HI all, as many of you know, our son is in prison now. The prison system in Ohio has a growing number of COVID cases. Where he is the numbers are rising pretty rapidly. He calls us every Wednesday and Sunday without fail. Last Wednesday he said they took out his three immediate neighbors who tested positive. There is nowhere to take them to, only put them in quarantine and hope for the best. He was being tested that day, and said if we didn't hear from him on Sunday that means he tested positive as well. We didn't hear from him yesterday. In quarantine there is no communication to the outside. There is also no communication to the outside of his status by the prison system, after all, he's a 37 year old man, and not a child, so you can't expect them to call his parents, I guess I can understand that. So we just wait, quarantine starts off a minimum of 14 days, then they go from there, if he gets better on his own, so be it, if not, well, not a whole lot they can do, prisoners don't get much priority. There's only one facility in the state that accepts them for major medical treatment, a floor at the OSU medical hospital, and I understand it's jam packed ...

So sorry to hear of this news @SixtySomePing. I will pray that your son survives this ordeal in which he finds himself so that you might be a whole family again one day.

What really surprised me was how Lydia played the final hole. She still had a 1 shot lead with that one hole left, a par 5. She was

green high in 2. If she pitches it onto the green anywhere and 2 putts she wins. Instead she inexplicably played like me and hit

her 3rd shot through the green into the rough on the other side. OK, fine. She gets up and down from there she wins cause

Danielle was having her own problems.

 

But then Lydia fails to get her 4th shot on the green, her ball doesn't make it up the hill and now rolls back down into a bunker.

Wow, this is some serious weekend warrior hacking by someone known for her polished short game. Even still, if she gets up

and down from the bunker and makes bogie they tie and go to a playoff.

 

She then hits her bunker shot well past the hole, then misses the bogie putt and makes a double and loses by one shot. It was

painful to watch and Lydia was smiling the whole time like it was nothing but you knew she knew she was nervous inside and

choking.

 

I'm happy for Danielle but this is devastating for Lydia; whose career has gotten way off track the past 4 years. We get these

very young superstars who seem like invulnerable world beaters and then..............poof, something goes wrong. Lydia, Yani Tseng,

Jordan Spieth. I don't think it's their physical game either. I think they just lose that mental edge that had put them on

another level......and once you lose it at such a young age it's very very hard to get it back because you are now rich and

famous and have an easy life and just can't artificially manufacture something again that had just come naturally before.

 

Lydia, Yani and Jordan have had HOF careers in just a few years and then they spend years and years after trying to

manufacture 1 more win.......and it isn't like they are old and over the hill.

 

Thinking about this I think I need to give props to Rory because I think he may have been headed down this road too but

found a way to get his edge back. He hasn't won a major since 2014 but he has won a Players, 2 Fedex Cups, and many

other tournaments and is still a Ryder Cup star.

Lydia took so long with that chip that I started wondering.....some serious drama on that hole that wasn't expected. And Morikawa chipped in when one thought he might be lucky to get up and down. And of course driving that par4 for eagle. Super muscles hit around same spot and kicked right. Gotta have some luck.

Found a really good explanation on how to swing from inside from one of our local re-max long driving people that really opened my eyes. You simply swing way out to the right and let the body rotation take you straight. A poor explanation, but I guess its no use to post a link since its in a languague uncouth to most.

To us (s)wing nuts it makes perfect sense. It's a baseball analogy. If you're a right hander try to hit the ball to right field. Most can just do it

intuitively without thinking where all the body parts must go to do it. If you try the same move with golf ball it will get you on a proper

inside out path to the golf ball.

Thanks Sco, he's quite healthy so I'm thinking he can tough it out. I do appreciate your prayers. There are so many hurting right now, for so many reasons. It makes you reflect on your own life and realize how much you have to be thankful for, and hopefully look for more ways to be a blessing to someone else somehow...

I have one, it says 5208, if they were ft. I would only have 78 more to reach a mile...

Got back out on the course yesterday for the first time in two weeks following my latest episode with my back.  The good news is that the back reacted fine and I did enjoy my game, such as it was.  I recall bragging on here that I hadn't lost a ball in like 4 weeks and yesterday I lost 4 balls in 9 holes!  That give you an idea of the quality of my ball striking or lack thereof...  To give you an idea of how things went I was shooting 3 from the ladies tee on the first hole as I duffed my tee shot right into the rock berm around the pond in front of the first tee!

 

It was an odd round with I think 4 penalty strokes in nine holes, but also three pars from up and downs, so the short game and flat stick were actually working better than average.

 

Tonight is our staff tournament and barbeque, so that's always a good time.  I was thinking last night that it has been several years since we've actually got to play due to rainouts or me being away holidaying.  Last year was cold as I recall and no one wanted to play so we just went straight for the beer and barbeque.  I know that the clubhouse girls have been playing a fair bit and they're all anxious to get out thee and show off their "stuff", so I do hope that the weather holds.

Fella, Reasy has an Aldila Serrano shaft in his G15 5 wood. He said it's a hot combo. I had that same combo for a

short while but that Serrano shaft launched a little low for me so I swapped it out for a Grafalloy  Bhut Jolokia. Wow,

talk about a high launch low spin combo. This is it.

How does that work, have to post to see other posts. Pages are there for me, it appears it is all back again. One problem, when I open up to look at the grille it always takes me back to page one, and it looks nothing like the old system so we shall see if it works better, not as I am a pessimist or anything like that.

Almost forgotten what was happening on here as at my time in life one week can seem like 10 years and with the memory not as good as it was it all becomes fuzzy, never mind I am sure a glass or two of red will fix it up.?????????????
