MP25 are a combo right out of the box. 7-P are essentially MB even though they have the badges, 3-6 are pocket cavity. I'm partial since I own them but other than those, my ideal set would be 716 CB 3-6 and MB 7-P, possibly TMB 3-4 for those less than stellar ball striking rounds...

I'm playing the SLDR irons. Those are just a regular cavity back in P, add an undercut cavity for 8 and 9. Then they go to an undercut cavity with the slot for 4-7. So they've got some progressive features.

Also nice because the pitching wedge is 46 while the 4 iron is 21 so you get a nice spread. One thing I hate about most GI and SGI sets is that the short irons go too far. Then I get bad gaps in the 100-150 yard range where I'm standing at 125 and don't know what to do :( With the SLDR's wedge and a 50 gap wedge I like my gaps a lot better.

My indispensable 6 and 7 irons are Speedblades. After that I'm a bit flexible. I have some S56, S57 and S58 irons, so using a S56 8 iron. I could use the 9 iron but I actually prefer a Bridgestone J36 PC there, and that does me for PW as well. After that I go to a 50* wedge.

I can't believe that the S3 Pro's haven't been mentioned.....

Cobra s3 pro

Agree. You can't do better than the s3 pros.

I loved mine, and have a set of amp cell pros on the way. Cobra does a great job on the flow set concept.

Wilson Staff Progressives. Most combo sets to me feel like I am hitting three different sets of irons. Throws me off a little bit with the different top lines and amount of offset or sole width.

And available in lefthand! Played mine about nine years. Liked the 735CM alot, very forgiving. 735s are really the same size as 690s. S3Pro might be the best all around. Very soft, long, and surprisingly forgiving for a compact head.

In your opinion which is the best combo or "flow set" combination? We're looking for a more forgiving long iron and more of a bladed or players short iron.

Examples:

1. 716 CB (4-6), MB (7-PW)

2. T-MB (4-5), MB (6-PW)

3. MP-25 (4-6), MP-5 (7-PW)

4. Cobra Stock "Flow Set"

5. Apex CF16 (4-6), Apex MB or Pro (7-PW)

6. Nike Fly Pro or Pro Combo (4-6), Vapor Pro (7-PW)

7. Ping I (4-6), S55 (7-PW)

Feel free to add more and share your thoughts!

Definitely Number One! See Below... LOL

I think Wilson Staff ought to develop a new 'Progressives' set built around the FG Tour 100s. I can see a definite market for such a set.

Titliest 962 and 962b's.

Legal grooves, forgiveness with shot shaping ability, old school lofts, progressive offset, great grind, appealing look, durable as heck, I could go on and on.

My 'combo set: TM 2014 Tour Preferred MC's, (4-PW), with Tour Preferred UDI as the 20* #3-Iron!..

The TaylorMade UDI, (Ultimate Driving Irons) are also available in lofts of 16* (#1), 18* (#2), 23* (#4), and 26* (#5) should you wish to add another UDI, or replace more TP MC long irons with UDI's!

The UDI club lengths and lofts match up perfectly with the length/loft progression of the 2014 TP MC irons!

Classic-MP53's- I may be biased because I still play them, but they are just a great set.

Underrated- VRS Pro Combo. Great feeling set of sticks.

I also agree with that Cobra S3's. They are getting tough to find nowadays though.

That's less a "combo set" and more "replacing a 3 iron with a hybrid" in my book. :)

Whatever works best for a 'particular player'!...Some people may want ALL their long irons to be UDI's! As mentioned in Post #54, the UDI Driving Irons are available in lofts from 16* to 26*. (#1 through #5). That creates a very powerful combo set!

You can also mix and match the 2014 TaylorMade Preferred CB, MC, and MB irons, for yet another way to create a nice combo set!... TM offers the 'ultimate' in combo versatility!...
