im sure a lot of people with fancy cars in this thread care about their net worths as well!!

I know, my comment was somewhat in jest... though buying fancy cars typically doesn't help one's net worth considering their rapid depreciation.

Many high end cars stop depreciating after about 5-6 years and often slowly appreciate. Many of those with very nice cars, in reality they are smaller purchase than a corolla would be for the average American.

I'll be switching my whole bag this year, I finally got a staff position! My bag will be all Callaway in 2018.

I also picked up a new ride, 2018 Impreza Sport 5MT.

Honestly, for this car, I would have gone CVT. Oh, wait... that's what I did. (I have a '17 Sport Imp - I love Subies, hence my user name) The newer CVT is lightyears better than the old one in the 16 and earlier models. I'm a manual guy for life (Also have '00 S2000 and '14 BRZ - both manual), but for a commuter... the CVT and flappy paddles do very well with fast shifts (I know, shifting a CVT... but Subaru nailed it.)

Also what's surprising with the Imp Sport, how well the thing handles... I have reached a new "high speed" for some onramps and corners around here. It just digs in and goes. (I've surprised some other cars I've been behind - until things straighten out - then it's absolutely NO surprise what happens next).

The sport handles WAY better than any of the other Imprezas. I think it's an 18mm rear sway bar that does it? I wont stop driving a manual until I cant anymore. I live in a very small town and take back roads to work so there's almost never traffic.

Clubs are Mizuno's for the most part...car is simply a terrible decision - a Chevy Trax. I was trying to be financially responsible and got a lease for $100/mo so I sold my BMW 335 and I miss it a lot :(

I will be getting a Sonata 2.0T next year, then will likely get back into a German sports sedan/coupe at some point. We've had a couple Hyundai's recently and I've been impressed with what you get for the money.

I always make the "responsible" decision too and i always have mixed feelings about it. I like hoarding money for vacations or house renos, or golf clubs or whatever, maybe i get kidnapped and need ransom money or we have a zombie outbreak...who knows.....But i always buy "less" car than i "could" afford whatever that means.

I tell my wife one day i'll buy a nice car. I like cars....but i just never do it. I've owned 4 Corollas

This time i bought a Buick Encore (fully loaded baby!) which is the same platform as the Trax and will give it to my wife in the next 1-2 years.

If you want a Korean car, have you seen the new Kia Stinger? OMG that looks bad*ss. That may be MtlJeff's next one

Of course, i will probably just buy another Corolla.

I have definitely looked at the Stinger. If it weren't rwd, I'd certainly consider it, but it's not necessarily optimal in the winter here in Colorado. That's the thing I loved about my BMW - awd, pretty damn fast (modded to 400hp+), and a beast in the snow with snow tires.

I figure in 8yrs or so, I'll be irresponsible and buy another car I shouldn't lol.

See signature for clubs. Car is a 2018 Subaru STi. Prior to that I was in a 2013 Audi S4 for nearly 6 years...mine didn't age gracefully regardless of being dealer serviced on time and not being thrashed on when driving.

its relative.

If you have 100 k in the bank and lease a 30k car that's acceptable.

If you have 2 mil in the bank and lease / purchase a 250k car on paper it makes more sense.

Everyone debating about $$. Who cares what other people are worth. Who cares what other people spend their own money on?

Enjoy the thread, and move along.

Maybe buying fancy cars for some people is their vice? Maybe its what they enjoy? Not everyone needs to own a large home. Not everyone needs to walk around with fat stacks in the bank or market that could crash tommorrow.

At the end of the day, it's only money. Can't take it to the ground with you.... Life is to short.

So you know what, buy that fancy car, go on that vacation, do something you've always wanted to do.

Harsh reality is that you may not wake up tomorrow....

That’s my theory, and I don’t have kids to leave it to. As long as my bills are paid and I’ve got a little bit of a “rainy day fund”, I enjoy the money I work hard for.

Amen brother. No kids either, only child, small family. Roof over my head, bills are all paid and a rainy day fund. The rest gets spent how ever the wife and I desire. I work hard for my money, I spend how I please. I don't care what anyone else thinks of me whether I drive a Lamborghini or a 20 year old civic. I spend my money how I want to.

Cars for whatever reason are a product that people get irrationally jealous over. It's a phallic thing, like if someone has a nicer car they are more of a man. There's a major psychological thing there.....Like if someone has a 2000$ watch no one really cares, or if someone has an expensive Michael Kors wallet or wears a 1000$ suit while you are in one from sears, it's not like you start lecturing them about money or start justifying it like "well i COULD afford it if i wanted to, but i'm not dumb like him for buying it!"

But cars?

Good god people get defensive. In the threads we do here you even see it immediately. Guys are like "i own a Honda Civic....Never needed more!!!!" Or "I drive a Kia Sportage, because i don't feel the need to impress people!"

It's like if you don't own a Mercedes you have to qualify it by saying something like , well if i wanted a Mercedes i'd have one

Cars are a major source of male pride. Disproportionately so

Awesome ride! I’ve read some reviews and it sounds like Kia has a winner with that release. This is not a “how dare you?” question but I was wondering what about the Stinger attracted you at that price point? I drive a Jag F-Pace so I get the same question occasionally, HAHA!

Sweet ride, Shilgy! How is the material and finish for the interior and overall quality? That's my big hesitation since I'd be spending $45k+...

I had been driving Acura's for 25 years so really expected to buy a TLX. Looked at BMW 3 and 4 series, Jaguar XE, Merc C series, even Alfa. Initially thought I would wind up with the forthcoming Genesis G70. But retirement is near and realized that with my wife having a small car the slightly bigger Stinger was a better car for me. Didn't hurt to save $10k-$20k over similar equipped cars either. :)

Now? This is the first car I have had for years and years that I really really love. Kia has moved up so far with their top of the line vehicles but most folks cannot get past the badge. The Cadenza Stinger and K900 are world class cars. Period. I have had zero issues in my short time owning the car. With the GT2 you get every imaginable safety option. Rear cross traffic alert-lane departure warning-adaptive cruise control.............

My suggestion-test drive one if you are in the market for a similar car.

Hmmm, i don't believe we are getting a RWD version in Canada. Kia's site shows only the AWD. Its definitely possible as sometimes due to winter those models sell like crap here anyway. That's a sweet ride though

I have a Buick now and they are coming out with the new Regal GS which is a similar price point and AWD too.

If i go back to sedans both of those babies will be on the very short list

Sticks are in my sig.

Work Truck and daily : 2017 Silverado 2500 duramax.

My precious : 2015 Charger SRT 392

Sadly the charger barely gets drove. It only has 5k on the clock and most all of that was from one trip. The duramax on the other hand just rolled 70k and I got it 9 months ago. I trade them in when they get to 150k and that’s just under two years usually. I drive way too much for work.

I have a Corvette. I maybe drove it once last year. Trunk is too small for the clubs, no power steering or A/C. My midlife crisis calls for soemthing calm and comfortable!

I could fit 2 sets in my Z06 convertible and it was the best car ive ever owned. Get one from this century!!

I like mine from before I was even born! (Although I don’t like getting in and out of it!)
