  • State the goals for your golf game in 2017 - I am enjoying the best scoring season I've ever had, but I know there is more work that can be done especially in terms of short game deficiencies and shots around the green. My goals for next year are to really fine-tune my chipping, pitching, and feel shots, as well as putting. I also want to improve my shotmaking in less-than-perfect weather, specifically wind, as I often encounter that at my home course. Finally, I'd like to get fully into scratch territory by getting my handicap inside of zero.
  • State why you'd want to attend this exclusive opportunity to be fit at Callaway Golf - I am an equipment enthusiast and I love building, testing, and "fitting" my own equipment. I love all of the science and numbers behind it, and continuously get engrossed by the new products/prototypes and emerging tech each season. Since I've never been fully professionally fit, Callaway seems like the perfect manufacturer as some of my favorite clubs as I was growing up and learning the game were mostly Callaway hand-me-downs from my father (FT-5, original Mac Daddy wedges, X-14s, etc). So much of my free time is spent on GolfWRX so it would be a special honor to be able to represent the community here in visiting the Callaway facility.

Goals for 2017:

Get more accuracy off the tee...or at least a dependable one way miss.

Reduce my handicap below 12.7 (previous all time low)

Stop sucking at putting.

Play more!

Why do I want to go and be fit at Callaway?:

I think my game would benefit from a proper fitting by experts. I'd also like to see if there's a club that can knock my trusty Big Bertha 3 wood from my bag (8 years now?). I'd also like to escape the NJ winter. Finally, I'll offer to be designated driver for the other 7 WRXers at post fitting drinks if I'm selected....

Goals:

For 2017 my main goal is to dedicate more time to the game of golf. With long hours in the lab and on the road I want to get my game in shape to compete on the FSGA circuit once more.

Why do I want to go and be fit at Callaway?:

After just presenting on 'Sport Science in Golf: What we can learn from other sports' at the World Golf Fitness Summit last week my love for the game has been reignited. It has been a long time since I was properly fitted for a full bag of clubs and I would be extremely grateful for the opportunity. Hopefully, I would lend a unique perspective to the reviews of the experience as a sports scientist who is inside the ropes of numerous sports and would love to compare Callaway Golf's world to the others I see.

Current USGA Handicap: 12.1

State the goals for your golf game in 2017: My goal for the 2017 season is very simple, to play golf on a more regular basis with my friends and family. Golf has given me countless opportunities to build lasting relationships that I will remember and cherish for the rest of my life. I grew up playing the game as a junior golfer and instantly fell in love with everything about it. The early summer mornings, the nervous first tee jitters, the competition and meeting other fellow junior golfers that I still keep in contact with today. The passion that I have for the game might have dwindled over the years but it has never gone away. I hope to play regularly and improve my average score from 84 to 80 through proper instruction and be able to enjoy the game a little more that I love.

State why you'd want to attend this exclusive opportunity to be fit at Callaway Golf: This opportunity would give me a once in a lifetime opportunity to be fit for in my opinion one of the best if not the best equipment manufacturers in all the golf industry. My experience with Callaway Golf is nothing but spectacular. My first experience was with the Callaway Diablo Octane driver that I was absolutely blown away by, the feel was incredible, the launch and spin were perfect and this driver outperformed anything on the market at that time. I also played irons and fairway woods that were miles ahead of the competition. The biggest regret that I have is getting rid of those clubs to be traded for a different brand. I thought that I could go to a different brand and that would satisfy my equipment "hoing" needs. But I was very wrong, nothing compares to the quality and performance of Callaway. Just recently I decided to hunt down an old Callaway diablo octane driver and I could not be happier, the performance is exactly liked I remembered. My game has been more consistent and I have more confidence off the tee. To see all the technology that Callaway has incorporated into their clubs over the years is impressive, I would love to be able to put into play all of these clubs and truly experience all that Callaway has to offer from putter all the way up to driver.

I truly appreciate Callaway and Golfwrx putting this together.

All the best!

Goals for 2017:

Hit more Greens in Regulation, Approach accuracy is hit or miss.

Become more consistent at putts from 4-10 feet

Why do I want to go and be fit at Callaway?:

I have never tried Callaway Iron and Wedges and i believe a proper fit will help tighten up my dispersion. I use Callaway woods (GBB, XR woods) and that is where my greatest strength of my game is so i dont see why i wouldn't get along with Callaway Irons and Wedges.

Current USGA handicap:

6.4

Goals for my game in 2017:

To be more consistent! I am going to be buying lessons as opposed to equipment and focus on my game. I have floated around a 5-6 handicap for 2 years now and I would like to approach a 2-3 handicap.

