . . . . . . ???????????

That's the golf world today. If you appreciate solid wood over veneer, you probably like traditional club heads.

OTOH if you get great results from your G30s, that's great.
1911=forged
Glock=cast

I like em both.

Interesting.. I own one Glock and 5 1911's. Interesting comparison with clubs and pistols... love my 1911's...

Saw the 6 iron in the test bay at a Golfsmith today. Couldn't hit it, I was in dress clothes.

Beautiful iron, really needs to be seen in person to fully appreciate.

Has anyone gotten theirs and gotten out on the course yet?

MP-5s I mean, not firearms. Sorry about that silly post. No more PWI for me.
Yes, I've been playing them for the past few weeks.

I just came off an injury and I'm hitting the ball much better than I should be. Probably just a honeymoon phase, but these really are a sweet set of sticks. Great sole grind, best shape Mizuno has put out in years, plus a bit of extra forgiveness. What's not to like?

Is he hitting one of those 4 iron shots out of his divot? My sound doesn't work so only going by visual. If yes, that's going to sell a few sets of these to those on the fence.

What iron did you start going MP5? I can't decide between the 25 or 5 or combo. Not sure if my gaps would be off with the hotter face of the mp25 3-5 iron than 6-PW on the mp5.

This is why I am starting to think the H5 may combo better than the MP25, still satin but no Boron, think the gapping will be better in a mixed set with MP5's. At least I am hoping, cause that is what I will have in the bag.

Yeah for sure, I like both heads but I'm leaning just going MP25 all the way 3-PW. I like the fact of the little forgiveness than the MP5. I think the miss hits will be better on the 25s.

Split is:
MP25 4-7 iron
MP5 8-PW

The MP25 7 iron is a solid head as opposed to having the undercut so I thought the progression to the MP5 8 iron would be closer.

My MP5's showed up today :) I only had about an hour of daylight left so I went to the practice tee as fast as I could. I only hit the wedge, 7, and 3 iron. So far so good, but really anxious to get them on the course. Coming off of MP4's these are a little different looking with a slightly larger profile. We'll see how they do in the next few days. I have a couples tournament this weekend then a two man best ball on two tough courses next weekend. Might as well dive right in with them. I was initially told they might not ship until today.. so I was really jacked when I heard they were here.

Mine arrive later this week but I went the 3-6 iron in the mp25 and 7-PW in the MP5. When I was fitted I was able to hit the full sets of both clubs and was worried about distance gaps due to the hot face of the 25 but I really didn't see anything. I also had no issues looking down at the different finishes either of the clubs. Just waiting on the postman now.

Anyone gonna combo with the mp15? Or thinking the forgiveness/transition to the mp25 is more ideal?
that's a great set to mix with em....actually was debating on mp15 or mp54 in long irons....I am not sold on boron....

I could Def see mp5/mp15....ydgs will be very consistent too...great call!

I have hit the mp25's and mp5's side by side full sets at a range for about an hour last night and walked away with a combo set. I was really impressed with the mp25 for the longer irons just for a bit of forgiveness and height. The mp5's in the lower are just awesome. I didn't notice anything huge in distance difference just 'felt' as though the 25's were easier to hit in the longer irons. Now just waiting for them to be made and delivered.

Am happy to answer any questions anyone has.
Which shafts did you try?
I did their swing analysis machine which gave three options for me to try. KBS tour X- DGx100 and project x 6.5. I just liked the dynamic gold so went with that. The fitting cart had all the shaft upgrade options.
Sounds like got the full treatment with yours. I'm new to the game and got a set of g30s about a month ago. I hit the 7 iron of the g30 and 7 iron from the rsi. After that the guy put a sticker on the bottom of the g30 7 iron, swung it about 3 more times and he said I was a green dot then went to check me out. I feel like the green dot isn't me. When I address the ball the toe is off the ground...lesson learned
As mentioned above shaft always kicks toe down. How much? it depends on your swing and the shaft bend profile itself that's why you always fit lie after choosing shaft model and flex

Hit the 5s today. Not exactly a range session. Just 5-10 or so balls so I'll be hitting them more to make sure my first impression was right.

Quick thoughts. Wonderful heads. They look great. They feel great and are fairly forgiving for what they are. That said, there is absolutely nothing other than looks (over the 64s- not the 4s) to make me think that they would be an upgrade over any iron in my bag. I've got a combo set of 4-7 64s and 8-pw 4s. They're not going anywhere.

This is one thing I love about Mizzy irons - You don't expect a new release to blow a previous one out of the water - The MP5s are absolutely awesome...but if someone is 100% dialed into a set of MP "fill in the blank", you're not going to notice substantial improvements...that said, the MP5s are maybe the best looking iron Mizzy has ever put out.

100% agree. If you're already locked in to your current MP setup, nothing new is really going to change that. The reason is pretty simple....past MP iterations are outstanding in their own right.

That said, I also agree that after seeing the MP-5 in person it's probably the best eye candy to come out of the foundry.

I listened to Mark Crossfield's conversation with the Mizuno designer yesterday (I believe his name is Vosh) and found it interesting that his take on the MP5 is that it's an "MP32 on steroids." Good explanation that 3d CAD technology and sound engineering wasn't available back when the 32's were developed. So it's plausible that 5's might in fact be better. I play the 32's and have loved them - so it's hard for me to imagine something better.

Think I'll take my 32 6 iron to Golfsmith next week and see if I can tell the difference....if so, I'm in.....unfortunately.
