Pigs, interesting specs. Those clubs are 2* strong up to the 6iron, then only 1* strong in the long irons. Distance gain brah!! :D Can't wait til you get to hit'em!

Wow, I didn't realize the lofts were so jacked back in 2002. My S58s are
from 2006 and the PW is 47 degrees.

Titleist jacking lofts.......................lol.......had to say it, sorry Pigs..... :D
These clubs were built to Phils specs so it was Phil, not Titleist who jacked them ;)

I'm actually considering delofting them to the specs of my 712 CB's to make them swap in out without having to re adjust each time.
OK, so you're playing FIGJAM'S old irons? COOL.

Weakening them, as you know, will take out some of that unwanted offset.

of irons. :)

I DO HAVE BLADES NOW!!! lol Don't listen to what Den says, they're Blades hahaha

BUT, they blades are actually bigger then my CB's lol, But its in the heel and i miss to the heel side mainly so it may be an advantage to have more mass there. Time will tell and I'll get comparison pics up soon. :)

Well, when we do have a "Confessions" outing it's becoming
increasingly clear there's gonna have to be a "Confessions
Senior Division", lol, for us old short knockers. :D
Rad, remember when you a guy cranked it out there 275 he was considered a bomber?
LOL MC,in my book he still is! I'm playing with guys that knock it out
there 230-260 max most of the time, with an occasional bomb.

I've played with some bombers at home and it's just ridiculous how they
can take apart a course. One guy at home playing back had 256 into the
par 5 5th at the senator for his 2nd shot......and hit a 4 iron on the green.

An EFFINGHAM 4 iron!! It's just a different game. All I can do is watch
and wonder, lol. I can just see us on the range watching Buzz and Nine
hit shots and making side bets, LMAO. :cheesy:
It's amazing to watch in person the people who can hit it like that.

Butch is in the booth right now on the PGA broadcast. If I had the bucks, I go see him in a heartbeat. He seems like a genuinely good guy.

In the last week I've heard Jack, Arnie, Lee, Gary and now Butch say find a way to make your swing work.

He went through the things he was working on with Rickie, Brandt, and Jimmie Walker as they showed video of their swings from a few years ago until now. There just little tweaks that make a huge difference. Of course, he said Brandt came to see him and hit balls all day. Lol. We can't even fathom how much these guys hit balls and practice.

After my meds maybe I'll tell when Pete and I talked about Sam and Ben Hogan-

That always makes me smile and hell, there's actually a few things that ya might not have heard about. Nothing earth shattering but hell, I laughed my a** off when Pete told me, lol.

Oh, and the other Pro who was a big part of my Life, Gary Ellis, who followed Pete(1972) and stayed to see me get my first Club then he boogied south to Gary Player's course in some resort in Fla. Along with being a top Hogan Staffer(Also PGA of America Pro of the Year in '87, my first Club, hahah, what a frickin year, lmao), he worshipped Hogan, and Sam knew it and used to mess with him but the funniest, and I do mean funny, forget spitting liquid outa my mouth or nose, i laughed so hard I literally, not figuratively, literally cried, lmao.

So who does Gary get pissed at?

Sam?!?

Yea, right....

Pete?!?

See above ;)

The other 4-5 guys standin there, everyone of em Laughin as hard as I did?!?

Nope. Nada....

He gets pisssd at Moi!!!!

Didn't talk to me for almost a month-

I love him to pieces but what a frickin diva

That's the only thing with some of these old timer Pros-

They were looksd at differently that these young guys today-

Guys like Gary, STU's Dad and Pete "owned" the club or course-

And they knew it-

Strong personalities, "A" Games and they believed that they walked on water-

Hell, I believes that Pete and Gary did, lol

But a friggin month?!?

Ok, I'm not depressed anymore :)

Jesus, maybe I'm manic ;)

Golfingly Yours,
Richard

It's their job. They take it seriously. It's a much different mindset than the
likes of us has, lol.

These long hitters here at home? They can play and shoot pretty good scores
here but that's about it. They can't play at the level of Nine. Their flaws get
exposed when the heat is on.

