Idiot marks.

I haven't personally tried it but I seem to recall reading a thread on here that said those Mr. Clean Magic Erasers might help. DO NOT try them blindly based on this reply - I am getting older and I might be getting it wrong. Maybe do a search online asking for suggestions for removing idiot marks from driver crowns.

Meguiars rubbing compound buffs them right out!

Don't use it on the face of the club.

What is it called when someone has scuff marks on top of their driver?

I've seen it called "dummy marks" but I thought it was called something else.

Thanks!

it is, and will always be, "snow on the roof"

as in, "ahhh crap. I let that guy hit/borrow my driver and he put snow on the roof."

actually, on second thought, I think that the guys who get mad at these marks actually love when someone else puts one on there because they can point out the 5 marks on the top of the crown and blame it on that one guy who he let borrow the club for a single swing. No mention of how that guy put 4 marks on with a single swing though.

So this isn't completely related, but all this talk about lending clubs made me think of this time, a long time ago, when I was a junior golfer. I joined up with this middle aged guy and I noticed that he had one of the new drivers that the pro shop was selling. I can't for life of me remember what it was, but it was a dark red/ burgundy color with a dark composite face, I bet it was one of the first composite drivers. Anyway as we were discussing the new driver he asked me if I would like to hit it and I say yes! I probably swung hard to see how it would perform and I just crushed one, it was awesome, on the next hole I ask to borrow it again and I take another good hack at, this time it just duck hooks and it felt super funny, I looked down to see what was going on and the face was completely caved in! I couldn't believe it and being young I had no idea how to handle the situation. I apologized and he of course said no problem... Luckily the pro shop replaced it after the round but for the last 4 holes or so I felt so bad for destroying the guys brand new driver!

A used driver. Everyone has these. I refuse to believe otherwise.

No, everyone DOESN'T have these. I cannot stand to use a wood that is scarred like that. I am VERY selective about who I let hit my woods for this very reason. Would have to get it refinished if it happened. I guess I'm a bit anal.

It's called "letting your girlfriend hit your club at the range because she says 'but why can't I hit that one?'"... my hybrid fell prey, and it's now my backup.

Ha, I do swing hard, but I don't think the COR would be very good on billet titanium :) I think something was wrong with the club before I ever got a hold of it. I just thought it was a funny story about lending clubs, or hitting someone else's. To this day I still will not borrow someone else's club! And if you pay for the plane ticket I'll play in the scramble, I can hit the ball a long ways, although finding it is sometimes difficult.