Why I'd want to attend:

What golfwrx'er wouldn't want to attend?!?!? This would be a dream trip of a lifetime that my wife couldn't say no to LOL! I would have the opportunity to talk golf & golf equipment with the best in the business, without having to worry about anything but myself! I've had the same Callaway irons for 6 years and I'm ready for the newest improvement...

Current handicap: 7.2

Goals for 2017: Get my handicap under 5, and go lower than my current personal best score of 77.

Why I would want to attend: I've made some progress with my game in the past 2 years with lessons, and have gained some club head speed through working on my swing. Almost my entire bag right now is from a fitting that was done prior to starting lessons. Having a chance to go to Callaway and get fit by the best in the business would leave me no doubt that my equipment is well fitted for my "new" swing, and would allow me to have more confidence in all parts of my game as I continue to work on my game in 2017.

USGA: Just got back my amateur status this summer and have not established a handicap. It would be scratch though.

Goals: I am very happy with my set make up and have played very good this summer, but I would like see if I can find that driver shaft that can help me hit one more fairway.

Why: I don't know why anyone would not want to go. I just want this experience and a see this as a chance to better my game.

Current USGA handicap: 11.3

State the goals for your golf game in 2017: I want to cut my handicap in half. I carried a +2 in high school and now am up to an 11.3 due to lack of play. I want to turn that around and get it mid single digits.

State why you'd want to attend this exclusive opportunity to be fit at Callaway Golf: Because right now, Callaway is setting the gold standard for equipment. I have played some Callaway equipment in the past and their equipment intrigues me right now, but I've been unable to find a fitter in my area that can maximize their equipment to where it fits my game and I am comfortable enough to put it in my bag for good

Current USGA handicap:

I do not currently have one, but unofficially, I would say a 10.

State the goals for your golf game in 2017:

First, I'd like to establish an official USGA handicap. Second, I'd like to win my Monday-night golf league. I have finished second, and seventh in the last two years and know that I am the best golfer there, I just need to perform. Third, I'd like to enter a competitive tournament or two to be able to play some new courses in my area and see how I stack up against some different competition.

State why you'd want to attend this exclusive opportunity to be fit at Callaway Golf:

I'd like to be fit by the best who do this for a living. I do not trust the box-store employees and know that I've forgotten more about golf then they will ever know. I know, you'll say to go to my club pro, but he has too much on his plate like ordering enough granola bars to stock the snack shack. I want the best at what they do to analyze my swing and put me into the proper equipment. I want to stand over the ball and know that it is on me to execute and Callaway can offer that.

USGA index: Don't have one, but would say about 10 (don't hold this against me, very busy with family, work and trying to get on this trip)

Goals for 2017:

My goals are to, get fit for my clubs for the first time ever. Continue to follow my putting routine every single time. Dial in my wedge game distances and smile more when I'm on the course.

Why do I want to go and be fit at Callaway?:

Because I lurk on the site, a lot and don't post as much(a fresh voice from someone who won't be playing a new set of clubs every 2 1/2 weeks), because I could turn my mixed bag into a bag full of clubs that fit, because meeting Roger Cleveland or Phil would be a dream come true, because I know Callaway has some super sweet Arnie memorial that I would never get to see otherwise, finally, because I am tired of watching my buddy edge past me on the fairways with his XR pro setup.

Current USGA Handicap- 12.2

Goals for my 2017 golf game- To be able to break into the single digit handicap range while balancing work and family obligations, 2 little ones under the age of 4 make it a challenge but one that I think I can meet!

Why would I want to be fit at Callaway Golf?- Obviously it would be an amazing experience for a self proclaimed "Super Hack"! I am an avid golfer that lives and breathes the game, golf is second only to my family! Other than attending "demo days" or having a loft and lie check in the hitting bay at a big box store, I have never been fit for clubs. I currently play Apex CF 16 irons, Fusion Driver, XR 3 wood and hybrids, I absolutely love what Callaway offers. I would love for Callaway to be given the opportunity to knock the other "guys" wedges and putter out of my bag as well! I believe Callaway is a leader in innovation and feel this would be a wonderful opportunity for an average Joe to be a part of this great brand. Thank you and keep up the great work!!

Goals:

GOAL #1 - My goal in the winter of 2014-15 was to practice two to three times a week until the spring and I had my best golf season in the summer of 2015. This past winter, I didn’t practice as much and my 2016 golf season wasn’t quite as good. I want to get back to focusing on my game in the winter like I did 2 years ago and come out in 2017 so I can be competitive in EVERY event I play in.

