Anyone Else Surprised at How Beat Up Some Pro's Clubs Are?

These guys most of the time are looking for a certain feel. You could give them 5 drivers with the same shaft, loft, face angle, head weight, static weight, swing weights, grip (style and size), and same length. And only one or two of them would feel right for them.

I had out head pro at Ferris (really good club pro, has played in few PGA Tour events and couple PNCs, etc), tell me when he went get fit for 907 or 909 from Titleist, he ended going with something that didn't really fit him, 10.5* with a 55 gram stiff flex, because it felt really good to him.

Remeber when Spieth broke his driver at the Masters. They got him 5 backups to test on TM. They were all built to his specs.

This is the perfect argument for why the pros should keep their clubs in perfect condition. It is because of this that it is amazing that they let their clubs get beat up. I'll go with the old Volvo line: Drive it like you hate it... and you'll love it.

It's ironic how beat up their clubs get but as soon as the ball gets one tiny cosmetic scratch, it's into the gallery after a hole out.

Not ironic at all. They require that ball to fly a specific distance, on a specific trajectory. Scuffs on the sole of an iron don't affect ball flight.

Neither does a "cosmetic scratch" on the ball. A scuff would not be cosmetic in my opinion.

Scratched are not cosmetic. A sharpie mark is cosmetic. A scratch affects the material on the cover. Likely doesn't affect you, but 198 for a tour pro is not the same as 197 or 199.

No doubt the putter and 3 wood are the least changed clubs. That stated, most every other club in the bag is changed out yearly or even more frequently than that.

Wedges are likely changed out multiple times a year.

I've heard that wedges are swapped out about every 4-5 weeks.

You've heard that have you? Haha ok.

Ah, but it's the ball that does the flying...

Let's be honest, the caddies have gotten lazy.

Nothing but a wipe and back into the bag? I want you in there with a tee checking every groove. Club slips out of hands and ends up in the lake? Grab your snorkle gear buddy.

Caddies have been spoiled by these big purses and endorsements as well.
