Did not hit the V4's. However, these are one of the better irons I hit at the PGA show. Very compact, absolutely great feel. Top line looks like a blade but the club plays like a cavity back. Everyone who doesn't give these a go is seriously missing a chance to try a great product.

Now I am faced with a huge iron decision. I really really loved these.

I'm pretty sure that most major manufacturers are offering more than one brand of steel shaft at no upcharge. I doubt they're losing money by charging $1000 for a set of sticks and offering a few more options. Mizuno offers most steel shafts at no upcharge. Callaway offers many as well.

What is going to make someone choose their clubs when they're not really coveted by anyone anymore and you can't hit them outside. What is going to make some basically pay $999 for the heads and $26 extra a club for a project x shaft when they can't hit them outside?

I say this to say that I know they'll be good, but it's hard to defend their pitiful business model. Hey I'd love to have a set of these. I know they're good. They're hurting themselves honestly. Good product. Terrible marketing and availability.

You're right about their reach with the average customer, admittedly I don't feel that being in the Chicago area. They're in the big stores so I can see them, and their reps are at all the demo days so I can try them, and usually very lonely in comparison to the others. That's their choice, I don't know how or why they do things that way, but from the few reps I know they move product pretty well at their demos, once they get it into potential customers hands. I see them as being much like Bridgestone and Mizuno, they're small, they've got a niche and they stick with it. They're not a market leader like the others, nor can they afford to act as such.

You're correct that most offer no charge shaft upgrades, but have you looked at the pricing more closely? They all cost $1200 vs the $1000 that Wilson is charging with their stock shafts. You can be upset all you want over no free upgrades, but you're getting fooled if you're thinking you're not paying for it. Cobra is the only one at $999, and the Project X shafts are $168 extra; you're back into the $1200 territory like with Wilson upgrades. Mizuno, Callaway, Titleist, nearly every brand with irons in the same "players" category all are priced starting at $1200 with free upgrades, but if you think that's a better deal (brand and club preferences excluded) you've been fooled by marketing. I purposely excluded TM as with all their offerings I really don't even know what's an accurate comparison for pricing, but from a quick custom setup on their site appears they might have an edge on pricing for upgrades.

Good points on the marketing. I don't have a huge problem with paying the up charge if I'm certain that's the shaft for me. I live in Nashville and there's nowhere to my knowledge to hit these and try them outside. I guess I'll just have to come up to Chicago?

Dropped by Edwin watts in nashville today. Basically the only place that I know in TN to try these. These mythical irons are not available to try yet. I've only seen pictures so far and have heard great things. This thread has to be fake. I've not even seen a commercial from Wilson Staff concerning these yet. It is almost like all of the pictures I've seen on TV of the Bigfoot, yeti are whatever you'd like to call it. I also watched something on the discovery channel about Mermaids and megladons one time that had me hooked until there was a small disclaimer at the end of the shows that said they were fictional. I mean it's discovery right? Thought they showed real discoveries?

They are more concerned with selling the Triton driver and the hacker irons. These fake pictures look nice though.

I guess it doesn't help to say I took a look at them in hand at PGASS Tuesday night, does it?? Strange that they wouldn't stock them, did you ask the manager? They look nice, didn't have a chance to hit them, but I will say there's something about the toe end of the short irons I wasn't loving. Just a different look from the XTD Forged I've been gaming lately, especially with the shiny chrome. I'll be trying them out as soon as the demo days begin though.

No they're supposed to be getting them in. They just haven't yet. They've got all of the other wilson stuff. They've got the V4 which I play a combo of that and the fg 100s now.

I paid extra for my 5.5s in the FG100s I've got due in next week because I know the shaft works for me! I gladly paid the $200 for them. Rep treated me right though so I'm all in!! Got a steal is all I'll say! Can't wait till they get here!

When it comes to choosing equipment I don't put much stock in online reviews because I need to hit it myself, but it does say something when someone with access to anything chooses these.

Edited because the mobile app was missing roughly half of the replies to this thread.

Anyone know if there will be a v6 ut iron?

I have asked and was told no. I had a V4 UT but learned I hate the wide soles on utility irons. This year I decided to go with a C200 3 iron and ditch the UT.
