Ping G400 Drivers

Wondering about the flex of the CB if cut to a playing length of 44.5" - SS of 98 but at 64 it probably won't get any higher. Currently playing an Epic/Oban Kiyoshi Gold Reg. The question is the regular or stiff in the CB?

well if you shorten it and don't add weight to the head then it will play stiffer. if you're playing reg flex (whatever that means) right now maybe reg. hit both and see which feels better. simulate the cut by choking up on the grip a half inch

If the heads are too hot (doubtful as in the past it has been too low a loft issues), you wonder about the demos in the fitting carts. Maybe that is why everyone here is getting 10+ yards over their present driver. Especially interesting since Ping only claime a ball speed increase that might squeeze out 2.5-3+ yards. If that is the case is it possible that these people with these very excellent distance gains are going to be annoyed when the conforming custom fit driver shows up? Can't imagine ping CTS testing every head (except for tour pros) so more likely a structural defect.

 

In a lot of cases the way this works is there's a first run of product samples. They could be what goes out to tour staff, to the USGA/R&A for testing, and to the fitting carts. It could be that when the first production run batch came in they saw the problem. It could be they problem wasn't with the original lines, but with new ones brought up for volume production. If that's the case, the serial numbers would tell them which line the head came from and whether it's OK to ship.

 

Ping has no interest in letting bad product slip out. When it comes to hard goods there it's well established that the farther a defective product gets from the factory, the cost to deal with it increase dramatically.

 

That doesn't ease the waiting any, but I'm not worried about any bad LS heads getting out there.

Shafts wouldn't prevent heads being shipped with Alta shafts. Does appear to be a problem with a large number of shafts. Have seen Alta and Hzrdous shafts, but no Ping tour shafts, kuro kage, or x torsion shafts.

When I picked mine up today, the salesperson commented on how close it was to a Stitch. It's a quality item Clark. I won't be using my Stitch now. I really like it.

I grabbed my LST today with a Tour shaft. The shafts and adapters are all assembled stateside. I'm not sure if it's a shaft problem or a head issue. My PGASS had quite a few LSTs in stock.

Looks like everyone is losing their Ping account then, as all the big box stores here are selling the lst.

Mine certainly isn't a demo. As stated, PGA SS in Duluth GA had 12-15 on their rack today, all brand new with plastic on the heads. I'll certainly return mine if there is a recall if I am compensated. But after hitting it today and playing a quick 18, its not going anywhere soon.

I had Ping cut mine and make at ping to 44.5 when did to my other G driver it changed swing weight to C7 and everything went right so you want to order short or you may have to mess to get to D2

There was a G400 LST on the rack at my ProShop today. I got pretty excited but unfortunately it was an 8.5 head with an Alta Regular, so no bueno for me. If anyone wants a G400 LST 8.5 though shoot me a PM and I'll scoop it up for you.

It's a good look if they're getting ahead of possible defects. It's NOT a good look if they started failing if they knew something was wrong and they pushed them out there anyway.

The lst was consistently longer for me due to roll out. The lst was 10 yards past my epic SZ all day.

i had 2 ls tecs crack on the head where the adapter goes in last year. maybe they dont want a repeat of that situation.

Is anyone that normally plays low spin drivers going with the standard G400? I have been playing sub zero but thinking about the std version and just lofting down.

 

I demoed the 9* G400 open (-.6*) with Tour 65 Stiff vs JPX850 with Rombax Z today hitting around 50 balls each on an outdoor range. Got ridiculously consistent average 3mph more club head speed, 14* launch 23-2400 spin, 275m carry, 28m dispersion circle. Can't get any better numbers than that for me! Put the X in, Atmos and Hzrdous with no real benefit. Tried it in LS with the same shafts as well.

 

Also, I've tried the M1, M2, Epic, Sub Zero, JPX 900, Cobra's and Titleist. The G400 is the real deal. Wanted to keep hitting balls it was so easy and automatic.

What shaft did you order? What loft? Seems like only 8.5 Alta's are in stores

You should easily get the head but the shaft may not be available if you go to the store. Something to think about I suppose