One guy here, though he had moved up to Birmingham, got onto Big Break.
I think it was the Palm Beach one but not sure. He is a player. His name
is Zach. He was the first guy off the show, lol. The pressure is intense. I
don't know him cause I ain't around much but the guys I play with knew
him cause he was working here at the Capitol Hill RTJ for awhile.

Swinging your swing I agree with cause it has to hold up under the
pressure. If you tweak too much you can get really lost when the pressure
is on. These guys on tour. They can't change too much too quickly. You
see them do it like that and they're wasting 2 good years of competition.

Check out Derek Ernst. Won the Wells Fargo out of nowhere in 2013.
Then embarked on a major swing change and when he played at the
Tournament of Champions in Maui he couldn't break 80 some days
and barely broke it I think one or 2 days. He hasn't been a factor and
then lost his exemption and had to go play the Web.com finals.

He'll get few starts this year. He should have left well enough alone
IMO. He won!! WTH is wrong with your swing when you win??!! I feel
sorry for him. He's a good kid. I hope he finds his game again.
Couldn't agree more with ya on Derek!

Met him over at Oakmont and just a really nice guy.

I was really happy when he broke through Ams then when I saw he went for the swing change I was like, "Noooooooo," lol.

I'm tellin ya, and a Tour Winner told me this and that is when he won, and he "only" did it with his putter and stroke, which is potentially just as lethal, but he said after he won, he figured that one, that was the first of many, sorta like when Danny Mo played in a SB his second year and figured there'd be 6-8 more(his words), but this guy, my Tour Bud, won in his second year, 1994, and beat Hal Sutton in a play-off to get it, and he hasn't won again, and secondly, he said that he felt he could do anything and his confidence was higher than it had been in his life-

Confidence is a double edged sword and the leap to foolhardy overconfidence and some could say delusion is not a long or even noticeable one-

Nice post Bro!

I sometimes think it boils down to wanting what we don't have. You get out there and see people hit shots that you can't so you try to change things instead of using what you have. When you change "your swing" you can't "swing your swing". At that level of play it's pretty big risk.

Nine said the first thing he noticed was how high his competition was hitting it. He HAD to make a change to compete at their level.

Players that win at the PGA Tour level? Tweaking is one thing. Changing is risky.

I cut my damn left ear with my frickin razor cuz I'm usin my right hand on my left ear and I'm blind in my left eye so I'm trying to turn my head so I can see it in the mirror.but to see the hairs I gotta turn my head to the right but then I loose sight cuz my right eye can't see that far left-

WTF?!?!?!

Next thing little Ava is gonna have to feed Daddy-

You think I was bad in the Mid-Am thread(I did bring up a few good points though, whether ya agreed with me or not, lmao), wait till Madison has to trim my friggin nose hairs-

Ya know, this post has got me to thinkin ;)

Ok, from Maddie's POV, it's easy to Love me now-

I'm bright, good lookin, outgoing with a pleasent enough personality, I dress up nice even though ya might be a tad limited on where ya take me, good lookin and I mingle well-

Ok, that being said, what happens when I'm old, broken down, miserable and my good eye is goin bad if not gone?

What, I'm gonna show her that pic of me when I was 5yo or even the pics in this thread and say, "see sweetie, back in the day, I was sweet," lmao

Oh Dear Lord am I gonna test that part of our vow that says "and worse"

S***, now I'm depressed ;)

And she's got some Friday Evening Senior Group lesson "under the lights." Wine and chess after(my idea, thank you very friggin much)

She did invite me but what, I'm gonna go watch a bunch of chops who can probably hit the ball better now than I will when I make it back?

Oh Christ, now I'm really depressed.....

Meds, T-minus 18 minutes :)
RP you know enough about me to know I will gamble on golf at the drop of a hat. I would lay 2 to 1 you can right now hit the ball better than those hacks right now one eye and all!! I could see us now at the wine and cheese party me about half snookered on wine "Hey RP a dollar says the guy in the Loudmouth pants shanks it" Fun fun fun. Don't get down on yourself so much I think you will still have it that is why I still demand 3 a side when we play :taunt:

Beautiful song.......

http://youtu.be/Kg-Qdrr3XSk

There were 5-6 songs from this period that "moved" a generation, and these Guys had three of em-

Ohio, which spoke to the debacle that was Kent State(one of those National guardsman is a member at the club. Remind me sometime to tell ya the story of the day that he popped off about this debacle), Graham Nash's Chicago which memorialized the epic cluster f*** that was the 1968 Chicago Democratic Convention and this song, which predated the other two though spoke to the distrust of authority that was the foundation of this period.