GOAL #2 – I want to test products more extensively than I have been and I want to experiment with more shafts in my irons and wedges than I have before. I want to really figure out what is right for my game. I want to figure out if I can get “more” out of my drives with an average 101 mph swing speed, just based around the right build on a driver for myself. 240 carry and 268 totals…I have to be leaving something on the table.

GOAL #3 – Implement a workout routine, not only to get healthier, but to get stronger and more fit for golfing.

Why do I want to go and be fit at Callaway?

I’m all Callaway, you name it, I have it. Equipment, accessories, apparel….everything. My first set of serious irons were the 1996 Big Bertha Irons and I was given an Odyssey White Hot #1 putter in high school, and I have been an Odyssey user ever since. I own 85 Odyssey putters, yes, 85 Odyssey putters. I have great equipment today and I would absolutely love to discuss what I should be playing with the true fitting professionals at Callaway.

Perhaps I shouldn’t be playing my Callaway X-Prototype irons (H-heads, with V Groove stamp, patina finish) with 5.5 Project X LZ iron shafts. Maybe I should be playing my MB-1 irons with KBS TOUR 90 shafts that I have found some success with this year. Maybe I shouldn’t have all Tour AD-DI shafts in my Big Bertha Alpha 815 woods and hybrids. I can pseudo-fit myself by experimenting, but it would be nice to get some real answers from the professionals.

I have been very fortunate over the years with Callaway, from the great customer service to the high quality products they produce, you could not ask for more from a company that gives so much to its end users. I would love to be given the opportunity to share this experience with WRX nation via quality literature.

And I have never been to California. Escaping Michigan in the dead of winter would be beyond fabulous.

Ladies and Gentlemen from Golfwrx & Callaway,

Thank you for this marvelous opportunity!!

Current USGA Handicap Index: 10.3

My Golf Goals for 2017:

Reduce my USGA Index to 7.0 or below by:

  • Improving the Fairways hit % to 60% or better;
  • Improving my up and down % from 30 yards and in to 65%;
  • It would be nice to add 10 yards to the driver to help the two reduce the pressure on the two foregoing items, but this is not a stated goal and will not be pursued at the expense of the first bullet point in this section.

Reasons why I would like to attend the exclusive fitting opportunity at Callaway Golf:

The Callaway organization has always presented an image (at least in my opinion) of high integrity both in the products they produce as well as the pros they have selected to represent their products. Mr. Callaway has attracted elite players with tremendous character and the graciousness to give back to the community through such names as Arnold Palmer, Annika Sorenstam, Phil Mickelson, Patrick Reed, Jim Furyk and Lydia Ko. Mr. Callaway himself exhibited incredible compassion himself when he offered to pay various gambling debts for John Daley years ago in exchange for playing the Callaway clubs. It would be a privilege and a pleasure to meet members of the Callaway company and hear some of the stories.

From a technical golfing standpoint the opportunity to be fit by such a high level fitting team provides the opportunity for me to optimize a set of clubs allowing me to play and score my best. I am an aging 50 something with a low 90s driver SS who suffers with nerve pain from spinal stenosis. Accordingly, I have to practice and play very smartly since I cannot physically endure countless hours on the range, wedge and chipping greens and putter green (although I would if I could). Accordingly this opportunity affords me the privilege of picking the brains of some of the best people in the industry to:

  • Play with different driver shafts in an effort to optimize distance versus accuracy;
  • Evaluate the lateral and vertical dispersion of steel versus graphite iron shafts;
  • Blend the woods, hybrids and irons together through shaft and loft selection to ensure distance gaps between the different types of clubs are optimized;
  • Utilize the same shaft in my wedges that are used in my irons for consistency in feel and distance gapping.
  • Evaluate different putters for optimization between feel, distance control and alignment.

Thank you all so much for your consideration and best wishes,

Average (no longer have an index): about a 10

Golf goals for 2017:

1) Get enough rounds in to make it worth while to have an index.

2) Break 80 more than once.

3) Get excited about golf equipment again.

Why I would like to go on this trip:

Long time golf equipment junkie. Dabbled in the industry (design) a little but surprisingly have NEVER been fitted for clubs. Like a lot of wrx members, I always enjoyed figuring it out on my own. Kids have slowed me down tremendously, limiting my rounds and enough to stop carrying an index.

