I saw a Shell WWoG yesterday and he was playing Hal Sutton

Sutton was hitting an 8 iron and NB was hitting wedge. He was LONG!

The only thing I remember about him, beside now commentating, was that he putted from either side depending on the break.

Wiki says he has a heart attack but cant you play after that?

was a great player 4 time winner... He putted either left or right handed depending on break like mentioned above. If it was left to right he would putt left hand, for a right to left he putted right handed

As a player, he got more out of a terrible swing than anyone should have. I guess that is what being talented can do. I saw him close up back when he played on the Canadian Tour and I couldn't believe anyone could shoot those numbers with that swing. I think the bad back was waiting to happen regardless of the training accident.

That's pretty much BS even when Tiger does play. Occasionally in the studio it comes up, but not all that much.

 

Rosaforte acts more like Tiger's buddy. Notah is a close friend and pretty guarded about what he says.

He did have a terrible swing, but made it work. He has gotten miles better as a commentator since he started. He is not afflicted with the McCord-Feherty need to make little faux humorous asides.

Didn't Notah once win back to back? He was a pretty good player and I like him as an announcer.

Yes it was a terrible swing because of several death moves. He made it work and won a few b events then fell off a cliff way before he was hurt

Yeah, I agree. Also he was a three-time All American at Stanford. I'd like to have "terrible swing" like that too :)

 

He's become one of my favorite golf broadcasters. Just seems like a very knowledgeable and down to earth guy.

Everyone complains about robot swings and golfers all looking alike.

When someone different comes along you pick him apart and criticize his differences.

His swing may have been hard on his body but it worked for him.

 

I like his commentating a lot more than that doofus McCord.

NBIII seems insightful and approachable. I do not know him personally, but I feel like he would be a good friend and fun to be around. As an announcer, he gives valuable insight from players because I think they feel comfortable around him.

B events? Death moves? Are you Jim McLean? How is it possibly a death move if you can win four times on the best tour on Earth?

Has anyone ever considered that swings like Begay and Simpson look like they do perhaps because of physical build and/or limitations? Limb length, flexibility and strength all have a lot to do with how a swing "looks". To look different is not a death move.

Point. His swing was awkward looking, he was way across the line at the top and had a funky follow through. But it was very, very good for about three feet.
