Man. You too ? I really just don't get how guys like Phil on tour play these ? Even if they checked lofts every round and had a backup available this would eat at my mind.

Edit- I've played and bent my own 130x tour set. So I know what I'm talking about

yea Mad I remember seeing that when it happened... and it makes me ask even more ..why?? is it $? if not then what? wonder if for phil they are easier on his arthritic hands? I know he came from PX satin .. which I find to be quite smooth. compared to regular PX(..i know I know they are the "same")...

I've never thought them to be the same, apart from ballflight. They feel noticeably better to me, and I am a frequent flyer with PX.

I don't think Phil get's paid to play KBS.....none of the players that play KBS do.....I could be wrong....I think Phil is playing the TOUR V model not C-Taper..... and a question for mad.....were you that guy in high school that would start a fight and walk away and let your friends do your fighting? you are a tremendous pot stirrer.....guys like you make me laugh on the internet.....and I'm just as guilty now by stirring with you....oh well...and blade didnt KBS do right and replace your set? They seem to try and make things right.....I like both manufacturers......both make great products......

yep....and I shafted the vegas back up with them..BUT haven't played them for fear it would happen again...(it will) I play PX mostly and go at the ball pretty hard... lots of lag... I just don't knowhow often I can afford to call KBS.... get new ones on the way..Buy new grips ( lost 2 week old lamkin UTX midsize this time) and blue print the set over again... It takes me 2-3 hours to build a set from scratch if I take my time and dry fit everything , SW, find the spine of the shaft etc etc ... I don't do it for a living so im slow I guess.. don't mind it ..but its a process that takes time ..I usually polish or clean the heads on the bench buffer too while they are off etc.. replacing the shafts is only half the expense to be honest .. I appreciate the predicament KBS is in.... BUT the true answer is a thicker walled tip..which im sure kills their counter balance theme.. But it happens to be a by product I would love ... I have to add some weight to make KBS feel heavy enough for me too..Im not down on them.. I like the designer... he designed the best shaft ever (PX satin ) which I still own 2 sets of.. But his company needs to regroup with the tips of these shafts and fix it ..not just replace them ...

amen.. I don't give a crap what anyone says..PX satin is a different shaft .... I have 2 iron sets right now with px and px satin ... both MBs of similar size etc.. the satin 6.5 are just better.. all around better.... They do not feel harsh like the chrome true temper versions ..

My driver club head speed is 118 and have always spun the ball too much. I played these shaft four years ago in Titleist cb heads. Anyone that is doubting if they could play these should not purchase in my opinion. Talk about stiff and low ball flight. I actually lost distance, almost a club.

Havent gotten them out on the course; but been practicing on trackman & range, smooth and consistent is all I can say.

That, and I feel like these shafts have that six gear.

Still my alternate in case the 2S14 Nippon Protos don't work out. I'll always keep a set of these on hand, just in case.

For those that have X-100 spin or go left when they really try to step into one, consider these. It's nice to know they aren't going to get loose when you have to muscle one. And I prefer to take one less and hit the he!! out of it compared to clubbing up and trying to baby it.

And there is no contest in feel compared to C-taper and PX, which feel like complete @ss.

X7? Worth the investment?

Lot of Crap on wrx, "best ive ever hit", "Id sell my (insert wife, kids, mother) for xxxx club" "G.O.A.T " , two weeks later former equipment is on the BST.

If the X7 shaft profile fit your swing, the are very unique in performance and feel; this for me coming from C Taper X. I was like 35-40 yd apex on a lot of irons, now more like 30-33 apex comparison on trackman. Spin is like the C Taper, but improved feel, hard to explain, most comparable to an x100, though the x7's beefier without feeling harsh, though if you take off a swing, at least for me, say hello to "RIGHT"

Best attribute I noticed having used x100's for years, these give you a sixth gear, with out feeling out of control.

Got some on course time with these the other day; granted it was cooler @ 50*, and a little breeze ~15mph

Long par 4(500 - 480 always into the wind), I screwed up and put the tee ball into the trap off the tee, leaving me back pin position 222 and surrounded by bad stuff (elevated bunkers, with steep slope, triple bogey material). So Not to make matters worse (I know I am a wuss), I choose to shoot for the front of the green which was ~200-210, taking a 5 iron out of the trap and getting it right to where I wanted to be short and middle /front.

Ball flight coming out of that bunker was perfect and spin (in real life vs Trackman) must have been superb, blowing around 15mph and 50*, performance much like my C Taper with better feel.

Been the first time I really got to evaluate performance outside - DEF worth the buy, though my understanding is they are still somewhat hard to come by

Your comment really intrigues me. I definitely want to give these a try. I'm currently playing PX 7.0s and I like the feel of those over the 6.5. The 7.0 has helped with dispersion and spin but if these are similar with better feel, I'm gonna have to find a set.

I'm trying to find the original specs of the X7s because I thought they were heavier. I found a TT brochure from 2011 listing X300s at 134g at 41". I feel like the originals were heavier than the new version.

I've heard people say anywhere from 132-135g in weight for the original X7, majority have said 132 though. Remember X300 is just a X100 that came out too heavy and X7 is a whole different profile from X100, a heavier or even hard stepped X100 does not equal X7, and more weight doesn't always mean stiffer. 132 is beefy enough as it is.

My swingspeed is about 95mph on a 5 iron. I struggle with high spin and high launch. Recently did a fitting and got fit for s400 in my irons. I like the shaft because of its heavy feel but I'm worried it might be too soft if I go at it. On the other hand I'm worried the X7s might be too much? Any opinions? I've played x100 in the past and ctaper 130x. Any comments would be great thanks!

It's going to be all about your tempo/how you load the shaft.

If you're reasonably smooth, S400 isn't a problem. A few years ago, I was 92-94, occasionally going higher, but my tempo was ugly; had to go to DGX. Since then, I've largely smoothed my tempo, and DGS came back into the realm of shafts I could use with little trouble.

A couple years prior to the above, my tempo and transition were harsh enough that Rifle 6.5 was hook city, and even DGX was a problem, so I bought a 7.0 PX 7iron shaft to test (I may have gained a couple mph over that 92-94 as well, based on distance at the time). If X7 were an option, I probably would have looked into them (was unaware of their existence). I never got around to installing the PX7.0, and my positive gains in the Tempo Wars made it unnecessary. <shrug>

The bottom half to two thirds of DG shafts are fairly robust. Unless you are going at it moderately hard, it will probably stand up to your efforts. You could always try a test club or two, see how they react on the course. Or go bareback and go full set install in your primary irons, test them for a while to see what you get. <shrug>

Good luck :)

Thanks for the info man! I would say my tempo is reasonably smooth but slightly more to the aggressive side which is why I think it might get that s400 spinning too much. I have looked all around into demoing an X7 but I can't find any unless I buy the whole set of irons which I might have to.. Lol thanks again!
