Cobra King F7 Driver, Fairway Woods and Hybrids: In-hand photos

Rick Shiels is an idiot plain and simple.

He keeps blabbing on about how cobra drivers don't work if you hit them low on the face when in fact they have the lowest CG's and it's the exact opposite. Last year when he was in Orlando the Cobra R&D guy Jose corrected him 5 times and he still didn't get it.

The guy just isn't very smart

Just like everyone, RS has his own opinions and conciiously or unconsciously his own prejudices. He does try and source equipment from the manufacturers but if he cannot get what he is looking for he will try other sources, like he did with PXG.

I have met him and he is a decent bloke. No, he is not perfect but to call him an idiot is unfair. If you don't like him (or Mark Crossfield) then don't watch his videos

It's a shame Cobra couldn't figure out a fix for the track on the F6+. I don't see a big difference in the + and regular driver.

Thanks for posting that hybrid video. I see a 4-5 turned down to 20 being a nice anti-left hybrid solution.

That was pretty hilarious. At first I thought he was messing with the Cobra rep, until I realized that he truly didn't get it. Had to be pretty annoying for the rep.

Had anyone hit F7 or plus drivers yet? Where's all the hype?

I had a chance to try out the f7+ yesterday. Felt very solid, and in my opinion, had a much improved feel and sound to the f6 of last year. Performed quite well w/o it being fit for me. Definitely impressed with it. I will be testing the epic and the F7 against my M1 next month. If the fairway performs well I can easily see it going in my bag as well.

I didn't notice it being too deep faced or too shallow faced in particular. That's not something I tend to look for so I didn't pay too much attention to it. Although it felt like it had a deeper face than my M1 460.

I was literally walking out of golf galaxy when one of the guys there mentioned they had it. So, I had to take a few swings. No warm up, no glove, no shaft options besides the stock stiff. SS on average was 108, Spin around the 2300 mark, and an average carry of 274 which was definitely healthy for me. But I will need a lot more time with it, too small of a sample size to really take much from the numbers.

What I took away was the much improved feel and sound. It was still louder than it really needs to be, but that's cobra. I was quite impressed by how solid it felt, and also how it set up and framed the ball. It was inviting, but not too big. It set up very square and possibly a bit open if anything. It felt like a very anti left club, which is something that is important for me as I have some problems with overdrawing the ball. The look was a bit busy for me. But it was less busy than my M1 and the Epic. Bottom line, if it works, I'll get used to the look.

Other than slightly different loft (F7 goes from 9-12 degrees, F7+ 8-11), it doesn't seem like there is much difference from the F7 to F7+. I wonder if most would be better in the F7 and just saving the $50 difference.

They are different head shapes.

Then there's the glossy finish of F7 vs the matte finish of F7+.

Well, I thought they were both 460cc...

But on their official website, F7 is indicated at 460cc head volume, whereas the F7+ is indicated at 415cc head volume.

That's quite the difference in head size.

Can anybody confirm this?

I don't think I've seen any driver head with such a low head volume recently.

I thought my Bio Cell Pro was small with 440cc.

But damn 415cc?!

Or is this a typo...

Anyone have a side by side comparison picture of the F7 and F7+?

Yea, I thought the F7+ was like 450 or 455. I can't imagine it would be 415.

This is the best I can find, and it's a screen capture of a YouTube video.

In this screenshot, F7+ does look like smaller profile than the F7, but that doesn't really confirm it being 415cc.

The website now says 460. I am guessing that was a typo.