This would be a great opportunity to get fitted by my favorite golf brand of all time. Played Callaways forever, as far back when Big Bertha drivers just came out and I paid FULL price for it. Lol. Played Callaway drivers exclusively, BB 3w with the original boron shaft and loved my X-Tour forged irons but haven't been interested in their line since. Slowly, other brands made their way into my bag and haven't been playing anything Cally until this year's XR16 fairway metals. I recently benched my Miuras and put back into rotation my JDM Legacy Black irons and wondered why I stopped playing them in the first place. IMO, one of their best iron designs ever.

I love the fact Cally is drawing from past "inspired" designs ... some good, some bad. My hope is this trip will restore the enthusiasm and love I used to have for this brand that once made them kings of the industry.

State the goals for your golf game in 2017 - for the 1st time, I have taken golf lessons this year because I was tired of trying to figure it out on my own.

  • My biggest goal is to hit more greens.
  • I'd love to break 90 regularly, not just every once in a great while.
  • Improved wedge play. I struggle with 100 yd and in shots.

State why you'd want to attend this exclusive opportunity to be fit at Callaway Golf - I want to meet the folks that make the products I love to call my own. I've been a Callaway guy for a really long time, and I would love nothing more than to find out more about the club making process and see what's coming down the line. Current USGA handicape-6.1

My 2017 golf goals are to:

*Become a more consistent golfer with a confident swing I can trust.

*Develop a go to shot for those pressure packed moments.

*Become confident in the clubs I use and to stay away from constantly switching equipment so that I can take the right steps to my above goal.

*Enjoy the game more often with my wife and 2 year old son, who both love to play.

Why I would want this once in a lifetime opportunity to be properly fit at Callaway:

I have never properly been fit for clubs. There is no state of the art fitting facility within 2 hours of my Missouri location that I trust to fit me with equipment. I know that this would be the ULTIMATE fitting experience and that I could trust the equipment I was fitted with going forward for years to come. This would allow me to be a great ambassador for people in my area to go get the the proper fitting while endorsing the clubs I play. I become gloomy during the winter months as I do not hunt and golf is my only hobby. This would get me a few days of warm weather and sunshine to lift my Winter spirits! Most importantly for my golf game, this would be a tremendous aid in helping me achieve my goals listed above!

State your golas for 2015:

I have recently started shooting in the high 70's low 80's and would like to start playing tournaments.

State why you'd want to attend this exclusive opportunity to be fit at Callaway Golf:

I have always bought used clubs because of price and i have the its the indian not the arrow mentality. Now that i've gotten better and can feel the difference between clubs i think a proper fitting can really help my game. I've always adjusted my swing to clubs but it would be nice to get clubs adjusted to my swing. It would be awesome to get fitted but it would be exponentially better if i get fitted at the callaway center compared to getting fitted at a retail store.

First off I would love to attend because I know what an awesome event this is! I have followed it for many years now. The Callaway crew seems to be an awesome group of guys. I have been an avid supporter of Callaway through the good and bad years. Some of my fondest clubs were the Bobby Jones driver, s2h2 3 wood with RCH Pro Series 90 shaft, X14 pro series irons, Steelhead Plus 3+ with RCH 36 Pro Series, and the Great BB driver with the Prolite 35 X just to name a few. Current USGA Handicap

Goals in 2017

Get my game back on track and lower my handicap.

Regain confidence in my game to play more courses.

Establish a training routine to eventually lower my handicap to a single digit.

Why I want to Attend

I played a lot of golf close to 10 years ago but because of work and some health related issues, I stopped for the past 7 years. Finally I'm in a place where I want to focus on relearning and enjoying this wonderful game.

I've started taking lessons and practice seriously again, having the experts at Callaway Golf help me with equipment would push me that much closer to my goals.

Thanks again for such a wonderful opportunity!

  • Current USGA handicap +3.0

  • State the goals for your golf game in 2017 My goals are to improve my game to the point where I can regularly shoot in the 60s. This season, I worked with a coach for the first time and played some tournaments in years, and although my handicap is low, I have only shot a couple of rounds in the 60s. This season was all about improvement and working on the things in my swing that make my shots inconsistent. Next year is all about fine tuning... shot shaping, distance control, and solidifying my weaknesses...becoming the best golfer I can be.

  • State why you'd want to attend this exclusive opportunity to be fit at Callaway Golf? I want to attend this opportunity to be fit at Callaway because I'm a non traditional student graduating from college. I haven't been fit for clubs in many years, partly because, like many WRXers, I've used higher end equipment (particularly Mitsubishi Rayon shafts), which isn't readily found at fitting centers, and partly because this was my first season back in awhile. The opportunity to go to Callaway would give me an amazing opportunity to be properly fit by the best in the business.

