PGA Tour logo...

When you look at the logo for the PGA Tour, do you think the golfer is right-handed or left handed? I recently had a discussion about this topic and the person I was talking with said that it could not possibly be a left-handed golfer. I am positive that he's wrong and you could see it either way. Have you ever noticed this before? What do you see?

That would be a truly ugly swing if you picture it as a lefty. What would be going on with that knee?

Pretty sure a lefty would have the rear arm/hand on top of the other arm/hand.

Therefore it's a righty, no debate

This is a silhouette, not a perspective drawing, so you cannot know which of the arms pictured in the logo is the left arm, or which of the arms pictured in the logo is the trail arm.

I don't see any way it could be a lefty. The club appears to clearly be a right handed club, to me. I don't see how the topline of the club could be anything but a righty's club. It's shaped exactly like the back of a blade iron. If it were a lefty, that part of the club head would have to be the face, correct? The guy is clearly looking to the right (round back of head, flat face) with his left foot turned out and right upper arm under his left upper arm with right hand covering left hand. How could this be a lefty?

I can see the upper arm is clearly in the foreground, based on the curves and the hand

What you are saying is not possible to discern from looking at a silhouette. It's a bit of a mind bender, but the correct answer is....

It could be a righty or a lefty. The only way we'd know for sure is by the position of the hands, and in the logo the hands are kind of mushed together into one big hand. In fact, the arms kind of meld together into one arm leading up to the hands. All other aspects of the silhouette would be correct for the face-on follow through of a right handed golfer and the "behind" view follow through of a lefty.

At first I thought, "the angle of the rear foot clearly shows it's a right handed golfer," but the more I examined it the more I saw that the "shape" they use could easily also be representative of the bottom of the shoe of a lefty.

I'd honestly never pondered this question before, but perhaps the Tour designed the logo this way on purpose? What I really think is that they designed it to be a right handed golfer show in his follow through, because he would be facing towards the person looking at the logo. But then again, whether the golfer is right or left handed, his chest is facing the target. It's funny because the Euro PGA and LPGA Tour logos show perspective so you can determine that both of those are in fact right handed golfers.

Still don't see how a left handed golfer is possible? Try taking a look at a few of the logos below that I find when using Google image search. Sometimes different pictures of the same thing will lead to a different perspective.

Which way is the "lefty" that some see trying to hit the ball? Would that be the lefty's backswing or follow through?

Here's how I see the lefty now. Before I only saw the righty but now I see both.

The logo was created by a contest winner from a local children's school in Jacksonville. Dean Beman then made his first deal as commissioner by commissioning the artwork to become the official PGA Tour logo. The lucky winning artist was none other than Amelia Lewis. A future LPGA player, oddly enough...

This is the best I could do, but you have to imagine it in this way. I only saw the righty but now I see both.

Exactly, the bends of the arms and hands are all wrong
