I watch golf tournaments every week but this is the first tournament I have watched with my father. He has never cared for golf at all, but thinks this is exciting even if he has trouble keeping track of simple things you take for granted if you watch or play golf. Also, he's saying that I'm an idiot for putting $700 on Stenson when you can see that the "ugly englishman" (his words on Rose, who he has never seen before in his life) will win this :). He said this long before Rose was in the mix... And now he's in the lead...

 

Btw, fun interview with Rose on swedish tv. He saw Stenson in the gym this morning and they agreed that they would make things exciting and play the final pairing on Sunday. He laughed a bit about it as he had been pretty far back when the day started, but was happy that he had kept his end of the deal.

I haven't read the entire thread, so pardon me if this has been said already. I'm really enjoying the lack of commercial logos on the golfers clothing, hats, bags, etc. Usually they look like stock cars. They look so much more dignified. I wish The Masters would adopt this ban.

I didnt think the Olympics would be fun but it has been alot more fun than i thought it would be. Big names at the top, great course, windy at times, some really hard holes on backnine etc. Make top 30 qualified instead of top 15 next time. Same rules after that. Would strengthen the field alot! I think winning the Olympics will turn into a very big thing! Not as big as the majors but it does grow the game. In my country tons of people who doesnt watch the pga tour or majors have followed golf at the Olympics! It also seems like the golfers(specially the americans) really like the experience because they get to live close to other athletes and watch them aswell, and USA has tons of fun athletes(like Phelps etc). I wasnt a huge fan of it but watching Adilson Silva start it off in his home country as a 44 year old and how big it is for him really says alot. Bubba and Reed needs to take it easy on the fans though.... They probably arent that used to watching golf and they call them horrible stuff and get real angry at them for taking a photo when the are about to hit a shot. Just go back and say put away your cameras plz, just like Rickie, Kuchar, Stenson, Rose etc do and start over instead of going crazy and acting like spoiled idiots.

Nice to see Justin Rose and Stenson up at the top of the field! From the European side of things, they were two of the guys who seemed to be really amped up about playing in the Olympics so it's good to see them where they are.

 

From a Team GB point of view, I am hoping that Rose gets the win tomorrow to bump up our gold medal total.

 

It will be tough though. Anyone have an idea if Stenson has any form for going low in final rounds when it matters...?

I think the course looks cool and the turf looks great.

Field is ok and I actually think it is interesting to see some random players( seems very in the Olympic spirit)

It's only "trendy" if you make it so. Crowd participation is high. The first 2 day's of the competition are work days for South Americans. Look for larger crowds tomorrow.

I think that it has been cool to see all the other athletes embrace the golfers and vice versa. Also the course seems to be in great shape and the golfers seem to be enjoying it. Good scores and interesting story lines. As a fan of golf I like having a tournament to watch that involves national pride from countries All over the world is a stroke play format. What's not to like? Plus after the Olympic coverage there is still a PGA tournament to watch.