  • More importantly, I'm keen to hear and learn more from the people at Callaway what makes them the best club makers. I've always had my own ideas on what makes a club good for a better player, and it's a really unique opportunity to be able to listen to the people who design the clubs to ask, to learn and to discuss the things that makes Callaway clubs so great.

With my swing speed around 116 and I have some shaft lean with my driver it's hard for local fitters to fit me very well do to the limit of shafts they have. I have hit a friends apex irons and was impressed with them and saw on the website the wedges that some of the pros are hitting with a very square leading edge and hope you release those that's what I look for when buying wedges the squareness of the leading edge. I'm not holding my breath on winning this but would be really cool do this and love the chance

  • Current USGA handicap: 10.4
  • State the goals for your golf game in 2017: To be a legitimate single-digit handicap. At 50, this is the closest I've ever been but can't seem to get over the hump. Improve consistency with driver and approach shots; don't get enough out of the driver and my GIR average is terrible.
  • State why you'd want to attend this exclusive opportunity to be fit at Callaway Golf: Firstly, I was a Callaway guy for a number of years and would love the opportunity to be wooed back. I've had two so-so fittings over my lifetime but always feel like I need better matching shafts in my clubs; I never get quite there. Secondly, I'd love the opportunity to see how the sausage is made. I'm a geek at heart and this is a more than a bit geeky. Lastly, I get to hear a lot about people testing new equipment; I'd like to be one of those guys.

Current USGA handicap: 7.0

Goals for 2017: I want to lower my handicap. I would like to be as close to a scratch golfer as possible. My objectives to achieve the goal of lowering my handicap are 1.) improve my short game consistency, and 2.) work to have the equipment that fits me as accurately as possible

My reason for wanting to attend this event and be fit by Callaway Golf: I love golf. I am 31 years old and have been playing golf since I was 4. My dad taught me growing up. I've played consistently from high school up to now and this entire time I have never been professionally fit for my golf clubs. I have always been a standard fit, maybe a degree upright judging from online fitting guides with various club manufacturers, but I have never been fully fit for clubs (irons, woods or putter) by a professional. One of my two objectives to achieve my goal of becoming a scratch golfer is to be professionally fit, and this would be such an excellent opportunity to do so. I've also never been to California, not even close! So this would definitely be an opportunity of a lifetime for me and I'd be more than grateful, to GolfWRX and to Callaway Golf.

Thank you,

USGA index: 8.7

Goals for 2017:

  • Low single digit handicap (reached my goal this year to get to single digits from a 12)
  • Get consistent off the tee, too many strokes lost OB or punching out of trees
  • Play more courses! My playing radius is only about 40 miles. Too many great golf courses in Michigan I haven't played yet.
  • Use only 1 putter the whole year, I always switch putters after a bad round.

Why do I want to go and be fit at Callaway?:

The last time I was fit was for Callaway Razr X Black irons in 2012 at Miles of Golf in Ann Arbor. I went from shooting in the 100's to mid to low 90's that year and started to take the game more seriously than all my playing partners. While they took the winter off, I'm at Miles hitting balls in 30 degree weather and getting lessons. I used those specs to fit into my Mizuno's and Wilson Staff irons and find myself going back to old swing habits to correct mishits. My swing has changed dramatically since then. I've also quit my job and went back to college to become a high school science teacher and can't afford little luxuries like that at this point (would rather be playing golf). Getting a bag fit would help reach my goals I've set for next year faster and it would help tremendously in transforming my game into what I know it can be. Like anyone else who replies to this thread, being able to visit a pro type facility AND being fit for a bag with fitters that work with tour players would be mind blowing! Being in CA in December wouldn't be to shabby either...and squeezing a round in at Torrey Pines wouldn't hurt either.

Thanks for offering this opportunity to all of us hacks GolfWRX!

USGA index:

NA. I've played very limited golf in the past 5-7 years but I've started playing 1-2 times per month.

Goals:

I was an 8-9 handicap consistently and want to get back to a single digits in 2017. I also had an addiction to golf equipment and had a lot of fun with it. I'd like to get back into the mix.

Why do I want to go and be fit at Callaway?:

For any golfer - It would be a once in a lifetime experience!

The exclusive access like a touring pro would have; prototypes; the factory; getting fitted; it's all a golfers dream!

And I would save money on airfare as I live 35 minutes from Carlsbad!
