Really nice sticks. I don't understand why 2ndswing post them for so much money. That blade for $1000 is more than a custom from Lamont.

They need a margin as well.  Too much is a different issue.

Lamont. Im a supporter through and through. Look closely at the photo in my Avatar.

All i am saying is why would 2nd swing charge so much for a non custom putter when someone could go right to the source and get whatever they want!

Some people don’t have the patience to do a custom order. The waiting and decisions, but many people want the putters from these makers. Hence the releases and other promotions from other custom makers. Impulse buys usually cost more money. In the end it’s business. Not to speak for MannKrafted, but it’s apparent these are not conversations he’s comfortable having on here. He’s such an amazing craftsman and a great contributor here. Much respect

Some may know and some probably do not, but I am the other half of what was SSB Putters with LaMont back in the day.

Truly hand milling a putter from ANY custom maker worth his salt is going to be over 1000, if you had to put in all the time and effort to make a truly hand made putter, you would probably say 1000 is too cheap to sell it. When I say hand made, I mean it never touched a CNC machine with a program shaping the head.  I mean a putter with a man at the controls of every facet.  From a milling machine(hand turning cranks), to a lathe, to a grinder, a man is turning cranks pivoting tables, creating fixtures to hold the putter, holding the head in his hand on a grinder or belt sander.  Many people say hand made in the putter industry and since having been in it I know better, they mean hand finished and someone somewhere pushed a button on a program and a 3 axis machine took the head to 75-95% completion.  When LaMont says Hand made, it is just that.

We made around 10 100% hand made putters during our time with SSB and all of them sold for 800+ back in those days, which you are now talking 12-16 years ago.

A custom putter based off of a model that is rough CNC milled and then hand finished is ALWAYS going to be cheaper and the better option for a lot of people, and some companies are going to call them hand made.  However.....There are some people that truly want nothing more than a pure handmade made by a master craftsman such as LaMont and have no issue paying for it because they know how much time and energy goes into one.

Thanks for posting this!

Does anyone know if Lamont is still making the wide body XL Rattler? And if so, how much it would cost? I don’t see it as an option on his website. I sent him an email but haven’t heard back yet.

He will make whatever shape you want.

A few teaser pics. Lamont just does some work and sends updates. We havbr discussed timeliness or anything...i just go along for the ride and enjoy the finished product.

It's not easy to find a maker who has these unique shapes...with crazy mill marks...a true HAND MADE putter 😉

I'll post a few more when I have it in hand...shafted up.

I have been getting further and further into my experiment with a mallet and a plumber's neck.  I currently have an Odyssey 7 with a knuckle neck I am testing.  Yes I removed the slant neck hosel and installed the knuckle neck, it isn't some cool tour only model.  HOWEVER......

I have been a fan of not off the rack putters and I have been working with getting one of these from LaMont, I just like the shape better than the #7 and the brass has me very intrigued.

It made it in time for the season. This is new old stock of an early MA/66 milled carbon head. I wanted to change the neck into a slight slant style as well on this build. I’ve had plumber neck styles since I bought my first real non Kmart putter around 1998. Top line was shaved a tick and cavity milled a touch and obviously the face milling and black oxide is fresh. It did get rolled yesterday and it’s fantastic. Step up folks and put your order in. Big name sticks have been off my radar for years and never going back. Thanks @golfluvzme

*putter butter shows off color a tad.

Changed up my Rattler a little bit, polished off the torched finish, and used BS cloth to give it a satin kind of finish, re did the sight dot black and will keep it oiled up but gonna let it patina gently. I did touch up the black paint on the shaft also after I took these pics. Still love this thing like day 1, thanks Lamont.

Looks great! What was your process for removing the torched finish?