I too had a problem with authority as I was 8yo and coming off a one year hiatus(my BaBa yanked my clubs) from the links due to an inability to conduct myself as a Gentleman in defeat. That of course was her interpretation of my post tourney conduct(I did not remove my hat prior to shaking my FC's hand) and hense started my life long aversion to authority and those who's job it was to exercise it ;)-

Anyhoo, this song was Stephen's, though written during his pre-CS&N days with Buffalo Springfield, and I much prefer his versions with the Boys cuz the BS version seemed a little "plastic," pre-fab if ya will, lacking the emotion that he developed with age. This happens to be my favorite version as it's one of the last times that he performed this song with the Boys, as it would become one of the songs that he performed solo when all three Gents would take turns mid concert and perform 3-4 of their solo hits-

Excuse the ramble however for the younger guys, hey, I've never looked at enhanced knowledge as a bad thing, even if it is worthless knowledge, lol ;)

Stay Well Bros :)

Have a great weekend Bros,
Richard

In the end, only three things matter~

How much that you loved...

How mightily that you lived...

How gracefully that you accepted both victory & defeat...

GHIN: Beefeater 24

The only differences to me are that the blade has more offset (<-ewwww) and the CB is slightly wider by just a smidge. To be honest I like the look of the CB so I understand why you have no issue with them. They look better with the less offset. (But do they feel better when you pure one?)

Only time will tell, my CB's do feel very nice when you nut one though. These PM's are cast so it will be interesting to see the differences in feel. Likely will be spring by the time I get to hit balls outdoors though now. But feel is something that doesn't change as the simulator :)

I'm kind of surprised at the offset on the PMs. I like the looks of both. I'll be interested to hear opinion on the sound.

RP, Nice song. You seem like the type that's always jumped in the water and let it carry you. Ride the wave. I know I've been guilty of just watching the water go by instead of getting my feet wet.
Ahem. Let the record stand that I don't believe I've ever posted the words "frustration dampener" in reference to the Ping "engineering" of their MAWBB that they call a blade. (Judge, please issue Conrad here a writ of hilarious cornus.) It's a MAWBB because

1) The upper top half cavity is pretty meaningless to the ball flight physics. The part of the club that matters is the part that will be in contact with the ball the most which is at the lower hemisphere of the ball and maybe a little in the upper hemisphere as the loft gets stronger. But for the most part the contact is that the bottom. At impact, the ball compresses into only a very little bit of the upper area of the club, so therefore only very little of the upper half of the iron face plays into the ball spin and launch. But it does play into the vibration of the clubhead and so it will help to dampen the feel of all shots simply because the upper CB has a thin wall and so that part of the head will vibrate the most and so less vibration will go up the shaft from this. The feel is contained down in the head. The other thing that upper perimeter weighting does is make the clubhead look forgiving to some golfers.

2) The lower half is structurally very strong. It is MUCH like a blade's thick muscle. Maybe even thicker. The dampener is a different material from the face but it clearly is reinforcing that face so that it doesn't flex like a more SGI CB. This is the part that will compress the lower half of the ball and so in order for it to perform, as advertised, just like a blade, the face needs to have the same physical characteristics (like coefficient of restitution, Young's/bulk/shear moduli, and hardness) as a blade in order to spin the ball just as consistently. (Side note: That multi-material dampens the feel compared to that of a solid block of steel, making it a near perfect design for the aging trucker with a bum left elbow that has that occasional painful mishit.)

Just to 'urge' you a little further down ho's alley, later on you may want to compare the PMs to some forged blades of similar head design and see if that makes a difference in feel...

Edit: And looking back the offsets are really close to each other and not that bad for either set.
