Monday of 85. The really great thing about getting older ,is that eventually one

starts playing for the enjoyment of the game instead of the score. Beautiful weather in the southern Ohio mountain areas.  Hope all you guys get to play so much golf this summer that you get tired of it !

and he is probably doing it for $10 a day, I have been on some roads in Haiti in a Toyota Land Cruiser that scared the living daylights out of me. Kind of like that "road" with mountain on one side and 1,000 ft drop on the other. 

No room for error, well one error and a long roll down the mountain.

Yep I have had to learn that. For me it is the fact I am able to play at all and not in a wheelchair. I can play 6 days a week if I want to. But I have gotten able to work in the yard and on the house some and honestly enjoying it. I work at my own pace. I get tired and hot I come inside or out in the shop and rest. I have also altered my diet quite a bit and have lost about 6 pounds in the last 2 weeks. Today I did something I have not been able to do in over 4 years. I used my electric push mower and did the front and back yards in one swoop not resting. I am not tired at all nor do I hurt. Tomorrow it is supposed to rain so no league play. Wednesday was a regular scheduled work day at the house. Going to dig up and re mulch the front flower bed which is like 14 X 5. It has not been dug out in probably 10 years and needs it before I put in new mulch. In a few I am going to take a shower and take the wife to the Moose for supper since she works tonight

I took pictures of a lady sweeping her dirt floor shack in Manus, Brasil and how proud she was of it being clean. Her husband worked for my friend and we went to pick him up so he did not have to walk to the dock.

They were the cleanest and happiest people you ever met, he was telling us he had some electricity because he learned how to tap into the main line running though the village which was at least 1,000 shacks all about the same. No windows and a tarp for a door.

When I got home my son (who was maybe 8-9 years old) met me at the door complaining about his room not being big enough for his stuff. I showed him the pictures and told him how lucky he was to be born in the U.S. with parents that love him and would die providing for him, to this day he never complains about anything and see's the good in places I miss. (he is a cop so he see's a lot of crap)

When I raced safety was always a priority for me. I built my cages safe and kept the newest and latest safety equipment.

Our track was not enforcing safety rules that were written in plain English. We had a series of bad accidents and people were seriously injured thankfully no one killed. The insurance company was fixing to pull out. The track formed a safety committee which I was on. I remember the track owner brought the guy from the insurance company to my place. I showed him where on the safety aspect all of my cars were to NASCAR Goodys Dash specs. My motto was if one could not afford to race safely they should not race at all. Actually 2 of my cars had ran in the Dash Series. I can remember everyone in every division was informed and the track was closed for 2 weeks to give everyone time to get their act together. The first week open they opened like 3 hours early to do inspections. I can remember of about 100 cars there like 30 did not pass inspection. Some were little stupid things like having a fire extinguisher mounted and other crap like outdated seat belts. Some did not have a steel barrier around the fuel cell and no foam. That is like running a simple boat tank

They were very good yesterday and you folks were not kidding about shredding a golf ball. I hit the 54 from about 80 yards and it hit and ripped back a few feet, the ball looked like I hit a cart path. 

Chipping around the greens with the 58 was hit or miss since I am not used to hit but as you said "fly them to the hole" a little 15 yd chip stops in a bounce or two. 

The grinds are really surprising, you can lay them wide open or square to the ball and they sit flat. I have never seen anything like that before. Hit one sand shot with the 58 and it went damn near straight up in the air and landed and stopped dead, more about my lousy technique than the head but I see the potential.

 

I can't wait to get them out of the 6.5 PX shafts and into the 110 Steefiber's the PX are fine but lack any feel. With a softer tip and bit less weight overall they should be scary good.

But seriously, I would like to find a cure as it is worse each year and now Mrs. scotee is getting muscle cramps as well.  

 

Coming up on 72 next week may be the problem but if by chance I am not alone and you have an answer, I will be grateful.

 

Quinine Sulfate (QS)

 

They were prescribed for over a century to successfully stop leg cramps but medical professionals have stopped prescribing them because of their "toxicity". IMHO, it's because QS is cheap and works better than anything else they are trying to sell for 10-100 times the price. FWIW, QS is still prescribed for anti-malarial purposes across the globe.

 

Kinda reminds me of Ivermectin . . .

 

Personal anecdote: I've worked in Panama, Guana, El Salvador, Nicaragua, the Okeefenokee, south Louisiana, south Florida, Fort Benning, and countless other hot and humid tropical garden spots on this planet where you couldn't physically drink enough water to stay ahead of the sweat. QS is the ONLY thing that stopped me from cramping, especially at night while resting. Your mileage may vary but it'd be worth a try.

The water talk from a few days ago reminded me of you being from around Ft Smith. I grew up in the very south end of the Ouachita's and our water is the same as what they're bottling in Hot Springs. My son comes to visit every quarter or so and always brings us a touch of home in a green bottle.

Damnit, now I want a Hot Pastrami sandwich. And getting one in florida is hit or miss, there used to be a chain here called Too Jays that was started in the Jewish area of Palm beach and was amazing.  For family reasons they closed all the places even though the were always packed with a wait.  I sure won't get one tomorrow in Santo Domingo.

Never been to Haiti, but had family in Jamaica and I would have a hard time experiencing anything more terrifying than driving through the mountains there! ☠️

 

For all its complications and difficulties, still love Jamaica. 🇯🇲

I spent a lot of time fishing on Lake Ouachita and kayaking the Cossatot River (in addition to lakes and rivers in the Ozarks). My hunting/fishing mentor took me once on a trip with some of his buddies where they decided I needed to learn to drink Scotch, which we mixed with Ouachita Lake water. Said to me there was nothing purer (the lake was remarkably clear).  This was long before any of us had heard of giardia. 
 

I gave Scotch one more try on a visit to the Isle of Skye and that was it for me. 
 

Bourbon man ever since.
